To answer your question about who the voice of the old man is? It’s Christopher Lloyd aka uncle fester from the live action Addams family movies
I mean, yes he was Uncle Fester but that's really the reference you go with for Christopher Lloyd? His most known role was Doc Brown in the Back to the Future films. He was also Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Rasputin in Anastasia, Professor Plum in Clue, Merlock in Ducktales: The Movie, and the title character of The Pagemaster.
@@MissConniePrincessOfGay pardon me for not memorizing a particular actors entire listing of roles 😂
@@shadowking1380 No worries, lol. I was just surprised you went with Fester over Doc Brown.
[Alec]: Ahhhhh of course! It seems so obvious when I hear it 😂
@@MissConniePrincessOfGay and The Hacker in Cyberchase!
For me and a lot of people in the fandom, It’s a yearly tradition to watch it in October, so exited to re-watch it this year!
[Alec]: New tradition for me now too!
Yeah it’s really fun to watch!!
Why must you limit yourself
So I learned recently that Pottsfield is from "potters' field," in which a large stretch of land was used to bury poor people, such as potters and other laborers. Makes episode 2 a bit more interesting, I think.
2:12 "I love frogs! I don't know if I've said that in the first reaction"
**wears a frog onesie every finale**
Us: wow we had no idea lol
[Alec]: Lmaooo 😂
Oh man, Over the Garden Wall is incredible. I'm surprised you guys haven't seen it. I rewatch it almost every year around Halloween time. The autumnal vibes are so strong, and like the music is *so good.* Really looking forward to the reaction.
[Alec]: The soundtrack will now forever be played in my household in every passing Fall season
The garden wall is honestly one of my favorite shows and I just adore the way the show uses music.
The full soundtrack IS on spotify and its amazing because the full version of Langtree's Lament is on there and they freakin make the joke about why not starting with a Y. It's amazing.
The best part of episode 3 is when Beatrice apologizes to Wirt.
"Okay, Wirt, I’ll admit it- you seem like a pushover, but you’re not. Deep down in your heart, you’re a stubborn jerk."
He is really good at being both. At the same time, even.
Halloween is my favorite holiday because it's my dad's favorite holiday, and he decorated so much for it when I was small. The visuals of it became so rooted in my nostalgia, and also, just like... dressing in costumes is so fun! Also, weather wise, I'm from the Midwest, so autumn is both such a beautiful season with gorgeous colors, and the temperature is perfect for cozy wear, not hot, and just chilly enough it's comfy to wear sweaters.
[Alec]: Aw I love this! Thanks for sharing your nostalgia, Lucas and I also have lots of really fond Halloween memories
For recognition the show won 2 creative Emmy awards in 2015. One for outstanding animated program and another for outstanding individual achievement in animation to its art director, Nick Cross...
I think this turns into people's favorites because of how dark the ending could get. Watched your guys' video last time, can't wait for you guys to finish the show!
[Alec]: We've already recorded the ending and I've already re-watched the whole thing again and have SO many more thoughts after the re-watch!
Since I've finished watching this show for the first time recently, I can now watch these reactions from you two of it and it's awesome! This series has so much going for it, and is definitely on my list for more spooky things to watch each Halloween season. Not only is the voice acting so fitting for each character, the music is solemn alongside the art but also just creepy enough for it to be mysterious all throughout.
The Unknown is like Purgatory. A place or state of suffering inhabited by the souls of sinners who are expiating their sins before going to heaven. There're people from multiple time periods in Earth's history can be found in The Unknown. This is reference Dante's inferno, the circles levels of hell.
That’s a theory. How are there some dead ppl and some alive people existing within the same place? R some more “dead” than others? Many of those who who live in the unknown are shown to be extremely innocent.
I get that you agree with the theory but maybe don’t state these things without mentioning that this is your own belief as there are MANY interpretations available.
I’ve watched this show a lot of times, and now I know why Fred the horse’s voice always sounded so familiar to me. It’s because Fred Stoller does the voice of Chuck the Sandwich Making Guy from Word Girl. He was my favorite character in that show. Always so nice and polite for a villain.
I watch this every October without fail. I've also just added "Ain't That Just The Way" to my lexicon immediately. It's gotten to the point my friends will say it jokingly when mimicking me.
A bit of intresting word play is that Pottsfield is in refrence to a Potter's field; or a common grave. A place where unknown or unclaimed people where buried.
[Alec]: Ohhh love that insight!
Perfect time of year! 🎶Into the unknown~~🎶
🎵Potatoes! And molasses!! 🎵
I haven't checked if it was still up, but somewhere floating around the UA-cams there's a "making of" sequence of The Highwayman's little dance, from the rough storyboard animatic to the cleaned lines, to the final full-colour sequence. From a technical animation standpoint it's one of my favourite little segments in the series, what with how trippy and distorted it is, and I loved seeing how it took shape!
42:00 I simultaneously always forget and always remember Fred the talking horse saying "I wanna steal" is from this
Just an absolute seasonal masterpiece. So happy you're doing this one. It's what my spooky season needed this year.
[Alec]: Appreciate it, I'm mad at myself for missing out all these years but really glad that that poor decision ended with the chance to record my first-time viewing!
OMG This was my childhood I REALLY Love it I can't wait to watch ur reaction
My favorite Autumn Series of all time! The show itself as a whole stuck with me when it first released and I’m glad you guys get to experience Over the Garden Wall on your channel! Enjoy the journey through the Unknown and let’s hope the Beast doesn’t catch you!
Once you guys finish this there’s also a short comic series that came out that had adventures that took place in between episodes and stories that take place in the unknown like how the woodsman and his daughter got separated.
[Alec]: Just heard about this in the Discord and I want to read it SO much
Schooltown Follies is one of my favorite episodes, simply because of the teacher being a riot😂
And the full version of her song is just LOVELY ❤
I love how excited Alec gets when watching shows, makes these so fun to watch!
The Woodsman is Doc Brown himself, Mr. Christopher Lloyd
The best thing about this series is that you can watch it again and you'll notice details you’ve never seen before
[Alec]: Already started to have this experience on my first re-watch. Totally agree!
Love OTGW can’t wait for you guys to see it 😀
Gotta say, Potatoes and Molasses always gives me Shirley Temple's Animal Crackers in my Soup vibes for some reason lol
Also The Beast is *hands down* one of my favourite villains of all time. Very "old time fairy tale meets The Fair Folk" vibes.
im so excited to watch this
UA-cam recommended part 2 of these reactions to me!!! so glad to see people watching this series, so ive backed up here !! im soooo excited
Nice to see that I'm not the only one that has turned this show into a yearly tradition. This is my 5th year running. I love it so much.
Fun fact! Patrick Mchale is the director of OTGW and adventure time, secondly I watched Nausica of the Valley of the Wind before I watched this and it enhanced the veiwing. Also this show has LARGE ties to Diontes Inferno.
oh man I can't wait to watch this. and five episodes!!! what a great show for autumn
Perfect for autumn indeed - thanks for joining us!!
Subscribed as soon as I saw the intro, it’s immediately clear that you guys put in a ton of effort.
Omg thank you so much- I've been editing a new Over the Garden Wall theory video for the last 2 weeks and your comment just helped push me to not loose steam ❤️🙏
@@JesterBrosCartoonTheater absolutely looking forward to it! I have no doubt that you can knock it out of the park
This is such a great miniseries.
I really like this series. OTGW has incredible atmosphere, good wrighting, wonderful art and music. It's just incredible! Also, fun fact, my English teacher at uni put this on for us to watch for halloween last year. It was a great experience to rewatch something I like with new people.
Little sidenote: I'm new to this channel and I really like your duo and Alec is adorable :D
I’m very much looking forward to your reaction to the second half of the series; it’s incredibly atmospheric and utterly beautiful, I know you’ll love it
Really eager for the part 2
I love this show!! So happy to see you react to this. Halloween is my fav cause it doesn't try to be anything but a spooky holiday for Candy.
🎶potatoes and molasses🎶
Although I can’t watch this yet (I wait until October 20th every year to watch an episode every day leading up to Halloween!) I’m super excited to see this!! Can’t wait to watch it Halloween night, thanks for the reaction guys :)
Songs of the dark lantern is probably my favourite episode.
36:15 I love how the master of the master and apprentice pairing calls the pilgrim master of his own destiny.
Ooooo, I’m so greatful that you guys waited. My favorite way to relive the experience of watching good cartoons for the first time is seeing your reactions. It’s fun when one has seen it and the other hasn’t too. Could you guys consider reacting to the new Don’t hug me I’m scared series too? It’s only 6 episodes and would suit the halloween vibes
Thanks for the reminder to watch this! I watch it every year :). Hope you love it just as much
Christopher Lloyd voices the Woodcutter, Doc Brown, and Uncle Fester
SO excited to see the rest!!! Great reactions!
[Alec]: Thanks Caleb, we're stoked too!!
The 3rd episode gives off Shirley temple vibes
Great reaction! This is my favorite Halloween show!
Ooh I cannot wait for the second part!!
"What a wonderful harvest"
I highly recommend The Halloween Tree, tv special. Beautiful dialogue taken from the book of the same name.
[Alec]: Oooooh I love that you brought this up! Amazing underrated gem of a Halloween special, and one of my nostalgic favs!
I also binge this every year for Halloween! My sister got me the DVD to ensure I'd always be able to enjoy it :)
[Alec]: Love that. You've got a great sibling!
YESS BEEN WAITING SENCE LAST YEARTSGSGSHAJ!!!
7:28 what the last pringle sees when i try to get it
😆😆 this comment had me cackle hehe thank you
My little sister really likes Over the garden wall.
I'm kinda shocked that you guys weren't picking up any of the voices they're all legends and have voices distinct enough to easily place them.
I'll admit Tim Curry threw me off as mommy-whispers when i first heard him but John Clease, Christopher Llyod even Fred Stoller made his career as various extra's throughout various Disney tv series.
*Yeeeeeeeessssss...* Can't wait.
Yeah this series is definitely more Sleepy Hollow/Wind In The Willows/Brothers Grimm. Gravity Falls is like PNW cryptid sci-fi vibes.
That guy sound like Hacker from Cyberchase
Dreams do come true, I suppose
!theres news that season two of dead end paranormal park is gunna be out on October 13!
[Alec]: And we'll be there to cover it! Plus an interview with Hamish Steele (the creator) coming out on Sunday!
I love this!
Halloween Onesies!! Also I'd suggest to watch the Scary Godmother Spooktacular next
[Alec]: Ooooh I remember this one from childhood too!
Yeahhhhh boiiiiiii❤❤❤❤❤
part 2? please don't tell me you're going to rewatch the same 2 episodes in a years time.
Wait Lukas is the little brother?!
[Alec]: Shocking, right?! 😂
Hmm I don't think I saw this show
hey u probably wont react to this since its live action not cartoon but i wanna know if u can try react to the banana splits horror movie for halloween.
[Alec] Probably not since it's live action, but this is a very fun suggestion. I've heard of it, haha
Can someone tell me. Where can I watch this series? Because I have been searching but I didn’t got it😭💔
[Alec]: We did HBO Max but it’s a monthly subscription unfortunately! Not sure if they do free trials
@@JesterBrosCartoonTheater oo i see. thank you so much for replying my comment:)
@@cmillaa__ i think it was on Hulu last time I checked.
wheres part 2?
[Alec]: Keep an eye out closer to Halloween!
So you already saw it and act like you've not seen it. People are weird.
Only one of us has seen it? Did you watch the intro?
Please watch hanazuki its better than spongebob
Always love rewatching it when October rolls around, also always super excited when October comes because that's when new people decide to post reactions of it
