I'm singing this song for solo ensemble this year, and I noticed that she added a couple extra grace notes, but other than that, this recording is perfect to use as a reference.
This piece is to die for. Listening to this brings tears to my eyes; so many memories, so many words unsaid, many promises undone. This song relates to some of our most intimate expieriencies, both musical and human.
Started learning how to sing classical music and this is one of my piece right now. Excited and scared cause I actually can't sing but my teacher believes I can do this. Hahaha wish me luck I wish anyone else whose piece is this. 🤩🤩🤩😝😝😝
I sang this over and over from 2005 - 2008 for voice lessons in high school. Our choir won state, we performed twice on the Today show and this song alone got me some amazing paid gigs after high school. This was my audition piece for music conservatories. I have 2 degrees and a minor but I majored in vocal performance at Capital University - a very tough conservatory to get into and stay in. Couple of tricks: checkmark on your sheets in pencil where you think you should take a breath. When you know when you need to take a breath, mark it in ink. Next, pick a small spot to look at while you sing. Could be a spot on a wall, slightly open blinds, a light on a modem...anything that's in your view and tiny. Imagine your breath spinning and having to fit through that small spot. Sounds weird but it is SO helpful! For your posture, imagine there's a string from your tailbone coming out of your head and the string is on the ceiling. Practice it while doing everyday things like dishes, walking the dog, in choir, during household chores, work..anytime your standing or walking, imagine that with shoulders back and note where your diaphragm sits. It will become second nature as you practice. And chin up! (Literally and figuratively). Imagine that your mouth and lips are like a big cheerio. Round; note your tongue. Your tongue is made of 2 very strong muscles - and so your voice doesn't sound "trapped", note that your tongue should sit down with the tip touching the back of your bottom teeth. Don't let it touch the roof of your mouth while singing of your voice may sound "trapped". And while this sounds like an old wives tale, no dairy before you sing! Clear, non carbonated liquids are best so get your water in. There's plenty of other tips and tricks but those were my basics in high school. I was the only woman my voice teacher had who sang from the chest and not the head like most females. That took a lot of training but those were the key take aways from him. This is a truly beautiful song and a bit of a go to for altos; notably the rarest of the already rare - altos who sing from the chest and not the head. With this song being picked for you, I bet you have a beautiful voice! I hope those tricks can help you like they helped me. You have GOT THIS! It's a tough song but if you're asked to sing it, someone knows you can do it. Have a little faith in yourself - that helps, too! Wear confidence like a clothing piece or accessory you love. You've got this! Keep practicing this song - even after you're no longer asked to sing it. Remember it was chosen just for you because they know you can handle a tough piece! Altos always have the tough job in any piece as we carry the Sopranos. Sing beautifully - I know you can! Hugs, Singing Wolf of Worthington Kilbourne and Singing Crusader of Capital University
Ik how u feel, even though I started a year and some months ago. It will get better though! I believe you can do it too :), in also learning this piece along 'se tu m'ami' and 'stizzoso mio stizzoso' We can do this! ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

Singing this for my solo and ensamble comp in a little over a week I’m so nervous but also so excited. The director also gave me as my theatre piece: On My Own from Les Miserables. So excited!!!
@RuthAJ09 Oh, I was wrong. The female vocal is the best. You have an incredible voice. I have to preform this live in front of the class. This is my first time singing classic. I am a gospel singer, songs like Cece Winans and Marvin Sapp types of songs and to sing some thing totally different is challenging. But this woman makes this song sound so beautiful. Thank you.

yes! even if you don't listen or particularly like classical singing and opera, i don't understand how it's possible for people to not respect and fully admire her range, her control, and overall just talent!!
@Alcola100 I've seen her practicing it in her house, but only practice on her own, no coaches, it WILL BE VERY interesting if she ever decides to really work on it and put it on a future albumn.
@singamama Although cruel one, you make me languish, I will always love you faithfully. With the length of my servitude. I shall wear done your pride. At least that is what the book says... I know that there was an other version that was prettier than this. If I find it, I will post it...

Good luck with the solo, if you haven't done it already! I am also learning this for singing purposes ^+^
Marissa Geissler I'm also learning it for Solo and Ensemble!
Me too, this song was assigned to me for our recital at the finals
it’s ornimentation, with baroque ABA arias this is typical
Thank you I'm curious, im also doing this for solo and ensemble!!
This was recorded right at the beginning of her career and is one of her loveliest recordings. She was in her early 20s

The sotto voce is to die for. The tone quality of her voice is so silky and delicate. Gorgeous!
Extraordinaria interpretación de la genial Cecilia Bartoli. Ojalá pudiera escucharla en vivo alguna vez.

🤩🤩🤩😝😝😝
I've also just started classical voice lessons, too, and this is ALSO one of my pieces... good luck from one beginner singer to another!

Check it against the piano while track is playing; or sing first note and check with piano, then with music!
