Thanks for the review. They went with the bubble effect approach and not with a more adventures route, which is fine. I don't think that this album would go well with panning sounds all around. It's a very enjoyable mix and it sounds as good as it gets in terms of clarity and definition.
Hello Ian. Just subscribed to your channel after watching this video. After experiencing this mix several times, I tried to find another Atmos mix that sounds as good...and came up with Steven Wilson's "Harmony Codex". Glad you are a QQ member. Looking forward to your next post.
Would love to hear more Bowie content on your channel. Did you review the new Rock n roll star release? My first Ziggy purchase was scratched up vinyl copy at a flea market! 😂
@@peterock4210 PS my first copy of Ziggy was a burned CD-R a friend gave me in high school, with a label she designed herself. It was my only copy till 2012 or so !
@@peterro184 I googled it - I s’pose you’re right, I didn’t realize that 7.1 referred to side speakers. Interesting review but I disagree when you say those who are listening on 5.1 surround systems shouldn’t bother with this Atmos mix. Ok whilst 7.1 full Atmos systems obviously give you the best listening experience the Atmos mix is still pretty effective and a fantastic listening experience on a 5.1 system, besides how many people actually own a 7.1 fully Atmos capable system? Not many in the greater scheme of things I suspect, so you saying people should give this mix a miss on 5.1 is making this release appealing to an extremely limited market world wide and is denying those less fortunate a still extremely worthwhile listening experience. Also why would further Atmos mix physical DVD’s be bothered to be made if the financial returns aren’t going to be that great? I would go as far as to say the Atmos mix is preferable to the 2003 5.1 surround sound mix even on a 5.1 system but that is just MY personal opinion, the 5.1 surround sound mix is equally as good though it’s just a different type of listening experience. In short, for those who only have a 5.1 surround sound system buy this with confidence you will still get a great listening experience and ignore the slightly snobbish opinion of those who have an all singing and dancing 7.1 Atmos system. Just my opinion of course. 😉
@@Wishful-Thinking I’m glad you think so, and thanks for sharing your opinion. I don’t think atmos translates well downmixed, and that opinion is informed by hearing a lot of atmos mixes on a 5.1 system prior to upgrading. The difference is, to use a well worn cliche, night and day.
@@ShedSoundsMediawithIanBeaboutNo one is denying what you say but it’s still a worthwhile Atmos experience for those who only have a 5.1 surround sound system. That’s the point!

Good review…I totally agree with wanting Mick Ronson’s guitar more upfront on some tracks.
