Hi PetSafe, I'm finding that when I'm away on holiday, the feeder isn't working the way it's supposed to. It's as if it rotates twice in one feeding or something. These are the settings I programmed: Feed 1: 6pm Feed 2: 7am Feed 3: 6pm Feed 4: 7am Is it possible that when Feed 3 triggers, Feed 1 also triggers as it's the same time for both? It's left my household a bit confused and hesitant to use again, for safety reasons. Thanks!
Hello Will, we do apologize for any confusion, however you are correct in your assumption as to why it is rotating twice. When setting your times you would only need to input a time once. As this system will rotate every time its clock hits that time. For your situation you would only need to set the first two feedings and everyday it will rotate at 7am and 6pm. Thank you so much for reaching out. This system does not have a low battery indicator, however you will notice the rotation is a bit slower when the batteries are very low. It may be beneficial to mention this system has roughly 6 months - 1 year of battery life depending on use.
Will the meals go off in order? For instance, it’s 9:30am on now. If I set the first one to 7am for tomorrow & then the second meal to 12pm, will it go off at 12pm today, or will it wait until the first meal hits 7am?
Thank you for your question, Michelle! The meals will dispense based off the times they are programmed for. So yes, if it was 9:30 AM, and the feeder was scheduled for a 12pm meal, it would feed the 12pm meal next since the time for the 7am meal would have already passed.
That's actually not good enough, because you do not have Sun-Sat settings.Then it truly is not a multi-day feeder. Any plans to improve this??@@petsafebrand

How many days will this rotate on its own? Like there are 5 slots. Will it rotate past the 5 days or do you have to open it. Will it think it’s empty after 5 days? I have a bunny that won’t eat a full bowl a day so this could feed her for 10 days. Or more.
Thank you for this question! Our 5 Meal Feeder will rotate every day at the time you have programmed it to do so. It does not have any tray detection sensors so it will not know if the food has been eaten or not. It will continue to rotate daily at the programmed times as long as it has power and feedings have not been suspended by yourself.

Great question, Nikki! The only way to turn off the 5-Meal Automatic Pet Feeder would be to remove the batteries. Doing so will also require the feeder to be reprogrammed once the batteries are reinstalled. We apologize for any inconvenience this may be!

Thank you for your great question, Margaret! To refill the feeder, simply press in on the tab located on the front of the feeder. This will release the taupe-colored cover so you can fill up the sections of the tray with the appropriate portions. Does it need to be reprogrammed to continue for the same feeding schedule it was on when the food ran out? You make it sound as if I just pop the lid open refill each cup close the lid and it will continue on for five more days all by itself with no reprogramming. Is reprogramming required when simply opening the lid and adding food portions again?
Thank you for your question, Margaret. The feeder dispenses meals at the same time every day. The feeder doesn't keep track on which tray is which and their positions, it simply dispenses meals at the same time every day. So even after refilling, the feeder will still dispense normally.
This is a great question! This is because up to nine mealtimes can be set using this feeder. If you choose to set this many separate times, you would need to refill the feeder after the first four and second four mealtimes.
We have had our Petsafe for 11-12 years. Our cat is super upset when it doesn't revolve. After all these years, we have lost the original instructions for setting the time.
So the batteries are in the time is set but if I test it with the manual button nothing... If I set a time to check it is functioning nothing. Did I get a dud?

Mine was working fine until for some reason the thing doesn’t spin anymore. Poor kitty missed out on his meals for 24 hours. Good thing it wasn’t longer. When I try to manually dispense meal the button doesn’t do anything and the thing doesn’t spin. What can I do to fix this?

If I were to input 4:00 am feedings for feedings 1 through 5, why the device know to make that a feeding every day at 4am from for days 1 through five?
Great question, Ryan! This automatic feeder has an internal clock in order to set up the feeding schedule. If you were to set it for one feeding at 4:00 AM, it would only dispense food at 4:00 AM for the total of five days. If you were to add additional feedings, this would reduce the overall number of days this feeding would occur, as the feeder would require refilling.
Great question! For two meals a day you would just set two meal times and leave the other seven time slots blank. This will allow the feeder to rotate twice a day, every day, at the times you have programmed.

What a great question, Lu Rixi. This feeder is not air-tight, and it does not have any sort of refrigeration system. Wet food will not be able to retain its moisture, so it will likely dry out. In addition, some wet foods may not stay well at room temperature and are supposed to be refrigerated, and this feeder would not offer that. For these reasons, our automatic feeders are designed for use only with dry or semi-moist dog foods and treats.

I am so glad I saw this video, the instructions arnt as clear, I was going to return it because I couldn't figure out how to set the meal times.
