I have always loved gadgets, and also cats and lately in the last year or two feral cats. I have two feral cats, one comes every day and the other one comes once a week, I think the once a week one has a family someplace and he's just trying to be neighborly.

Thank you soo much for reviewing this product! I been looking for a feeder for my cat because me and my husband sometimes can't be home in time to feed him on time. So our cat loses his mind and destroys things looking for food ( and will bother us for hours after we fed him to let us not forget again ) . I was looking on amazon and there's so many feeders it is hard to pick the right one ( nothing too expensive and we dont need anything super advanced) . I feed my cat 1/8 cup 4 times a day to help him lose weight and help his throwing up( he was 24 pounds , but now 18 pounds. Thank you vet for telling me to cut his food!). Hopefully this product will not disappoint me ! I literally get massive anxiety knowing I missed a feeding by 5 mins .

Great video thanks it was helpful in setting mine up, When you take the 5 compartment tray up on mine to reveal the
gear there is a square slot to insert a cool pack or ice pack in case anyone was wondering what it was for.
I have 4 of these and a litter robot. They are reliable. My cats sit on top of it waiting for it to turn :) Feed them instinct too, but need to try the frozen canned for one that needs to be on wet exclusively for bladder stones. Good review.

Pretty great video! I just got one of these and this tutorial really helped me get a handle on how to use this thing. I am sure that I will need to get another one since I have two cats, but it's a great start. This is great for those times I need to go away for a couple of days. Thanks for posting!
Yes they work great for going away for 24 - 48 hours
Raw food that sits at room temperature for more than an hour or two can be extremely dangerous for the cats as it would be for people. It could even have maggots in it by the time the 12 hours have passed. They are better off getting fat, imo. There is a reason the feeder instructions say to use dry food only. Maybe someone makes a feeder with a cooling system, but this isn't it.
Well, I wouldn't use any moist or raw food myself, and I haven't, but I can see, if it's timed properly, where it could be done and it would not be an issue for one's cat. Maybe just loading the first compartment with the raw food so when the timer pulls it out, it will be produced well before any time where it might create a problem. Then just fill the remaining 4 compartments with dry food. I don't think the message here was meant to suggest filling all 5 compartments with raw food. I believe one owes it to their cat to think the feeding process through carefully before deciding on what food will go inside this feeder.
So,is the clock symbol the “set button”? And the check button is the “start a new time” button?
I would love if this had a chip reader so that I could use it for one of my cats (he needs regular feeding) so that my other cat doesn't eat it all. I have SureFeed now but I can't regulate the amout of food my cat eats because I can't give him a large portion in the morning (he eats it all and then throws up) and when I'm at work I can't give him food and if it is too long between the meals he throws up fluid.

The instructions for the pet feeder said for use with dry food only. You read that out loud. You were loading these feeders up with frozen foods and then putting ice cubes in them.
+Mac Harper yes. You noticed... If you read the reviews on Amazon you'll see that many people use them to feed wet food. It has no harmful effects on the machine or the cats.
Lucky Ferals Well, the point is it has the potential to cause harmful effects. It is a risk that is totally avoided by using dry food in the feeder. You can feed them wet food when you are home and can feed it to them right after you open it and it is fresh. You mentioned that your cats got chubby when you fed them dry food. With your new feeder you can control the portion sizes and avoid that problem.
When done properly with the right food in the right way it has no potential to cause harmful effects. They got chubby when they were living outside and were being fed dry food from an automatic feeder for weeks that was dispensing cheap supermarket quality dry food that was full of corn, soy, wheat, etc - everything that farmers use to fatten livestock.
Lucky Ferals The reason the cats got fat on the cheap dry cat food was probably because the dispenser you were using had no portion control. The new ones you bought give you that ability.
As far as the wet food in the feeders. The ice cubes you put in with the food probably melt within a half hour.That food is probably sitting in a little pool of room temperature water about an hour later with bacteria already growing on it. Bacteria grows like crazy in room temperature water. If you are gonna set the timer to dispense that food to them 12 or even 24 hours later then that could be a potential problem. Using dry food avoids this. Using portion control would also prevent the cats from getting fat.
The dispenser I used had portion control. It's the most expensive automatic pet food dispenser you can buy. The reason they got fat was because of all of the crap ingredients in the cheap dry foods. The ice cubes don't melt within a half hour because the food itself doesn't even defrost within a half hour. Please don't make assumptions about something you have no experience with. Anytime you use the word "probably" you are indicating that you are just GUESSING. Neither is it sitting in a little pool of room temperature water an hour later. Bacteria is not going to grow like crazy within 12 to 24 hours.
Uff I had set mine up for 9:30am and I was worried it was going to be just for one day. but u made it clear it will be 9:30am for 4 days...
If you only have it set for once a day feeding, and if you fill four of the compartments with food, it will dispense for four days.

You can always get a second feeder and set them both up with half the food so if one fails the other still dispenses.

Soooo question. I got this same feeder. My cat is not used to me not feeding him and howls still even when his food is out. Do your cats still associate you with food? If not, how do they know when this is out?
What I had to do was set it up and not program it and put their food in it like it was their food bowl so they saw me putting food in it. I did it that way for several days until they got used to eating out of it and associated it with food. Then I programmed it and it fed them automatically while I was home. They they used it while I was away. Hope that makes sense. :)

I went straight to the timing. he always acts surprised when its already there after we show him by putting him in front of it after 30 min of howling despite that we showed him the first time. We also showed him by making him wait like 10 min before it came out. He hears the sound but doesn't realize his food is out to go get it. I am wondering now if he likes the attention he gets from being fed more so than the act of eating himself lol!

Why 5 meals? Most pets eat twice a day...fail
Fail??? The only thing that fails is your understanding of the fact that you can schedule multiple days of meals with this feeder.

Why do you have to be upset? Just schedule a meal that’s half the size of a normal meal and do that for four chambers. You can leave the last one empty.
I feed my cat 4 small meals a day because it keeps him fuller and doesn’t have him waiting hours on end between large meals

I'm really surprised you would feed dry food if you are knowledgeable enough to know raw is good for them. Dry food, and especially free feeding dry food is so bad for cats.
