Minecraft 1.14 the Village and Pillage update introduces pillager outposts and village raids. Village outposts are watchtowers surrounded by smaller structures. They generate in biomes similar to villages. Pillagers will naturally spawn around the outpost. If you kill a illager patrol leader, which spawn near the pillager outpost or on the outskirts of villages, the player receives the bad omen effect. Enter a village with this effect and a raid is triggered. Defend the villagers from waves of attacks from pillagers, vindicators, evokers, witches and illager beasts. Enjoy!

I just fought off a massive raid and only 1 villager is left. And YES, we had bells, but those idiots still stayed outside. Most likely wanted to watch me fight.

Yeah I still haven't figured out what those bells were for. All it did was show some green sparkles and that was it, which seems to be good but at the end no villager did anything.

me and a friend spawned into a village, looted it, killed all the villagers, and burned the houses to a ground.

This was a beta version of 1.14. Back then Bad Omen only lasted 30 seconds
There should be some reward for saving the village just trade for villagers isn't that good of Rewards maybe the villagers should thank you with very good items such as iron or possibly even diamonds for saving the village just my thoughts.

The raid thing gives me the feeling that I'm on a quest to save the villagers from pillagers!
It would make it harder if the pillager beast could break down a 1 block wall or if vindicators can break down fences
Well one thing you could do is build a wall around the village to protect them
That is what minecraft dungeons will be a quest to save the villagers.

Same. I love this concept. Zombie sieges are boring because all it does is spam zombies on the village, easily dealt with. Mob attacks only target you, so just move away from the village. But this is amazing

I got the bad omen effect for 90 minutes then I just drank milk

The illagers are no longer rare to find (witches are not illagers).

Luckily i wont have to worry about my custom village. It is encased with an obsidian wall. And sits up higher in the center. Plus it is guarded 24-7 with 11 iron golems.
I hope pillagers don't learn to arch their shots. They could rain arrows from above :).
Not gonna matter. Its 40 blocks off the ground. All the villagers are in the wall area well guarded by ceilings as well as walls and golems. I upped it to 40 golems and have material for 100 more, if needed. 😁👍

You may not have to worry about a raid, But you could have to worry about Spawned Withers breaking in, Or Ender Dragons flying to your place, destroying most of your village.

What do you think of the pillager outpost and village raid mechanic? Battling the raids in survival is a lot of fun. Just make sure you have decent armor and an iron golem or two to watch your back :).
It would be cool if the villagers rewarded you with items after a raid for defending them, or at least lowering bargain prices
Also, quick question: Are pillager raids possible even if you aren't in the area of the village.

I love how they took all the villiger looking mobs and clumped them together. Instead of having them all just kind of existing. The hostile mobs attack the village and the golems portect them.

@@landencolomer1395 Nice ideas. The update is still being developed so perhaps there will be a reward. For the raids you first need to get the bad omen effect which requires finding an illager patrol with a leader and killing it. You then need to walk into a village while having this effect. Both of these would be hard to do if your not within range of a village.
The villagers need a way to protect themself like a villager with a sword or a bow
You can be their protector!
Maybe like a knight that randomly spawns or the player can hire them to protect the villagers
But....

yesterday was my first time playing the update and I made my house near a village. I was collecting wood when a Pillager "troop" shot me. I killed them all including their leader and got the bad omen affect for 99 minutes. without knowing what it was, I assumed it did nothing and continued into the village. I got like 3 - 5 waves of raids without realizing
I got a bad omen effect that lasted for 95 minutes
Good god, me too. It lasted for 99 minutes and 59 seconds. Whole thing was a goddamn nightmare. My armor was weak and there were no cows around, so no milk. Ended up running away like a coward after struggling for an hour.
@@aitanacruz9882 same thing happened to me except once I finished the raid, the iron golem died and there was 2 villagers left. The only armour I had was drops from the Illagers
What does bad omen do? Is triggering raids the only thing it does?
@@patrick-xu1go yeah. Kill a stronger pillager horde or stacking bad omens causes harder raids. Lvl 5 raids are like hell.
Sul DaBul i was out exploring and found one of the pillagers’ outpost things, and killed them. About 2 minute later I went into a village and started a raid that had rhinos and evokers (thanks for the totem of undying tho)

K. M. G. haha just annoyed at how I always defend the Village myself while the Golem is daydreaming on the other side of the Village and only comes over to help when the Final Waves are coming.
They don't really need to add Guards, they just need to buff the Iron Golems. Maybe in Snowy Villages Snow Golems could spawn too

@@viktorthevictor6240 Villages aren't supposed to have the outposts. But they glitch and have them spawn with in the bounds. Pillager outposts can still spawn like 60 blocks away from villages, or they can be randomly spread across the world.
Yeah I was on peaceful made a world w/ my girlfriend and I turned on normal and got wrecked when I came back from mining

Hopefully you need to do something to trigger raids rather it being automatic. Nothing difficult or complicated to trigger. Hopefully getting the bad omen is the only way. I'd hate for this to be automatic. I'd like to keep trading villagers for much better trades to keep and not lose them to raids.
Phantoms are hard enough, i like these changes, they give you something to do and the world feel more alive.
H N T K well it’s not too bay since the phantom,dolphin,drone and others where release in 1.13 but these new modes can cause big disasters of my house,dogs and my creations

yes, player made villages can have raids, the only places where raids can't occur are:
Zombie Villages
Outside of villages
What does it require to make it count as a village?
@@AtayMLG pretty much, you need a regular house or any structure with a door and roof. And also make sure villagers live in it too.

They should add flying mobs that the Pillagers can ride on making a giant wall around your village for defending less effective.
Sounds great,and the beast should be able to destroy your wall easily,allowing entrance for the pillagers and other raids.

Effective as heck
Me and my best friend found a village with a pillager outpost nearby, it was in water near the village, so we built a bridge. We take care of the village and villagers. We live in a tent in order to not disturb the villagers. We built a redstone system that triggers multiple bells scattered around in the village in case of a raid. We made a cool banner to use as our "flag". We also have snowmen and iron golems. So far no one has died in a raid. Only some iron golems. We built a watch tower that has snowmen in it, we stand in the tower and shoot pillagers. We are nice to the villagers and trade occasionally. We fixed some things in the village too. There were some random holes in the ground and there were some grass blocks where there was supposed to be path blocks. But we're humble about it. We live in our tent, with our horses and campfire. We do not care about praise or being referred to as heroes. We just want to help.

Vindicators are able to smash through anything weaker than wood objects and Ravagers can break through lots of different types of blocks, so that is not going to work
