- Minecraft raids can be full of surprises. One minute you think things are going well and then a raid party spawns inside the village you're defending. What would you do? Armed with only crossbows do you run in and face near certain death to try and protect the villagers? Or do you retreat and save yourself? And I know, my aim is pretty bad.

Post fight afterthoughts:
- The crossbow performs quite well when enchanted. Carrying one with piercing (long range) and another with multishot (short range) is a good balance. Quickdraw is essential with either for fast (re)loading.
- The crossbow piercing enchantment provides the added bonus of leaving behind arrows which is why you see me run up to some of the mobs for the final kill so I can collect some of the arrows. With the infinity enchantment not available this is a nice compromise. I started the raid with 4 stacks of arrows and ended the raid with just over 1 stack.
- It is very satisfying firing a crossbow with multishot when you start to get overwhelmed. In inflicts broad damage and helps to push back the raid party. However, if you have a couple of vindicators right on you there is very little you can do to escape from dying.
- The river around half of the village did a great job at slowing down the raid parties. If there was no river I doubt anyone could survive long enough to protect the village (without a wall that is, natural or player made).
- The iron golems were used as a last resort. The intention was I'd front the battles and if things got too crazy I would fall back and let the golems do their thing. In the end I made 4 and 2 survived. Without using other weapons I doubt you can survive without the extra assistance from iron golems.
- The spawn of the raid parties was rather strange. It generally seems they spawn near to where you enter the village with the bad omen effect, but at times they would spawn 100 blocks or more away from this point. Returning back to the place of entering the village before each round definitely helps to make the spawning more predictable.

Weapons: Only crossbows using any vanilla survival enchantments + no shield
Iron Golems: Up to 4, placed at the start of the raid or during
Armor: Any armor so long as it's using vanilla survival enchantments

Yeah, Lag is the worst. But truly, the hardest mob in raid is an Evoker raiding an ravager.

Crossbows are so underrated. People judge them in base of the Bow Enchantments, just because it doesn't have Power or Infinity doesn't mean this Weapon is not even decent, from my experience Crossbow makes best use of Tipped Arrow thanks to Piercing and Multishot Enchantments, also don't forget about Fireworks, pretty powerful Projectiles that can top an Area of Damage of 14.
Also thanks to Piercing, you can pick up back your Arrows, so you don't lost your Ammunition at all. Kinda an Infinity Enchantment.
Crossbows are my favorite weapons, but i hate when they are underrated.

Sweet thea in 1.14 if you are lucky farmer villagers can sell those. I also got one of those. And if you can get your hands on emeralds fast, the golden carrots are actually affordable :)
Edit: if you cant get lucky with that you can also go and get golden nuggets out of the nether by killing pig mans. They are quite easy to kill. Just find a group. Hit one, run a few meters ahead, build up 2 blocks and you can just hit them for free

@@sweettea735 to be honest i have actually never really tryed it. I usually use them for brewing. Because i like the nightvision potions. They are very handy for mining and caving. And you save up a whole bunch of coal because you dont need torches then. Also, horses can be breed with them

@@sweettea735 haha yeah XD. Most of the time i get more food than i can eat. While if im too lazy to go to my farm i just buy stacks of roasted chickens from a butcher villager. I have lots of villagers in my mine. So i dont have to go to the surface for food XD

With raids in Minecraft it shows a very dangerous threat to villages,while also being a GREAT reward,and still being a fun environment instead of JUST SWEATING the ENTIRE TIME.
ARROWS GUIDE
*> Harming*
The standard tipped arrow, it deals more damage & that's it. Good for burst damage & ending battles quickly. Pair with Power enchant for maximum damage, or pair with that reloading enchantment to fire more often.
*> Poison*
Excellent for enduring long battles, whittling down the HP of stocky enemies, forcing an enemy player to burn through their supplies much faster than you do in PVP, & for long battles that seem to drag on for one reason or another. Use defensively, such as camping somewhere safe while the enemy is ticked with poison. when paired with something like a Flame Bow, the passive DPS is PHENOMENAL, eating away health rapidly, & the fire can kill a player with chip damage, whereas poison can only damage, not kill, even if it's better at damaging than fire. A lethal combo.
*> Wither*
Only available in bedrock, i.e. the bad version, wither arrows perform so similarly to poison arrows that you should play the same way. Try landing a splash-poison potion as well to tack on top of both the wither & flame effects, maximizing the chip-damage threefold.
*> Slowness*
Used best against hoardes or for an escape, slowness pairs best with Punch or Multishot. Punch is used to knock an enemy away, making your escape easier &/or forcing them to retake their progress with slowness impeding them. Better for single targets. Meanwhile, multishot is excellent against hoardes like raids. Forcing multiple enemies to slow down makes mowing down attackers much more easy to manage. Piercing _Can_ be good if you know how to line your shots right, but those nice collaterals are too few & far between, pun entirely intended. However, the extra distance / projectile speed that it offers can let you begin slowing enemies earlier than you normally would, so you can try that if you'd like.
*> Turtle Master*
The steep cost, abysmal effect duration, & ridiculous resistance symptoms make this kind of tipped arrow useful for only one thing: escape. Slow them, and get out of there. _(Also, you can drink turtle potions for yourself to endure massive damage. Riding a horse, captaining a boat in either water or on ice, leaping with a riptide trident, flying with an elytra [& fireworks], &/or rolling in a minecart on rails all circumvent the slowness debuff you get.)_
*> Weakness*
The Weakness debuff can only nerf an enemy's _MELEE_ Damage, so it would be useless in ranged pvp with bows & crossbows & thrown tridents & whatnot. A quick shot from this before an honorable melee duel can really give you an edge, since you needn't bother with a splash potion's risk of hurting yourself.
*> Spectral*
Spectral Arrows Illuminate a target, making their Outline Visible Through Anything to Anyone Within Eyeshot of the victim. This is only useful in PVP against players who abuse invisibility potions or ender pearls. For invisibility abusers, I'd highly recommend Flame, as it really lets you aim at a previously "cloaked" opponent.
At 8:42 What is wrong with that raider evoker. It doesn't know how to just walk around the tree. He was just like "I am just gonna hide here and do nothing. Hopefully storm frenzy doesn't find me. The rest of the illagers get to fight."
Had my first raid yesterday. Was surprised bcus I wasn't in a Village I was in my own little town that I made and in that town I've healed like 11 villagers they all have beds etc and workplaces so technically it is a village. The leader randomly showed up at my town and I killed him and the fun could begin. Damn I advise for everyone to have a sword with looting 3 on it bcus damn I got a lot of loot. The raid was really fun. Until they spawned underground in my besement with animals and 2 other villagers. I lost 2 good villagers but I gained a lot of emeralds and armour and totem's of undying

In a day,stormfrenzy wake up and say:”I have a good idea!I will figth 200000000 pilagers and 100000 beasts only with a crossbow!Wow,thats a really great idea!”
But then this happens
I got the Hero of the Village achievement facing 5 raids at once in a Jungle. There are soooo many bigs with the update. Every time I kill the Raid Captain, I get Bad Omen and another raid begins up to five raids at once and it is mayhem. I go through 1,000 arrows and it has been made very obvious that Vexes are nasty creatures. I walk out with like a full stack of emeralds though. Looting 3 greatly facilitates this bounty. My villagers are up in the canopy trees completely out of reach and fenced in, so the Johnny pillagers pay no mind to me. They run around frantically and I can pick them off with my looting sword for an easy 2-3 emeralds a piece. The last wave combined with various Luther levels of waves gets hectic. At once I was facing like 3 Evokers, and 9 Vexes really does a number on your health. They love to knock you from the trees and out of perfect sniping position. I have gotten 1.5 stacks of emeralds and around 15 totems if undying from running the test twice. Both of which cause five raids over the entirety of the fight. The second time around, I decided to prepare. An absolutely effective trap is trapdoor-magma block lines around the perimeter of the base. They get stuck and only the witches live which you can then pick off with a bow. The ravages and their rider lives because mine was only 2 blocks wide but I could make adjustments. Water is also extremely effective. Water and any type of fence or wall. I made a D-Day style dirty front on the Borth facing my swamp and magma pit and face around the East. A winding river surrounds the entirety of my base and is by far the most effective but watching the health bar of a wave drain like water when pillagers spawn on the East is amazing too. If only they knew to sneak on magma blocks!

Once I had a Minecraft raid and it was in a seed that Mojang let people use. It was named “Outpost Ahead”. A village is in between 2 mountains and a few blocks away was an outpost. The raid started and I could not find the group. A month later I found the group in a mountain.

When I’m fighting raids on Minecraft instead of golden carrots I use golden apples and if u go into there tower have your cross bow ready or bow or diamond sword and for your armor use thorns and unbraking for armor that’s my strategy against raids
Edit: also my weapon enchantments are crossbow the highest piercing and bow highest flame and highest power and diamond sword is highest knockback highest sharpness and highest fire aspect

When i was playing this update. I found a village that quickly. plus there was a pillager camp near it!. Got a lot of loot from blacksmith. And then a raid happend. But i DESTROYED that raid like a boss with an iron golem :D

I wish higher bad omen levels also made earlier waves a bit harder and they made a pattern of increasing difficulty for higher levels than you are supposed to have in survival instead of copying the last wave over and over
