I recall my initial introduction to this kind of music back in the 70's. It was Tangerine Dream's Phaedra. I was a mesmerized teenager. Lying in my bedroom with my headphones on...it was otherworldly sonic bliss. I had never heard anything like it. Took me a few more years to discover Klaus.
Truly Klaus was in his prime when this was recorded. The music he created during this time period is without equal. This is by far the best video of Klaus that I've seen so far.
in the late seventies Klaus Schulze gave a concert in Regensburg, it could have been the same year. It was a great and for me at the time very unusual experience. love his music since then
It's amazing how much influence his work has had on scores and sound effects in movies, video games and EDM. I mean Schultze's mixing the set on the fly, it's like in the way which Sasha with Ableton and other artists are composing today.
i have watched this VDO endless times still i just watched and the respect and love for Mr.Schulze gets even stronger.Brilliant performance! This vdo is a lesson for me.sorta obsessed over this vdo.haha.
"For Barry Graves". Recording was done on 13th of January 1977 in the tv studios of the WDR and broadcast was on th 28th of February '77 at the show "Musik Extra 3". Full version is 14:29 on The Ultimate Edition 42 track 3.
Wow this is superb, this is the kind of music a friend and I like to make. Just sit and space right out into whatever texture and rhythm comes along. We dont have the kind of sound that these synths can make with our modern synth but the sheer setting off into that space is such a joy. I bet Klaus loves every minute he is out there doing it. What a hero, love his music forever
Nothing random here, he created a tablature for electronic music, which not only included note but filter, oscillator etc... movements... So he was and is able to play the same piece over again. You can see an early version here...
I would like to say : this video it`s a document about music. If somebody does not like it`s ok. No need watching. But I really appreciate this because Klaus did & still doing amazing music. Thank You very much for all efforts about that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in the late seventies Klaus Schulze gave a concert in Regensburg, it could have been the same year. I was lucky to be have been able to listen to his music since then
This is complete amazing!!!. I heard almost ALL his albums, but never saw him alive. The Father (or at least, one of them)of all the Berlin School Style. also Krafwerk, TD and others. Great video and greater sharing this material. Thank´s a lot, Boropolis!!!
A lot of people are over simplifying this video.. This is how Trance music would have sounded like in its infancy.. It may be boring but music evolves, and this guy was doing stuff, mixing, synthesizing etc.. in the 70s
Is the man absolutely amazing or what! Is it any wonder why he went off to do a solo career? The man is & always will be one of the greatest in this genre of music....
I was there...he was fabulous...just fabulous..........was studying composition and synthesizer at Goldsmiths College/University of London at the Synthesizer Studio of England...
Thanks very much for the upload! The sound quality here is much better than on KS' "Ultimate Edition" CD set, on which it sounds rather muffled and "dead". This video really brings the track "alive"!!
Don't get real clear picture of the modular guess Moog 55 with additional cabinets, Micro and Mini moogs, polymoog on the bottom, Arp2600 to the left,Arp Odyssey to the right.
Amazing, Klaus the loops an textures master ! I also love "Ambient Music For Airports" by Eno, a masterpiece indeed. Thanks for posting! Btw, this guy is right : "Fuc...ing" AMAZING!!!!!
Yes, this track is called "For Barry Graves" and you can find it on Klaus Schulze's CD called "La Vie Electronique Vol. 5" I don't agree with the other commenter that it's similar to the sequence used in Crystal Lake.
As electronic solo-artist he is one of the best. Some of the best electronic groups are Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk and Front 242( listen to their early work: 'Take One' is a great classic, brilliant music and vocals!).

I saw and heard TD in 1973 in concert while on vacation in West Berlin. I felt like I was in heaven. I'll never forget the experience.

Fantastic, Scott do you still have all you gear? Are you making music?
Cous - Found his albums on Rdio, nice thanks for making me aware
I still have a tonne of gear but sadly I've not had much time to do anything with it. I'm slowly working on it so there's that. :)
Unser Klaus macht Musik zum schweben !!!
Merci ...

Klaus Schulze is the best artist ov any artform, electronic music is most advanced kind ov art ever .
Transcendental excellence created by a genius mind. The true master of analogue synthesizers.
Nothing random here, he created a tablature for electronic music, which not only included note but filter, oscillator etc... movements... So he was and is able to play the same piece over again. You can see an early version here...
Oh no- I found this wonderful video when I'm OUT OF WEED! I'll have to come back when things improve.

I didn't like every thing Schulze did but he's a master of the synthesizer and knew how to make it work.
