@@chalfo thanks for letting everyone know what a wanker you are. I hope she does see it, I’m not sure how many videos you make praising her ability and endlessly complimenting her. Interesting to see my way of speaking triggers your fragile ego so much. Take care mate.
@@chalfo cheers mate. I’ll do my best and see what can be done, A denial of interview I doubt will be because I can’t pronounce her name correctly. You’re delusional to suggest it would be. I love you internet trolls, you’re fabulous creatures. Be well.
In the timing change section after the first verse, it sounds as thought she put a rest in there to change the beat. She often leaves the last crash etc to resonate on at the end of a song.
Like the music and the way the other Maids play, so many notes syncopated into tightly integrated patterns, riffs and licks that all service the music in a complex yet uncluttered way. Akane (A-Ka-Nay) is a unique and powerful, driving drummer that always surprises. Thx, Colin!
But her name ends in eh. A Canadian should get that eh? It's a con eh? I agree with you tho. Getting upset about pronunciation is dumb. Also Canadians should feel right at home with Japanese. Japanese say ne all the time and it's more or less identical to the Canadian eh.
I have been speaking Japanese for 20 years and I still mess up plenty of words. Conversely my wife is Japanese and absolutely butchers some English words. We move on.
Thank you for the detailed reaction from a drummer's perspective. When I first heard this song, the drumming (and guitarwork) blew me away. I'm not a drummer, but my first impression was that it was some incredibly imaginative and complex stuff for a song of this type - the beats and rhythms felt so dymanic and unique. It got me hooked hard on the band, and Akane has become one of my all time fav drummers.
When Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin saw them live. He said that the drummer Akane is like an reincarnation of John Bonham... He met Akane backstage and told her how impressed he was of especially her. But also of the whole band... Quote..."How can they be so damn good ???!!!" He said...
Thanks for helping break this down! Domination was my intro to Band-Maid, and one of the big questions I had was what the hell that drummer was doing on her kit. It was so creative and unorthodox for hard rock, but never derailed the song. It was like another line working independently but somehow together with the other instruments and vocals.
Thanks for this Phil! What a great song to get into band maid with; it's so explosive, powerful and musically expressive. So many little Easter eggs in the song (drum part). Happy Saturday and be well.
Interesting information and explanations from you regarding the drums for the well known Band Maid song. Thank you for that. Probably not PC to say so but I find watching Akane fascinating. Wether she playing her drums or not. 😍
The "S" is a Custom Trash Crash, according to the Band-Maid, Unseen World Score Book. And we have learned that Akane is in a class all by herself. And sunny and very hot in my neck of the woods of Texas. Running about 97F-99F, around 37 C, then add in the humididity. (Yes I misspelled it on purpose).
Very kind of you to share that sir! I do appreciate the info and must say, it’s a lovely sounding FX cymbal. Ha, sounds like one hell of an inferno where you are. Love the misspelling, respect it if anything 😜 Hope to visit Texas at some point in my life. Be well friend.
Considering he's pausing the shit out of this and analyzing the drum part, i think this version is the perfect version for him.He can see and hear everything.
AKANE has three syllables and sounds like, “ah-kah-neh,” delivered aaa triplet. The hard part is saying that without accenting/stressing any one syllable.
Let's just face it.... Akane is one of the best drummers in the world today. I love her interpretation of the music... And I am sorry but the best beer in the world is Guinness on tap. 😁😁
She really is one of the best, a true gem of talent. Hahaha, Guiness is a delicious stout, a respectable choice! Maybe later in the channel life we can all do a beer tasting of everyone’s favourites 😀. Be well.
The rapid guitar strumming is evocative of SKIFFLE, the type of music the boys were playing before Rock and Roll. The most propulsive element of the song is RINGO’s drumming. But I think the tension and release created by the rising and falling melodic contours of the vocal are what got the young girls excited.
I absolutely will explain them in next Saturdays video. Glad you’re enjoying things. In a nutshell though, ghost notes (grace notes) are more felt than heard. Be well.
Mr drum nerd you pause all you want when it comes to analyzing my favorite drummer and bandmaid my favorite band that I love so much!❤💯👍🤘🤘Hoping you get to afterlife in this same setting!😉😃

Akane. (Are-Car-Neigh) is one of my favourite drummers. The way the drums are arranged in BandMaid seem a lot more like she’s “playing a part in the song” rather than just being the rhythm section. Very interesting to listen to in every track.
Love your breakdowns and don't mind the stopping at all. Akane's name...instead of 2 syllables, ah-cane, in a 1/8 note rhythm. ah-cane, ah-cane, ah-cane, ah-cane. It's three syllables, not two. Being dismissive of a correction as far as accuracy, especially concerning someone's name, is not something I would be proud of.
