We did a five day trip to Scotland in July the ioniq 5 is definitely a utility vehicle with the V2L We to got an induction hob and used the frylight spray for cooking .enjoying the content keep it up please
The couple in the campervan was surpise that we had full electric on as they didn't pay to be hooked up to the mains, they genually seemed intrigued with the Ioniq 5 and the V2L. You know what that's the answer frylight spray! why didn't I think of that :D Definetly bring the drone and camera out for our next trip around Scotland.
So awesome, James! I grew up in the Highlands - six years at Thurso High School! Hope you enjoyed your trip, and please keep giving us this great content.
Great job James, glad you enjoyed your time travelling that beautiful part of Scotland, I’m so fortunate to live in Newcastle and having Northumberland and Scotland so near, I did the 500 many years ago in a VW Camper. Look forward to many more posts of the Ioniq 5
I like the approach of just grabbing a few things with minimal thought put in and head out on the road. For my family it would be the exact opposite. Plan ahead a couple of days in advance. Write lists. Pack Tetris-style. Execute plan.
Love it up there. Went to Gairloch in September but used the wigwams. I have used the V2L a few times with a kettle but added a toaster for that trip and felt it made a huge difference. Recommend Gairloch as it has 3 50kw chargers all reasonably new and working in September and the campsite has a charger as well.
That's the part of the NC500 we missed out including Applecross, we'll need to try and do the full course next time. Just had a look at the Wigwams at Gairloch and looks perfect for a stay and cosy.
Its Digital Teal Green Pearl. We did think about a small caravan but I think it'll be a hard drive around the single tracks way up north in Scotland, especially with no towing experience.
The Kona EV does have utility mode but no V2L and not much room at the back folded out. The I5 was perfect for this and we'll be making more trips like this next year and be more prepared :)
@@LemonTeaLeaf Well you got the results. I was trying to figure out if you were the best drone pilot in the world, flying the fastest drone. Love the roadtrip videos, planning a ferry/roadtrip next year to Scotland.
camping in the car??? you maniacs :-) great video. Strathy beach is where a load of my ancestors who were fishermen, died just offshore in a terrible drowning accident :-(
Hi mate glad you are enjoying the car, I was watching an efficiency test the other day and seeing how long in the tooth the original ioniq is I't didn't surprise me that it beat every new bev since it was launched over 6 years ago so much for those flush door handles ;) Cheers mate
Hey good to hear from you mate, yes the brick shape isn't the best for effiency for sure but it does make up for it in charging speed. we'll have to see what the ioniq 6 is like seeing its shaped like a fish.
Yes the car has a 3 pin plug under the rear seat also. I think in europe it can feed upto 3.6 kW of power, it's lower in the USA. We used the 3 pin in the rear to power the mini fridge and charge our devices that night while we slept.
How much electricity did it cost for the night having utility mode stay the cabin at 19 degrees? Other than that, pretty interesting video! If you want to do more Ioniq 5 camping, I'd look at the channel "PigCatTrip", who does camping videos with his Ioniq 5. Thinking about buying a similar SUV tent when we get our car.
Did a quick calculation the 14% on the 73kwh would be 10kwh roughly for 14 hours to keep everything charged and running. Having a look at PigCatTrip very cool love the cinematic feel of the video I'm watching now. gives me some ideas for tents next year :) thanks 👍

Only a few seconds in and already loving it.
These drone shots are no small feat. I am impressed. Thank you for an entertaining and educational video
Thanks for the kind words, was fun flying the drone and editing the footage. Hope to be making more videos like this next year.
Lovely camera work- good drone shots. More, please.
Thank you, looking forward to making more content like this :)
So awesome, James! I grew up in the Highlands - six years at Thurso High School! Hope you enjoyed your trip, and please keep giving us this great content.
Thank you! Really like Thurso we went to Captain's Galley and Olive for food and it was great quality and atmostpher in both.
That was a great video, really enjoyed it. Love the drone shots. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching. Just wish we could travel more like that, hopefully next year.

We always love traveling abroad but there's so much to see here in Scotland. Definitely need to have more staycation.
Great drone shots of the scenery !
Loved this! Beautiful scenery and lovely pace to the film. It’s a more from me 👍
Awesome! Thank you! more park runs will mean more travelling around Scotland.

It was fun but having the right tools and packing correctly would be something we'll consider more carefully next year when we travel around Scotland.

Thank you . Very well.
Amazing drone footage and editing! TV broadcast quality. The scenery looks just amazing, I have to put this on my bucket list.
Thank you! means a lot, really enjoyed making and editing this video will hopefully do more videos around Scotland this year.
Waiting for an update for this year :) nice video, thanks a lot
Thanks this was my all time favorate production video I've made to date😄
Ya phone and glasses in the door-shelf works great, slept two nights and it worked well.
Thanks got a blow up car bed mattress so hopefully be as comfortable and should save on space. Be using it on or next camping trip.
What colour is your car? Have considered towing a trailer tent or small caravan? Very interesting.
Its Digital Teal Green Pearl. We did think about a small caravan but I think it'll be a hard drive around the single tracks way up north in Scotland, especially with no towing experience.
Scotland is beautiful
This is absolutely fascinating and very informative. I wonder if there are some sort of awnings already being developed to fit on to the ioniq 5.
Looks like a fun trip! I currently have a Kona EV and thinking about switching to an I5 to do exactly this kind of trips.
The Kona EV does have utility mode but no V2L and not much room at the back folded out. The I5 was perfect for this and we'll be making more trips like this next year and be more prepared :)
Great content!
Thank you😄
More, please!
Thanks, more travel Scotland content next year :)
Great video James, how many times did you have to drive across that bridge to get them drone shots 😂
Looks stunning, great trip.
Thanks :D Drove pass around 5 times haha got enough footage to do an edit for the oposite direction 😆

Such sad history in such a beautiful place. Thanks for watching it was fun making the video and its not camping its carping 😄
@@LemonTeaLeaf indeed, they died within sight of their homes. It was eerie visiting. I think you need to buy the awning!

great video will be doing something similar soon
Your not traveling Scotland in your unicycle EV are you?
Lol no but I maybe bringing it with me will be heading up to Loch Ness in May
amazing that you can use up to 2.6Kw with the Ioniq 5's V2L. Do you also have the 3-pin plug socket under the rear seats, so can cook inside?

Amazing content as usual! What drove are you using?
Hey Sale, it's the DJI mini 3 pro
