I`m Scottish and can assure anyone watching this, that driving on these roads in bad weather is both mentally and physically exhausting, especially on a bike. You did a great job Saffy 👍
I’ve been watch your videos for a while now and it stands out a mile how you’ve developed and grown as a biker, a presenter and as a person. You’re videos are always true to life and honest, along with being entertaining. Keep them coming! Speaking from experience, you need to be flexible and realistic with your routes and also yourself. Sometimes you can crunch out the miles, sometimes it’s hard work and you need to adapt accordingly. Don’t ride tired or fatigued or push yourself when you should call it a day, especially when riding alone. Keep up the great work and happy riding.
Saffy, your a legand.. most people would give up when the going gets tough. you've shown time and time again being uncomfortable makes you a stronger person. wish you all the best.
The beauty of Scotland. You are doing excellent. In Scotland you either have wet weather and no midges or dry weather with swarms of midges. Do not put yourself down. You have set yourself a mammoth task and you being strong enough will get through this. Tomorrow is another day.
Been to Scotland and Applecross many times, glad you did it and it's well worth it.. When in Scotland always fill up with fuel each morning, some places can be Mile's between open fuel stations. Keep the videos coming.
If you don’t mind me saying, you have balls of steel. I’ve been in your situation many times in Scotland. You will learn not to do too many miles in a day five to six hours at the most and find a spot and spend two nights at least once on the trip. It will all make you stronger even though you will feel weaker ( if that makes sense). Well done and keep on trucking. 🙏
Well done Saffy, you should be very 😊proud of yourself, a great solo effort at the nc500 (did it myself a few years back) and a wonderfully put together video for us all to watch. Thank you and please keep them coming 😊 👍
One thing I learnt about riding in the rain is to put the cuffs of your glove’s inside your sleeves, as the rain runs down into your gloves. Keep up these fantastic adventures.

Goretex clothing is a wonderful thing 😊 when riding Wales, Scotland always expect rain, even in the middle of summer ☀️ need to purchase yourself some roll bags from lomo, then you'll never need to worry about items getting wet again.
Living in the highlands ,im just glad there are the odd places that haven’t been spoilt by social media ,it’s like anything the more popular something is the more it detracts from it, just the way it is🐒🏴
NC500 is a must for every biker, i loved it. Even though we got drenched 3 days out of the 6, it was well worth it but good quality waterproof motorcycle kit is a must.
for real decent biking roads stay away from the Nc fad. Straight up the middle is miles better, No motorhome mayhem, No city slickers stopping at every loch or drop of water for an instagram pic and generally the hotels are priced at face value not overpriced trash because someone saw a few Nc500 signs. Most locals I know up there hate it. I have friends in tongue who despise the way it’s turned out.
Hi again saffy you must learn to stop sooner than what you think one day it will catch you out and maybe for all the wrong reasons please don’t be another person to pass on the roads due to tiredness look forward to the next part
Soaked Saffy, hey most people including me, have no clue how beautiful the geography is there, even when rainy. Thanks for your edurance and persistence! I Have the same bike a 2021, so its even more interesting to watch now!

Good old rainy Scotland you have to love it. Me and my son had 3 days level 2 storm from Oxford to Glencoe Fort William to Drumnadrochet. Wet to the skin everything but a few sunny days changes everything. Enjoy it❤
Nice one…every single trip I go on has at least one day of mad rain including every single time I’ve done the NC500. The Applecross pass is always great fun, but I hate the Peninsula road, I prefer to go back over the pass and head up to Ullapool ( Uh La pool no oo La pool 😉) Great video as usual 👍
Saffy, Iv'e been touring for decades, and I've failed and experienced crap happening probably more ways than I care to remember!! On that basis, my recommendations for making your trips "better" would be 1. Get a BIKE dedicated SatNav (you have a great mount for it on the CB) as it's waterproof (as is the bike powered wiring), heat proof, sun proof (as in, will work well, with bike gloves on in ALL weathers and won't die on you mid-ride (and bright sunlight it'll still be visible, and will also work with bike gloves on, in the rain). I like to have a map in front of me, and I like to design the route before I go away, so I'm not using it to get me places/I don't follow "it's" routing, (though I do that occasional too, mostly I'm following my own pre-determined, planned route). 2. I only use soft luggage and it all mostly leaks eventually, so I put everything inside my bags inside their own waterproof bags to ensure nothing gets wet! 3. I ALWAYS take an extra pair of gloves as you never know when you might end up with wet gloves (which is disgusting). I've had waterproof gloves fail on me, and there is nothing like having a spare, dry pair to switch to!! (also try not to use heated grips in the rain as it can make the waterproof membrane work in the "opposite" direction, and you end up with wet gloves even though they haven't failed). I always have at least 2 pairs on a trip (in winter, some winter and some "mid-season" both waterproof, in summer, summer vented with no membrane AND some summer unlined but waterpoof gloves). 3. Always put the cuff of your gloves INSIDE the cuff of your jacket as otherwise, water runs down your arm and into your gloves, which will eventually get waterlogged (and if they are waterproof, there is nowhere for the water to go!) Ideally, you have an "inner" cuff on your jacket and the gloves go over that, and under the outer cuff. If no inner cuff, the same still applies, though. 4. I never take my lid off when it's raining, unless I'm under cover, so as not to get a wet head (on top of everything else (I'm also a glasses wearer and this helps with them not getting wet/steamed up, too (I wear a Schuberth flip to help with this too - recommended!!))). Sometimes I won't take my wet gloves off either, in case I can't get them back on! ;) Hope this helps and you can benefit from my failures/bad experiences! ;) :)
A great video of the nc500, showing the true life of a biker on the road. Things can, and do go wrong, but you carry on (sometimes too long), which I commend you for, but sensibility kicks in and you stop. Looking forward to watching the rest.
Being cold and wet is no fun, but being part of the bike life, it's just something to take in your stride. Knowing when to stop for your own safety is key, so well done :)
Just back from Ullapool and Lochcarron. The Johnny cash duo live in the Caledonian hotel Ullapool, then the following night at the Lochcarron hotel. Rode down with Calum, from the band on his Harley. (Local person, and Knowledge) I took the Royal Enfield 350 Meteor. From Aberdeenshire. Live music in Ullapool most nights
I’ve never ridden long distances or motorbike camped before I attempted the same as you , my first day was the lake district 270 miles with the view if I camp at Keswick it gives me chance to buy anything I find i need after my first night camping , second night was fort William including glen etive , third night poolewe joining the nc500 after loch carron , found that was as far as I could ride cause each day cause my Africa twin was killing my bum , I seemed to spend more time having coffee breaks cause I just had to stop
Good on you saffy i have done the Jurassic hill climb going upto applecross and its awesome the applecross inn does the best fish& chips and seafood 🦞 Good luck 🤞 with the rest of your adventures 🏍️
Chin up Ms Sprocket! I have many happy memories of getting wet riding around Scotland. As they say, you should have been here last Tuesday 😂. Stay safe and keep smiling girl 👍😊.

Bigger bikes just make sense. I started out (on the road), on a CG125, then an SV650S, then a ST1300A2, and now a K1600 GLT E. I mean, the CG struggles to do 70mph. The K16 will do that in 2nd gear, and has heated seats from the factory. Warm & wet is best. I mean, think about it, when was the last time anyone was miserable in a hot tub? Heated seats/gripts/clothing is an absolute game changer! (which it looks from the wiring that you were wearing?) Also, I spy your Insta One X mount on the bars, but I guess you didn't want to test it's level of waterproofing. Stopping when you can, before something bad happens, is the best idea. Live to ride another day, even if it doesn't go to plan.
Quite a reading of the beginning poem Saffy Listening to your body is a good thing to do. Don't end up with pneumonia as it is not fun. Hope you feel better than a waterlogged cat in the morning.
You're a braver person than me Saffy, I hate riding in the rain although it does seem to do so on my longer trips. As someone else said tuck your gloves into your jacket sleeves, otherwise the rain just wicks into your glove lining. Keep up the good work, I do enjoy your videos, giggling and all 🙂
Great stuff Saffy, I 'd love to do things like this but can't for various reasons, however I have fun following your adventures and the scrapes you get into. The "bedraggled" look carried off very well I must say lol. Have all the successes and stay safe. :>)
As youre in Scotland then i cant recommend waterproof bike gear from Scottish company Lomo enough. So cheap youd think they werw lidl clearance items, 100% waterproof and really well made. The stickers from the adventure bike festival and is a great memory for you, keep it where it is 👍🏻
Amazing to see your journey. I could feel your discomfort when it was raining so hard. At least it was dry when you finally stopped for the night. Bet you slept really well that night.
I did the nc500 the same way you are doing it as I decided the west coast is the best bit not to be missed but if I got to Ullapool and had similar weather and wanted to give up I would try and do the extra day to tongue/ Betty hill then head back Inverness as the roads through the centre of the highlands give better views than the east coast , I chose to stay at bay view campsite than Sango sands as it was more sheltered although the site was very basic indeed
Noting worse than putting on a cold wet helmet and wet gloves. That road to Applecross brings back memories, I liked the sign at the start of the road " NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED OR L DRIVERS ". Hope you got your gear dried out.
Loving these vids but I'd have found a room for the night after your first layby sleepover 😁,Scotland is beautiful even in the rain but it doesn't half spoil a trip. Looking forward to your next adventure 👍👍😎
Aha, I always carry money for a back up hotel for wurst case scenarios but honestly I feel more at ease in a tent in the wilderness than I do in a hotel room near a pub 😅
It's a tough route when the sun doesn't have your back. Absolutely breathtaking at times though. The fact you're posting these means you survived so, well done, though you may want to invest in some GTX gloves! :P Looking forward to P3!
Man, doing that by bike and sleeping bag would be great - I've only ever done it by car. I'd never be venturing into the Highlands without full waterproofs though haha. Sorry you got soaked!
Don’t be so hard on yourself! It’s an adventure, doesn’t really matter how far you get in a day. Also, in Scotland always put your sleeping bag in a dry bag!!!!
One recommendation Scott pro wet gear . 17 hours on the bike apart from 3 hours on the bout England to the west side of Ireland rain all the way to start the wild Atlantic way . Bone dry . Scott pro gear check it out .
brilliant drone shots Saffy, "Tractor Tom", is that the new name for the new bike? , you're right cameras don't really show how beautiful the landscapes are, always good to see you're still able to smile even it's all going wrong.
Discretion is the better part of valour. Better to call it a day and save you and your bike. Do you carry a brew kit? Even just some coffee sachets will make a morale boosting brew. Keepbon keeping on and keep it shiny side up ❤.
It's never any fun when you're soaked through, and the rain keeps coming down. Wow, that's almost a blues song. Right! Where's my keyboard, I need to put some chords to my lyrics.
Shame that you seem to think breaking the law by wild camping is worthy of you including it in you video.
😂😂😂😂 Wild Camping in legal in Scotland 😂😂😂

When you got to sleep, you have no choice. Wish we could all be as perfect as you
Poor Nick. Too used to obediently following the increasingly life restricting regulations, laws, and bye laws south of the border.
Even if south of the border, it’s a terrible law and should be broken, if done responsibly.

Good job 👍for not get pulled over by Hamish for speeding when in the Plockton area.
Loving the video Saffy, I’m hoping to do the same next month x
You'll love it!
A another enjoyable vlog saffy ❤❤❤
Thank you so much 😊
Loving these vids but I'd have found a room for the night after your first layby sleepover 😁,Scotland is beautiful even in the rain but it doesn't half spoil a trip. Looking forward to your next adventure 👍👍😎
Aha, I always carry money for a back up hotel for wurst case scenarios but honestly I feel more at ease in a tent in the wilderness than I do in a hotel room near a pub 😅
@SaffySprocket do you have a decent airbed/ sleeping mat? That would make a big difference I suppose.
It's a tough route when the sun doesn't have your back. Absolutely breathtaking at times though. The fact you're posting these means you survived so, well done, though you may want to invest in some GTX gloves! :P
Looking forward to P3!
Good decision to stop at 10.00pm , once it gets darker there are more likely to be deer lower down the hills near the road.
When are you going to stick some knobblies on and go green laning? You could do some of the A.C.T (Adventure Country Tracks).
Man, doing that by bike and sleeping bag would be great - I've only ever done it by car. I'd never be venturing into the Highlands without full waterproofs though haha. Sorry you got soaked!
You should!
Don’t be so hard on yourself! It’s an adventure, doesn’t really matter how far you get in a day. Also, in Scotland always put your sleeping bag in a dry bag!!!!
Thank you so much for your support 🙏💕
The editing of these videos is increasingly more slick with all the good techniques layering on top of each other. Et voila. 🙂
Super
🥰🥰🥰
You are a Studette !!! Cool video ...
Yes I am! 😂
One recommendation Scott pro wet gear . 17 hours on the bike apart from 3 hours on the bout England to the west side of Ireland rain all the way to start the wild Atlantic way . Bone dry . Scott pro gear check it out .
Hei Sa I liked your outdoor enjoyment🎉
Thank you 😊
Great cinematography, really enjoyed that Vid, bit of puddle over share but great stuff , keep it up 👍
brilliant drone shots Saffy, "Tractor Tom", is that the new name for the new bike? , you're right cameras don't really show how beautiful the landscapes are, always good to see you're still able to smile even it's all going wrong.
Seeing as you camp, surprised that you don't put your sleeping bag in a drybag, the sleepibng bag the most important bit of kit .
Discretion is the better part of valour. Better to call it a day and save you and your bike. Do you carry a brew kit? Even just some coffee sachets will make a morale boosting brew. Keepbon keeping on and keep it shiny side up ❤.
t Lomo for great drybags 😊
Ive heard good things about lomo!
It's never any fun when you're soaked through, and the rain keeps coming down. Wow, that's almost a blues song. Right! Where's my keyboard, I need to put some chords to my lyrics.
ahahaha I await to see the UK charts!
