Today we take a look at how to play The Byrds version of 'Mr Tambourine Man'. This version uses capo 3rd fret, but the same tutorial can be used for the Bob Dylan version, just use a capo at 3rd fret for that one!
This video features chords and the chord progression on screen, plus a full play along with "now and next" chords on screen.
If you like this, we've fully revamped the Andy Guitar Beginners Course for 2023 to include 21 jam tracks with play along videos that feature chords on screen just like in this video.

Thanks Andy! Beautiful, I love this lesson and this song! I’m 66 years old and it takes me back 🥹
Yes, chords on the screen are invaluable. Helps to anticipate and memorize. Additionally the practice repetition at slower speeds is helpful to buildup chord change timing then pull together at proper tempo.
Yes the promos on screen really is awesome
That was brilliant cheers !
I like the new format with the chords on screen and the full playalong. Thank you.
Yes please. Chords on screen help all around. Visual changes and strumming improv are so much easier to follow. Love this method and it feels wonderful to be able to learn a complete song. Thank you !
Really like the on screen chording. Excellent video sir.
Good lesson Andy.
Awesome! Chord diagrams help a lot!
Love the play along...a must be ...all the way from South Africa

This is fantastic can’t wait to start it 😊 thanks for it
Just found this lesson with on screen chords. So much better for a 53 year old complete novice like me!! Great song, great tutorial. I think you've inspired me to buy your course.
These are really great. Thanks for posting the chord charts!
Your teaching techniques are phenomenal!
I’ve followed you for friggin years Andy

You’ve taught me 12 bar blues - with intermittent licks!!
And numerous other amazing songs!
Slower ya go the easier and more memorable it becomes in your head, wrists and fingers 🎉 cheers 🍻
Nice re-vamp to the channel including chords and licks on screen. Nice Faith guitar but odd yellow nut!

Wonderful lesson, wish you could teach hard luck woman by Kiss.
Awesome! Thank you! It's definitely a classic!
Great tutorial and Love the chords displayed on screen!
Hey mate, this is a great way to learn. Any songs with 3 of 4 chords like this one would be great for beginners like myself
Great Lesson Andy - I will use this tutorial to learn to play this great song.
Great lesson Andy, thanks. I have a lot of trouble with playing and singing but I've got a feeling this is going to be really helpful. Also, you have a fine voice sir! Good work.
Brilliant just what i needed with chords on screen, great stuff Andy 🎸🎶👍
The on-screen chords are superb, and this is a great pace for a few week's old guitar newbie like myself, while providing plenty to grow into.
The one thing I was briefly confused by is the on-screen intro picking animation is reversed relative to the on-screen actual guitar neck showing the picking. I then realised the heavier weight line indicates the nut end, and worked it out.
I'm not sure that there is a better solution to this that is satisfactory, as showing the finger positions from the perspective of the typical guitar player is probably more useful and standard. There may be a different framing that would help?
Anyway, it's a great format and satisfying lesson for a newbie and left me with plenty to practice!
Yes the chords are helpful
Can u add this song to your musopia?
Absolutely awesome Andy. This is a great tutorial and video. Thank you so much. You sing this song really well with a hint of Bob Dillon throw in 😊
Andy I think the chords being on screen are helpful, especially for changing in time and for playing along 👍. Do yo still have your blood moon? Not seen it for a long time.
Τhank you so much for this one! It is THE song that pushed me into learning the guitar, many years ago.
Could it be easy for you to make a futorial on the solo that runs through the Dylan's version? It is so amazing...
Great tutorial, just adding that the "on screen visual" at 15:05 is probably a bit confusing as you've got the notes to be played at the second fret shown on top of where the nut would be on the guitar.
🖤🖤
Hi Andy, I'm currently working on your beginner course. I'm really struggling with songs as I have dyslexia and this video is brilliant. The chords being on screen really helps me follow the changes. Please could you add this to more songs
16:50 playalong
Sang this song a thousand times busking round Europe. Consequently played around with it a lot. It works in so many ways but transposing it to F G C gives it a softer feel that goes well with the lyrics. How about Idiot Wind..

Hey Andy, do you reckon you can do a tutorial forI See The Light from Tangled. It’s got such a nice picking pattern and I’d love to be able to play it.
Would you ever consider doing wheels by foo fighters?
Hi, Andy, this was my dads favourite song. Thank you for giving me the chance to learn this song 😊
How do I get the chord sheet please, as can’t find it in the link?
Sir can you do tutorial of the way i loved you:by taylor swift i hope you do that
Great lesson. Could you do something similar for Hoochie Coochie Man?
Love your videos Andy and I'm a big fan.....however I'm 64 learned some quite chords from a friend many many years ago. Life took me down a different path. The way I was taught to play chords is different and sadly unbreakable. Such as g chord played with middle, ring and pinkie and a two finger "a" chords. Still struggling with bar chords. I can change between chords easily which keeps me motivated with your vidieos. I have a practice method I use for warm up that sounds pretty cool which involves fairly easy picking and strumming while changing chords and even sounds good when miss picking and with practice. Options are limitless when doing this. Is there a way of sending you a video of our ideas? Keep up the great work always a fan!
Can you do that for heart of gold please?
We did a lot of on screen chords for Heart Of Gold here ua-cam.com/video/KlcgFrw6HQk/v-deo.html There's not as much on screen as this video, but the tutorial is pretty comprehensive and it does include a full playthrough
Andy !!! That was freaking awesome. This has got to be the best song training video I have come across. If you had 2 SUBSCRIBE buttons, I'd sign up for both. Great job and thank you !!!
❤
Hi Andy, I’ve had around 13hrs now with a tutor, but I’m still getting muting on strings and an uncomfortable wrist - any ideas?
Awesome teacher Andy, love your videos to help me learn but just one thing.... it's confusing having the tab basically the other way round to what you're trying to play. 🎸🎵♥️
Love this song. The only thing I don't likes of this tutorial is why the thumb has to be over the fretboard,it's uncomfortable making the chord
Yes to the chord changes on the screen.
d
Can’t get the lead line without you telling us what string to pick when.
Love it!!!!
👍👍👍🇨🇦
God dam there's a lot to remember.
