My fave part was when Saiki parted the lake at the end of filming so the Maids could get easily back to their bus. But that's only on the "Making of" super secret version.😏
I thought the lake parted so Mincho could get to the cafe on the hill opposite. They have a great cake menu! I could imagine her doing her aeroplane impression as she ran through Vrooooom!
Hunky Dory Day x4! There's my contribution to the Hunky Dory Day Fund, down here in the comments. Glad to have you back. Never apologize for doing what you do in your own video. Its the reason we are here, after all.
My 2 favorite trombonist in 1 video. I think Unleash!!!!! is right up your alley. I also challenge you to react to Dawn Winery by Band Maid, and see if can hit pause .
@@JulesTheHuman Dawn Winery Theme by Band-Maid can be your finest moment when listening to that tune. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in my whole life.
Notice that Kanami's solo is picked, not tapped...and MIKU holds that final scream for 8 measures at the top of her vocal range. And, for the record, Akane's first instrument was trombone, not drums...and she still plays.
I love reactors who say that they are going to pause a Band Maid song. Then the hook, then another hook, then the drums, then the bass, then the guitar solo then the vocals and then the Miku little asides that hook 'Everybody Look'. I mean trying to react to a Band Maid song is just impossible. But great listening to the insights when you can actually find time to pause. Hunky Dory Days.
Welcome back! I kinda laughed when you asked to get this to 20 likes. I’m betting you had that in the first 30 minutes. You still got it. Can’t wait to see you do more Band Maid.
Jules! Band-Maid is on the road in the US right now!! East coast swing starts tomorrow in DC, then Philly, NYC, Boston & Meadowlands NJ, before final “Service” in Chicago. I don’t know where your at, but if you can go I’m sure you’ll have a great time. The Maids are remarkable. Then the return to Japan to open for Guns N Roses on Sun, Nov 6. Busy maids! Rock on!! 🤘🏼🎼🔥🎸😎✌🏼
Shoot. When you said trombonist the thought in my head was the Newport cigarettes Print AD with the dude "playing" a trombone on the beach. lmao! Oh the memes that has come from it. Thanks! Nice reaction.
I just seen them live in DC Jules, they were awesome, even better then my expectations and my expectations were high. Enjoyed the reaction, have a good one!
@@JulesTheHuman yep, and it was worth every dollar and every moment in line. Met so many good people before and during the concert. The did not do influencer but did perform their new instrumental, from now one. It made me wish I could have made more then one concert lol
Hi Jules! Nice to see you again. Hunky Dory is an old English expression meaning something is good. Hunky Dory is still a common expression where I live in the UK. In fact it was used a week ago in a documentary about Ukraine about Russian forces "everything is not Hunky Dory".
I had the same belief about the origin of Hunky Dory, but it turns out that it is /probably/ based on the Japanese phrase "honcho-Dori" which was brought back to the west as Hunky Dory by sailors with Commodore Perry. There are some interesting articles on the probable origins. So typically Band Maid to use an English version of a Japanese phrase in one of their songs! LOL
That was a great one, Jules! 🙂 When you get a chance, try and find the M/V for 'from now on', from the same EP. I think it might be the finest thing they've done to date, and I know that you'll really enjoy it! Your 'B game' chops are better than most people's 'A game'. Love you, man! Peace!!
Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。 As you may know, this song was played twice flawlessly in your state (Dallas and Houston) on Oct.21 and 22 at two "House of Blues" during their on-going US tour😍. This MV was filmed at a famous and old stone quarry (Ishikiri-Sanmyaku) located in Ibaraki prefecture, north of Tokyo. Kanami, the lead guitarist, was very scared when she stood near the brink of the cliff but she could defy the fear once cameras started to capture her playing scene. [source : Gekirock News]. Saiki is singing "Hunky Dory" repeatedly. It sounds to me, an aged Japanese, a kind of word play or pun. This phrase is very close to Japanese expression "Honki (本気) Dori (or Tori 撮り)" that means 「本気」= serious, earnest, sincere" and 「撮り」= filming, recording, image capturing". This is cynically suitable 😄 to what influencers do, isn't it? In the rap part Saiki is also singing "Always that one-upping contest, chit-chat chit-chat". "Chit-chat" sounds like "chicchai ちっちゃい" in Japanese. That means "tiny, trivial, frivolous, worthless etc." Miku's lyrics includes a lot of word play and Miku admitted she did it on purpose in an interview [source : Spice Oct.7] "Influencer" was played on Sep.7 at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo in Band-Maid's pre-US concert as the 13th song and that was the premiere (live debut). Just so you know, I witnessed it at the venue ヽ(^o^)丿.
AKANE (the drummer) studied at the Tokyo University of Music along with MISA!! Fun fact, AKANE also plays the piano and trombone. "Hunky Dory" means "Take a picture prettier than I am." in Japanese Miku says "chit-chat chit-chat" is in japanese"ちっちゃ". It means "He/She is petty-minded" "He/She is a person of small caliber" Japanese Interviewer: Since all five girls are cute, each of them has a different character. hunky-dory (adj.) 1866, American English (popularized c. 1870 by a Christy Minstrel song), perhaps an elaboration of hunkey "all right, satisfactory" (1861), from hunk "in a safe position" (1847) New York City slang used in street games, from Dutch honk "post, station, home," in children's play, "base, goal," from Middle Dutch honc "place of refuge, hiding place." A theory from 1876, however, traces it to Honcho dori, said to be a street in Yokohama, Japan, where sailors went for diversions of the sort sailors enjoy.
Hey Jules. Glad to see you back with Band Maid. I notice you doing the same faces I did when I first heard this. Especially the hip hop break, followed by bass solo, guitar solo, then held vocal notes. They just keep you thinking WTF. Feel free to stop, rewind, and discuss. I've always enjoyed your breakdowns and explanation of why you think things work.
When I used to do a couple reactions a week, I’d get some messages from people about the way I did my videos. So many of them so I starting saying heck it, this is mine and I do it how I want. Lol
As for the "clarity," audiophiles definitely hear differences from mix to mix, be it CD, a live show or an official MV. And even in similar formats, the mix changes, from era to era. If you like it, enjoy it, because the mix will probably be different, next year. 😏
@6:25 I'm not a musician like you, however it seems to me when Kanami begins her solo it sounds just like Bach's Toccata and Fugue. Somehow and maybe my ears are betraying me she makes that guitar sound like an organ!!
