  • In this video i talk about the comments Henry Rollins, Phil Anselmo and Vinnie Paul made and the tributes they gave to Kurt Cobain as a frontman and singer. I comment on the pressures Cobain felt and ultimately the talent he had that was sadly lost.

Kurt wanted to be a rockstar. His diaries are filled with passages about wanting to become rich and famous. The problem with Kurt wasn't that he wanted to escape fame. He thought fame would make him feel normal, and it didn't.

So uncanny that his life was parallel and similar to the protagonist in the book “Perfume” by Patrick Süskind which was one of his favorite books. He also had a song called “scentless apprentice” inspired by the book.

Well really, another thing is that he thought he'd just be a rockstar, but he didn't see the shitty business side of it, you know, like how he hated nevermind being so produced, geffen refused to let Nirvana pursue their music outlets on in utero opting for it to be all overproduced like nevermind was, just a whole slu of shit, Kurt couldn't stand the media and the constant intrusion on his life, he didn't know that came with being famous and rich, and it took a toll on him, including all the inner family struggles, heroin, the baby, all the bullshit Kurt and Courtney dealt with, and Kurt knew it would end their suffering if he ended his own, and he did, and he was right, now Courtney lives like, out in the UK, and Francis is wherever doing her own thing, Kurt is In peace, forever 27 years old, as everyone else grew older, and wiser with age, and Kurt became the distant past, as unfortunate as it is

Kurt was a very sensitive guy. I think it's a huge part of his artistry and charisma. I think Rollins was on point, media exposition is brutal. Sum that with drug addiction, pressure from the record label and a disruptive relationship with Courtney Love, voilà, you're on the edge of suicide. He could have been saved, but he would need a LOT of support and just couldn't be left alone. I'm still sad from his passing. He deserved to be happy.

I red that he was in constant pain because of him playing the wrong kind of guitars for years (he was left handed). But he had even stated in interviews before he died that they had it under control and he felt great. Being a left handed guitarist had nothing to do with it. As for Pantera... Far Beyond driven when it was released on March 22, 1994, Far Beyond Driven became nothing short of a validation for headbangers. It roared to No. 1 on the Billboard 200(yes for all music out at the time) and earned a gold certification for 500,000 units sold in the U.S. within two months of its release.

Exactly!!!!...I remember well buying far beyond driven then I played that album ridiculously over & over for week's straight just couldn't get enough of it as it was a masterful gem with all the technicalities in each song with how tight the members were as a unit alongside there incredible musicianship made PanterA become as popular & successful touring act as they became a major driving force til a bit past 96 when Phillip began having his "serious personal issues" start surfacing ultimately affecting his performances on stage, the strained relationship with band mates, the growing distancing of himself from that band, unfortunately was the beginning of the end for this great band.

I think Kurt actually did want to become a successful musican. That was his dream and he put all of his efforts into music only. His close friends and family said he was quite lazy as a person and lacked any motivation to get a regular 9 to 5 job, I believe his mom kicked him out of the house for that reason. So I do believe he wanted to become a famous musician. I just don't think he liked the reality of being a celebrity. He seemed like a down to earth humble guy. Kurt was murdered. Handwriting template found in Courtney loves bag couple days after kurts death, shotgun shell found opposite side of action (to hurts left not the right), the fact that he has copious amounts of heroin in his system (enough to kill an elephant), caps put on needles after used and packed away (why would you do that when your killing yourself, and also how he manage to do all that place his favourite objects around him and boot up?), the fact there was a pre nuptial agreement and Courtney wouldn't have got anything if he divorced her, the fact Courtney was rumoured to have been having an affair, and if that's not enough listen to what there nanny said about the nature of there conversations week's before his death. Also kurts credit cards were being used the same day Seattle police said he would have most likely died. Then automatically stop being used hours before the announcement of his death on media. I have been a massive fan and studied Kurt my entire life just about. One thing people seem to get wrong is that Kurt hated fame or shied away from it. Kurt sought fame from the very beginning. From 1987 to 1993 Kurt was infatuated with being famous and you can look to the man himself for the evidence. The moments that seem to corroborate this anti-fame mentality is just Kurt's instability, moodiness or the fact that he was just as conflicted as all of us. Now, the realities of the fame that he did capture was most definitely more than he could have imagined and ultimately handle. The only thing that rivals the shock of his death is the fact that he planned out his entire life (including many seemingly impossible tasks) and pulled it off.

Bucket is known worldwide. Yet he can walk down any street anywhere and absolutely no one would recognize him. Nobody.
Had Kurt been able to maintain that, I think things would've been different. But without going in a mask 24/7 like Buckethead, theres really no other way. Buckethead has maintained it because of his social anxieties. That's a special case. Not sure just anyone could wear a mask as much as he does.

Kurt worked hard to become famous it didn't happen over night like your video posting. Years of touring and music preceded nirvanas big break
Into the mainstream. Kurt was unstable his bipolar issues and a toxic relationship with Courtney and the rest is history.

It literally happened overnight. Yes, he did work hard for years, but they didn't gain traction until they signed with Geffen and Nevermind came out. They went from small clubs to packed arenas and massive festivals within the span of a couple weeks, and they've said as much in many interviews. "Overnight sensation" doesn't mean a band just started and became famous, it means the vast majority of their fans discovered them suddenly, and Nirvana is a prime example of that.

@@madhatter8508 you are absolutely wrong. The term over night success doesn't apply to real bands only fake ones created by record labels. Hard work is what it took.

Ask any band that made it big. Most of them have stories of the early days travelling from city to city in a shitty van, breaking down all the time, eating crackers, being broke. They wanted the masses to hear their music that they believed in so much. They knew it took hard work and persistence and kept at it.

There's no escape! Back in the 90s the tabloids we're always after Nirvana Micheal Jackson and Princess Dianna. And it wasn't the shot gun blast that ended his life.
