Could of swore blind I put a comment on here. Anyway, blinder of an episode. This really is the highlight of my week. Great banter mixed with great engineering and tractor rebuilding. What more could you ask for on a Thursday night
this is on of my Favorite episodes of the Series..... (music ....????) aside! IT'S WORTH every excruciating refrain, just to watch these master chaps at work! I will be looking forward to the next with "Beady-Eyed INTENTION" ! AWESOME Gentlemen!
@@Torquestamiya the music's great - suits the whole project, and you two superbly; who came up with the musical approach....? Thank you Kind regards Kim
It's great to see you both making progress with the fergie, one tip for future reference,a little wipe of the studs with a cloth treated with some paraffin or a dose of that penetrating spray, gets you home more easily when fitting copper gaskets, and as the block and head haven't been surfaced,by the look of it ,a slight smear of Wellseal,if you can still get it ?,would help the head gasket to seat without crinkling the copper. I'm enjoying the series very much ,thankyou both, see you next week .
Excellent. Thoroughly enjoying these. Still no dancing though? A little jig would be nice. I'm not particularly technical but I can offer that the proper name for a Mr Whippy with a chocolate flake is, of course, a 99. Great vids, keep 'em coming.
You remembered the gaskets 👏👏👏😂 SA80, make me feel old, SLR for me ! Another great episode guys, going back together easier but the bust split pin showing it’s still going to be a task to complete ! Oh and Gav showing his teeth seemed more firm firm than firm 😂
Make sure to check the clearance on the valve decompressor rack when setting valve clearance. This opens 3 valves slightly when the decompressor is applied. You can set the clearance when the valve the decompressor acts on is fully closed. Another trick of mine is to use copper washers on the bolts holding on the cam follower cover and the diesel pump gear cover on the timing cover as oil made its way out through the bolts on both my diesel Fergies. Great work and following with interest.
There's a hole in the top of the bracket around the decompressor shaft above cyl 2. Turn the shaft until you can fit a screwdriver or drill bit down into it. This lines the shaft up in the off position. Set the clearance to 30 thou for cyl 1, 2 and 4 and set cyl 3 to 45 thou. This can be done as long as the valve under it it fully closed and as long as the drill bit is holding the decompressor shaft in the off position. They rarely need setting but way better to check in case they are holding a valve open!!
Best time to check the valve sealing is any point between torquing the head down and setting the tappets. Use an adapter in the injector hole to fill each cylinder with compressed air. Spray oil into the ports and watch for bubbles.
Hello lads John sent me SNNC binge watched great work but the best is your good mates? and enjoying it thats worth having ,man made it man can fix it stay safe 👨🏻🏭
Dungarees? Here in the colonies, my 54 to30 (bought by my dad, new the year I was born) calls those carhartt bib overalls or just carhartt. That diesel engine is looking good.
Jimmy & Gav you are getting there now guy's it really coming along now. Can't see what the other boy doesn't like the music but each to there own. 😂. Rocker on keep it nice and clean also so nothing gets dropped in by mistake lol. Throttle linkage now onwards and upwards. It's looking sweet. Liked and shared as always. Brilliant episode guy's. Sry am in the North of Scotland lol eles I might of been able to help with wheels. 👌👍🚜🚜
Awesome work guys, just one question, how come you never lose a nut or a screw as you knock them accidentally onto the garage floor, I've lost hundreds😂
It might be worth giving Cheffins Machinery Auctions at Sutton, Cambridgeshire a ring for the wheels and tyres. They auction a lot of old MF tractors and wheels and tyres. The best whippy ice cream is from a permanent kiosk on the harbour at Blakeney in Norfolk. Tastes like it is made from Jersey milk, no water, just beautifully thick and creamy. I have been known to drive the 90miles just to get my “fix” from there......
Gav Jackson. Have bought quite a few things from their monthly sales for the farm over the years. Vintage stuff fetched good money there. I buy quite a bit from auctions. Even won a 1937 Rolls Royce PIII in an auction near Toulouse. Great road trip to collect it. 😁
"Gun" and "Bullet" trigger me too, chaps. (Ex-Forces. Royal Navy and MPGS. It's a Rifle and Rounds!). I do hope you didn't let Gav take that mag into the toilet - sticky pages are never good!

Hang on a minute there Stewart, so what do I call one of those double ones????with 2 flakes??🤣
@@montydog0 logically you'd say a 198. But that would be silly. Anyway, can't afford a double. The last single I saw round my way was £3.50.
Defo a double doozey!

Gav Jackson 7.62 defo a better round but a bit heavy to be carrying around, especially with a blowpipe missile too !!
Great to have you joining us old timer! SLR happiness!

We'll be checking that decompressor when setting the tappets. Is there any setting angles we should know about?

Entertaining episode again! Didn’t say much about the camshaft. What state was it in?
Somehow the camshaft survived completely unscathed, just some very light surface corrosion. Cleaned up with scotch brite. Thanks for watching
I think we covered the camshaft briefly in episode 2 or 3. Take a look and see if you can spot it.
A great video Jimmy 👍 I was just wondering why do they double springs on the valves ?

Jimmy de Ville's Garage Only to your bank balance. There are bargains but you need a “dud” filter over your eager eyes!
@@paullawrence3541 I can believe that!
Great stuff guys, really enjoyed it. Where did you get that drift for the valve guides?? Is it off the shelf or made for the job?
I made it out of a bit of fairly hard steel. Glad you’re enjoying 👍
Gav's got loads of old scrap kicking about!
We'd call what your wearing 'overalls' across the pond, not to be confused with coveralls. Dungarees are the very old name for blue jeans.
Every day is a school day. Thank you.
Hi great show lads I'm also working on a tef and just wondering what did u torque the head and conrods to
I believe conrods are around the 90 mark and head is around the 60 mark but best to check the manual figure!
Rocker 20lbs ft
Sump 12-15lbs ft
Injector 12-14lbs ft
Oil pump attachment 16-18lbs ft
Oil filter centre bolt 20lbs ft 👍
That sounds firm!
