I can't disagree. I once knew a young woman who was feeling suicidal. I just texted her the lyrics and she said that it hit her right where she needed. Great song.

Captain Lou Albano, professional wrestler playing her dad in the video (RIP). Cyndi's voice is very powerful, and underrated. You'll get to see how much if you just hit up her other popular songs. If you want to hear the power in her voice, listen to 'Change of Heart'. In that song Cyndi is backed by the world-famous Bangles on harmony vocals.
And the boyfriend in the suit is Steve Forbert, who had a hit a little earlier called Romeo's Tune. Romeo's Tune was later covered by Keith Urban, but Steve Forbert's is the much better version. Steve's still out there performing and putting on great shows.
RIP to Captain Lou Albano, the dad in the video who was a wrestler and played Mario in the Super Mario Bros. Super Show in the 90s! Also, along with this being Cyndi's big hit, she is probably one of the biggest reasons that the WWF/WWE shot into the mainstream in the 80s. She was a wrestling manager and pushed hard for wresting to be introduced to audiences on MTV, and she featured a lot of wrestlers in her stuff. It'd be cool to see you two react to some wrestling in the future!

At a time when Madonna dominated the airwaves and MTV, Cyndi Lauper came along and said "it's ok to be a little quirky and a little different" and that was awesome for a geeky kid like me! She was truly refreshing and she was one of the acts that made a real impact on the '80s.
Cyndi’s voice is so unique and amazing. She was big in the 80’s and her hair also stood out because it wasn’t very common to die your hair bright colors back then! She was also in the USA for Africa video. Try time and time, true colors, and all through the night. I really enjoy watching you guys grow your musical knowledge! Thanks for the reactions! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
You have to understand how fun it was to be a kid in the 80s. I was in the 6th for a lot of the songs you react to. At the time there was sort of a media rivalry between Madonna and Cyndi Lauper. They had no beef. It was just like which was the most talented vs. popular. The parents would have preferred that the girls looked up to Cyndi because showing up to the 6th grade wearing a black bra with a lace top over it wasn't that great a look. But we did it. People also dressed like Cyndi. A friend of mine put food coloring in her hair to make it blue. So she basically leaked all day. Otherwise, we were dressing like Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Duran Duran, Pat Benetar, etc. I actually had a "Choose Life" shirt that Wham! wore and a boy in class had a "Frankie say Relax" shirt which was about the Frankie Goes to Hollywood song. And about a year later every single one of us wore our "Sunglasses at Night". We couldn't see a thing! 🤭 I would feel bad that you missed that time but I'm starting to think you didn't. You like the 80s so much that I think you were there in your last life.
I agree. Born in the 70s and grew up in the 80s. It was the best time. The culture was great for a kid: Spielberg movies, great comedies/horror/sci-fi movies, malls, great music, fun if cheap cartoons, great toys, MTV, Atari games. It wasn’t all great but the best seemed to shine better than anything that came later and I wouldn’t trade it to be 20 years younger.
2:41 "Her voice is really catchy" Not just catchy. Her voice is one of the most treble-capable and well-modulated voices ever. And this is not just me saying, Michael Jackson once said that it was one of his favorite voices. And, without a doubt, the high-pitched voice of Cyndi Lauper is one of the best in the history of music.
Cyndi is one of the all-time coolest artists - great vocal talent, great songwriting, unique persona, and a ton of fun to see perform. I was in Grade 10 when this song came out and I remember the dance floor always filling up whenever it came on at a school dance or a party. Great choice, and great reaction as always - peace and love from Canada!

Making this video really was a breakthrough for her and her mother as they watched the about of people around them there for them and to make the success of Lauper!!
"All Through The Night", "She Bop" & "Money Changes Everything" were my favorites from Cyndi, but I agree with the other comments that "True Colors" & "Time After Time" are amazing too and were probably the most popular.
There was a time in the 80's where the girls just wanna look like Madonna or like Cyndi Lauper :-) I loved her much more than Madonna and she did one of the first massive live concerts in Chile after the dictatorship. I think the second one after Rod Stewart....There were thousands of people in our Estadio Nacional in Santiago in 1989. Fabulous experience. Of course I was there. I was like 17. Regards from Chile!!

Cyndi Lauper was a big part of the heart and soul of early MTV. She was fun and her music was great and you should really dive deep into these lyrics. She also hopped into the WWF when wrestling owned America in the '80s. True Colors is a song she sings that brings tears to my eyes every time.
In the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s I drove a 1987 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight and it had a complimentary cassette tape that came with the car when it was new that had Oldsmobile on it, I thought at the time it was some sort of manual or maintenance recommendations, or even a promotional advertisement for the dealership i bought the car at. So I popped it in and this was one of the many songs on that tape!
It was funny seeing you both sitting there with your Metallica &Korn shirts listening to Cyndi Lauper. The reason why is a friend took me to CT to see her in 2006 and all he listened to was heavy metal, and through out the whole show he was up and dancing and singing his ass off!
cyndy is a powerhouse, This song and entire album are classic, this song, TIME AFTER TIME, SHE BOP, ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT are all catchy and enjoyable. She is very flamboyant and original.
Cyndi is a beautiful person and truly down to earth persona that lacks in many women in entertainment. She started as a starving musician and many people in the music industry didn't like her, they say she sounds like a duck, people on the street didn't like the way she dressed threw rocks at her and spit on her. When she 'did' finally make it the same people started to dress like her and act like her and the music executives were wrong about her voice the public loved her! She is incredible,I am 66 yrs old Rock and Metal musician and back then couldn't get enough of her music and this is a happy feel good tune we danced to! Her first agent was her boyfriend and always tried hard for her things didn't work out no matter how hard he tried...she paid him back after they broke up by putting him in her video "Time after Time"...so people in fashion, commercials, filming industry, music industry and just about every video station could pick up on this...I believe he became successful too as a result! Ask your parents about Johnny Carson, she appeared 'Live' on his TV Show to a delighted audience and you feel her street smarts with her (I think),' Jersey' accent, Johnny is charmed by her as a people person and invites her again. Her career soars!!!
This was her first big hit in the 80's and you heard it non-stop on radio and music video programs. That was the time when M-TV actually played music videos! I remember going to see her perform live at an old auditorium in Oakland, California. My friend tried to be cute and sneak in a camera but security nabbed him and we had to walk back to the car and drop the camera off. Made it back in time for the entire show, thankfully.
Yes this song was a huge hit back in the 1980s, released in 1983. It played on MTV so many times a day. It was played everywhere, radio, dance clubs and girls would run to the dance floor to dance to it. It made Cyndi a star and young girls would try to dress and wear their hair like her.
Cyndi Lauper - I Drove All Night. She hits and holds a note at the end of that song that's just incredible! Cyndi and Roy Orbison both recorded versions of that song.
Lol,,,,Because of Cindy, at 16 I made my long hair black with Peacock blue stripes and Peacock Blue bangs, lol. Nowadays everyone has Halloween hair but in the late 70s early 80s, it was rad. 😊
This was when I began loving her. She was just fun silly goofy freeing type of person and personality. Her and Madonna were rivals as far as the Pop World went. Time after Time True Colors And her part in the song...We Are The World These songs are beautiful
It was the first major single released by Lauper as a solo artist and the lead single from her debut studio album (1983). Lauper's version gained recognition as a feminist anthem and was promoted by a Grammy-winning music video. It has been covered, either as a studio recording or in a live performance, by over 30 other artists.
Her voice is a true gift! She has so many others that you would enjoy. True Colors, Time after Time. She did the main song for the movie The Goonies: Goonies 'R' Good Enough. She is a good one!
I'll suggest gems from her 90's catalog: Who Let In The Rain, That's What I Think, Sally's Pigeons, You Don't Know, I"m Gonna Be Strong. In 1994/1995 she revamped Girls Just Want to Have Fun as Hey Now (Girls Just Want to Have Fun).
Cyndi Lauper killed it in her small part in "We Are The World" song. She's a fkn dynamite singer they had to make her step several feet from the microphone.
Time After Time, True Colors, Money Changes Everything, She Boo, All Through the Night, Change of Heart, her remake of What’s Going On. That’s a good 101.
Too much fun? ☺ Never too much!
Facts! Lol We Love You! 🙏❤️

She is so good live or was in her prime. Watch time after time live.
Cone heads is hilarious!! Yes Cindy can definitely sing you should check out her songs True Colors and Time after Time!
This will always be fun!! Cyndi is one of a kind! Very talented young lady! Thanks for reacting to her!😎😍🤩
This video just shows how we were in the 80's. Loads of fun.
This is a sound that can only come from her soul, forget the lyrics. Nothing like it before or since.
Time after time and true colors are really good as well.
Also played on MTV a lot!! Loved this! Was 18 years old and just moved into my first apartment with a friend! Great times!
The guy that came in with flowers at the end was Steve Forbert. He's also a singer who sang "Romeo's Tune".
As an 80’s kid I’ve heard this song a million times since then, never get tired of it. Never.
Lol,,,,Because of Cindy, at 16 I made my long hair black with Peacock blue stripes and Peacock Blue bangs, lol. Nowadays everyone has Halloween hair but in the late 70s early 80s, it was rad. 😊
I had a major crush on Cyndi Lauper in the 80's and 90's!! She is Awesome!
This was when I began loving her. She was just fun silly goofy freeing type of person and personality. Her and Madonna were rivals as far as the Pop World went.
Time after Time
True Colors
And her part in the song...We Are The World
These songs are beautiful
When I was a teenager, this song was EVERYWHERE! .. Time After Time is a beautiful ballad that you should really check out too.
That album is considered one of the best pop records of all time . i think in the top thirty or so.
Ahahahahaha. He was having a better time than she was!
The pure joy at this song is perfect.
Love Cyndi Lauper style & her music. True Colors is a great song & love the music video. My favorite song by her, I Drove All Night.
True Colors and Time after Time are beautiful songs by her.
Yep, that’s Cyndi. A Brooklyn girl all the way. She’s still got the accent that immediately makes it obvious where she’s from. I’ve always loved that.
True colours! Beautiful.
All Through The Night Is another beautiful song by Cyndi.
One of the songs to have fun to in the 80's. The 80's were a fun decade to be alive in.
Her part in We Are the World is awesome too.
A fun voice and serious fashion sense to match. LOL. Love Cyndi.
Time After Time, True Colors, Money Changes Everything, She Boo, All Through the Night, Change of Heart, her remake of What’s Going On. That’s a good 101.
The Coneheads started out as a recurring Saturday Night Live sketch. It featured all their regulars, Dan Akroyd, Jane Curtin, Bill Murrey, etc.
YES!!! Our Anthem!!!
When I think of the 80s this is one of the songs that springs to mind. The album that this is on called 'She's So Unusual' is briliant.
Time after time is another great song by Cindy lauper
She did the title track to the Goonies movie
Miles Davis liked Cyndi's music................."Time after Time" was a standard for him for the last 10 yrs of his life.....very cool !
