Thank you so much🥺! & the nicu tech position only requires either a Cna license or complete at least 2 semesters of nursing school. After my 3rd semester of nursing school I applied to a nicu tech job opening. That was basically it no certifications besides a BLS! I hope that helps!💕💕💕

I’m only 18 so I’m blessed to even be a CNA right now but I had an advantage because of covid I couldn’t finish my clinicals throughout high school. What route did you take ? Or would suggest ? omg! we work at the same hospital but i work on med surg. considering switching units cause i was trying to get a job in either labor and delivery or nicu before i took this job.
Oh wow! You should definitely apply I seen a labor and delivery job posting a few weeks ago I believe. As far as nicu I know they were hiring In August! Let me know if you have any questions😊

30 beds & even that is pushing it time wise to make the milk. A lot of the nurses I worked with said that the previous nicus(higher acuity) they worked at they made their own milk. So that makes sense!
honestly, dont glamorize this. there’s a lot of bereavement, loss and grief. it’s not just being around cute little babies and making milk. they are in the NICU for a reason! those babies are not in good condition and it’s often really hard to see innocent babies go through trauma.
Hi, the purpose of the video is to show what a day typically looks like for me. I also wanted to inform people these positions exist (I didn’t know & neither do a lot of ple) Some things to keep in mind, not all NICU’s are high acuity. Mine could only take cases they had a high probability of treating. Secondly, I was literally hired to make milk, and stock items (so that was my day lol not a lot of interaction.) Some NICU’s even only have milk techs and they are on a separate floor. I say that bc people who have a hard time with grief but may still want to work in NICU have those options. Im so glad you made this comment tho, bc it is hard for many to see baby’s with feeding tubes, vents, death etc.! It’s something I plan on talking about on my channel, as I’m currently experiencing grief from patients. I didn’t experience grief at that job but boy am I now. It’s one 6 min video, I would hope people understand that NICU has ICU in it and really think is this for me? Ultimately, It gave my job purpose knowing I was helping out in small/big ways throughout my shift. To those reading this know that what she said is true these jobs shouldn’t be glamorized. Use my video to inform you that jobs like this exist, and ask yourself if you can mentally handle it. Lastly, if you can handle it great because they need NICU techs! This makes the providers jobs easier and the baby’s get better, faster care. If your not sure see if you can volunteer first before you apply. I think this is a good time to say take everyone’s “day in the life” videos for face value. You don’t see what happens everyday! 😊

The best thing for you to do is to apply to Nicu’s hiring techs in your area! (Wait until a position becomes available or submit your resume.)

I was honestly naive to hospitals social media policy before I posted this. Now I definitely don’t!

How big is this nicu,( # of beds)? I'm in South Carolina in a 60 bed nicu & nurses make the milk up for our own babies. One person couldn't do it.

CNA & PCT are virtually the same position. Cna is for nursing homes, PCT is in hospitals. They work under the same license
