Proud of you brotha! My primary app is in and I'm nervous and excited for what will undoubtedly be one heck of a cycle. Appreciate you sharing your journey with us. Best of fortune to you as you begin medical school.
You are so calm. This video is great! I’m having a similar journey as far as retaking my MCAT, but I had a music teacher tell me once “Practice makes improvement. No one is perfect at anything”. Those are still words I live by, and slowly but surely I know I’ll make it. Much love and respect, from Wisconsin 😅🧀
This whole video was so cryptic. What was your GPA from undergrad? What was the Masters GPA? Cumulative GPA? What was your "good MCAT score"? It is not very helpful if your story is not relatable. I am not hating, and you do not have to share anything, obviously. I am just sharing what I was hoping to see in this video.
Thank you so much for your honesty and sharing your journey. This helps me to not be discouraged and to give up. I come across other videos where people have failed the MCAT two times and passed with the third try. Motivational video.
Thank you for sharing your story. I hope all is going well on your journey! I'm starting way late (36 in September) working towards my undergrad. My goal is to get accepted into medical school by age 42.
ommggggg i just came across your video and VCU medical school is my top school i wanna go to. i am in my 3rd year of undergrad i really hope to get into VCU.
I am a double major in Business and Psychology with a concentration in Econ and Marketing. I always enjoyed business it makes me think, and it opens you opportunities in plenty of different careers, but it is not something that fills my soul. I’ve really enjoyed psychology so far because it really allows you to understand yourself and other people, and just gives you insight on why we are how we are. I am graduating in 2025 and want to try to pursue medical school to become a psychiatrist. However, with both my degrees I won’t meet the prereqs for medical school, and I cannot fit them within the 2 yrs I have left of my undergrad. I hope to bump my GPA to a 3.5 atleast. I guess my question is if I could get an associates degree in Biology to meet the prereqs. A requirement for medschool besides the prereqs is a bachelors degree, which I would have, but I don’t know if the associates would meet the prerequisites, what advice do you all have?
As you’ve correctly stated you will need to meet the prerequisites to apply to med school. An associates may fulfill that but you just have to do a deep dive to make sure whatever program you’re looking at will do. You can also look at some post baccalaureate programs designed for those that want to get into med school. However just taking classes at your local community college will also work.
Brenda you are so right. Wish there were more black physician to full fill in the black community. So many give up and put their interests in other areas. There are more black women who are physicians than black men. Great video!
Been watching your content for 2+ years since I decided to be a doctor, and submitted my primary application for medical school :) I was really wanting to ask about acceptance with a low GPA, specifically if I should be worried? Got a 3.18 cc GPA and a 3.4 science GPA after a 3.95 post bac with a strong upward GPA. Freshman and sophomore GPA were really bad, but got a 3.89 GPA from my university after transferring. Got a 507 MCAT second attempt with a low CARS. Realistically, should I be worried about not having a shot at an allopathic medical school? Sorry for the load of information, and congrats on all your successes. Your content is inspiring a lot of people
Super encouraging video. I would love to know what program you took. I also have a not so good undergrad GPA but am currently getting my masters in public health. I am applying for this cycle and taking my MCAT July 29, so far the scores aren't looking too hot (highest score is a 494) but I am going to keep trying. If I don't get in this cycle then I will probably do a postbac program that focuses on improving studying skills and taking the MCAT or I might pay for a MCAT course (sure that would be cheaper than a post bac program).
I did a masters in Biomedical science. Watch my video about MCAT study strategy if you haven’t already it may help you prepare. Stay encouraged and stay consistent your hard work will pay off!
Take God with you in all you do family and you will succeed, no door that man closes is truly closed He makes a way. Jesus is the Way, the Life, and the Truth.. grow close to Him and He will grow close to you, talk with Him today, He is eager to talk to you❤❤❤ All love and may His light shine on all you do
I have my undergraduate in electrical engineering with 3.7gpa and my master’s in biomedical engineering with 3.35gpa. I am almost completing my mba program in healthcare but yet to take my mcat. Do you think this profile is ok ? I am aiming for 520+
I feel fucking stuck. I suck so bad on the diagnostics i haven’t even taken the MCAT. I’m just failing and wasting life. I did great in school, i have certifications and experience. I’m so mad at myself.
Your video was very insightful. I’ll be attending UR this fall as a member of the class of 2026 and I want to apply to medical school traditionally. Can you make more videos that give advice to pre meds, and about the process of applying?
First thing, first. Thanks for the video. Here go, I'm an international student, and I am like scare because in the place I live is like no require be good at school unless you want to go, to havard (is what people here think), and like is all screw up my high school GPA even science I am good at my grade is c+ something like that (and is because the professor don't like to give me higher grade for some dumb reason) anyway and like I don't know what I can to do, for make this happen like good grades at college degree i think ? Anyway is pretty much that for me, and other thing I even not in college, yet I know I freak for "nothing" but have a good reason and even because just are accepted 3.8 of international student for med school.
Hey Reuben! I loved this video. While I’m not applying to medical school or anything, but my boyfriend is. He has a similar story and he is in his masters program right now, but he’s losing hope because he’s struggling. I’m wondering how we’re your grades during your masters?
Thanks for watching! My grades were As and Bs but I struggled in the beginning and recovered. I’d encourage your bf to reevaluate his student habits and seek help early from professors and other resources. Don’t continue a cycle of bad habits and struggle switch it up and find what works for him!
I’m a senior at a 3.3 gpa, screwed up my first 2 years in random courses like world religion and philosophy lol. I have all As in my science and maths like chem 1 and 2, physics 1, 2 , Biology 1,2 😅😅my “major courses” basically a 3.9 but I don’t think that’s how they look at it right?
3.3 is still good! Schools love to see an upward trend and it’s great that the trend is in your science classes. Schools also generally calculate your science GPA and tend to weigh that separately, but how much depends on the school probably. In my opinion the 3.9 science GPA looks very good and should bolster your 3.3 cumulative.
I started to write a response to this question, but found it’s too complex to type in the comments. My answer warrants its own video so be on the look out.
Future ND here (yes ND not MD). Your transparency was refreshing and sobering. Looking forward to future content from the channel. Stay great, stay hungry.
How old are you now? In in pharmacy school and I absolutely hate it, I’m thinking of going back to school for Med school after but I’ll be 25 when I graduate with my PharmD so idk if that’s pushing it age wise
It’s never too late! I’m turning 24 and there’s someone in my class who’s 32. There are folks even older who go to med school. So if you decide this is what you want to do then do it!
Do you think this is still the case had your ethnicity background be different? Would Asians or White people with low scores similar to yours for example, have the same probability of getting into medical school as you?
Yes. My race was not the main factor in my acceptance. I got help with my application, I got a masters and significantly improved my MCAT. I demonstrated great work ethic and presented a great all around application. A white or Asian person with that same background should be competitive. Furthermore affirmative action was ended by the Supreme Court.

I love that quote! Thats definitely the way!
this really encouraging as i’m dying in physics right now LOL…thanks for being so down to earth in your message it was rlly reassuring 💯
Good luck to you! I STRUGGLED in physics so don’t let it keep you down
About to be taking that. Any classes you'd recommend taking before this?
Thank you for your videos bro. Its definitely encouraging seeing someone who looks like me overcome similar obstacles I'm facing on this journey ✊🏾

Yeah I agree. It needs more specifics especially given the fact that this video is 2 years old.
Congrats on all your success man! Looking forward to hearing that rest of your journey in medicine

As a nontraditional student, this was an interesting perspective.
University of Richmond is an awesome school apparently. I’m a VA native. Excited to watch your journey
Your journey sounds incredibly inspiring!
Congratulations on getting accepted into medical school, I love seeing more African Americans in medicine, it’s awesome to see.
thank you. I'm inspired. Preparing for my mcat as well. thanks
This is the second video of yours that I’ve watched. Thank you for sharing your journey with us! These videos are so helpful and encouraging.

YES!!! Make a video about the program because i am in the same boat, I am struggling and don't know the process and I am just lost.

511
I am thinking to take it,but I don't know as medical school takes a long time and I turned 42 this September 😆
