Im a senior in high school and being a NICU nurse practioner is my dream job and i just want to know how long were you in college and how long did it take to be NICU nurse?

@@SLURPAINESOUP You can become a NICU the same way you become any other type of nurse, but there are different avenues of schooling you can choose to complete before you can take the national nursing license exam one must pass in order to actually become any type of nurse. You can look into Associate Degrees in Nursing offered at a "community" or "junior" 2 year college, ( or in some states they may even now be called a "state" college if they offer a few 4 year degree programs at the school even though most of the offered degrees are still comparable in closer to 2 years. The Associates Degree in Nursing is the quickest way to get to take your national licensing exam and be able to start working as a registered nurse somewhere, although it will take most people longer than just a normal 2 years or 4 semester s to finish because there are about 6 to 9 college classes called prerequisite classes that students must first take, and hopefully get high grades in each of those classes, before most nursing programs at every 2 year community or junior college will let you apply to get onto their nursing degree program and start taking actual nursing classes. You want to get the highest grades you possibly can in all your college classes, but especially on any prerequisite classes the college you are looking at require, and it will vary by college, because so many people want to go to these nursing colleges because they are usually much cheaper than paying to go to any 4 year colleges, whether they are private or public, and usually much cheaper than any of the for-profit private vocational Nursing colleges, like Chamberlain, Fortis, Keiser..., so you will have a whole lot of other students also competing with you for the chance to go to those nursing schools. So the better your grades in all your classes, the better your chance of getting accepted into those very popular (because they are cheaper) 2 year nursing degree programs. Once you do graduate with your Associates Degree in Nursing, an ADN, and you pass your national exam given by your state, you can start a job as many different k ok new of nurses, and can sometimes even get hired by a hospital to work as a NICU nurse as your very first nursing job, though some hospitals may require you to have other nursing experience first, so it varies. Plus, most hospitals will force you to then take all the classes you still need to get your 4 year Bachelors of Science in Nursing within a few years time to keep your job, but you can usually take these classes online, so you can keep working while you take the extra classes online needed to get your 4 year Bachelor's in Science Degree finished, plus this way your first employer, ( usually a hospital for most new nurses) will often pay you money to help pay for your tuition for those classes !! Or you can apply to a 4 yearc9oll

hey! Usually it’s 4 years of college, then you will have to look for a nicu nurse residency. After you work in the nicu for 2 years, you apply to nnp programs.
Or you can go my route and I got my bachelor’s first. Then you can apply for an accelerated nursing program( you need to fulfill the prerequisites for the nursing school you apply to). After, finding the job and apply to nnp programs is the same. I’m in my last semester and just got a new grad nicu nurse job
