@adrian tongco Now my average is around 25 secs and record 16 secs, so I could finally watch this video as I'm almost sub 20 lol Btw thanks for reminding me that I had this comment here, I just got a notification and I was like woah, I've improved, even though I feel like I've been stuck at 25s for a long time
@adrian tongco I don't use facebook, but it was nice talking to you here :) Now I got more motivation for cubing, maybe I should practice now so I could average under 20sec xD
@@a_muchacho Hey all... I'm now just under a minute!! That was my goal when I bought the cube. I've been on and off with cubing due to family stuff and work. Not bad for an "older guy" LOL! 62 :-) Still working on F2L...can do it, but I'm slow on the last corner. Take care all.
To eliminate regrips, you can also do the U moves from a differ angle, and use the back of your finger on the other hand and pull instead of pushing with your fingertip.
Great info! This is great help for learners like me. I definitely agree with making F2L more efficient with better algorithm then really committing it to muscle memory. Only then one can do the wonderful look-ahead.
Even so much later, this video is so applicable, I really only started to focus more on look ahead once I got to averaging like 15/16 seconds, I’m down to 12 now
Thanks for this video, I recently accomplished averaging sub-20 and I still want to continue improving. I'll try these tips and see if I can get better.
I would say that f2l efficiency is more important than lookahead at sub 20 but that doesnt mean that you shouldnt practise it at all bcuz you are gonna get rekt in the future. Here is what i consider most important in beyond sub 20 cfop: 1)F2L efficiency 2)Lookahead (both in cross and f2l) 3) 2-look OLL (maybe even full oll) and full pll 4)Cross execution without looking at it for better lookahead 5)AUF
I learned my f2l from an algorithm sheet and all of the cases are extremely efficient. Some people say to learn it intuitively and it doesn’t make sense at all.
thank you, I knew most people say the bad advice, but each time when I do it, just to try it, I feel slower, and the solve is slower and less fun, I'll take your advice, and I will get more good at F2L
Thanks! The triple sexy move really helped me, but I think it would have been a lot better if you had shown the other sides of the cube so we could see which case it actually was. Other than that, pretty helpful video.
Your right!! I tried working on my look ahead to get a sub 30 average, but I managed to make my times slower. I tried being more efficient and got a sub 30 average! I don't even know all of my f2l algorithms yet, nor do I know oll, and pll.
i feel like sub 20 is the final milestone you can get by learning algorithms, and every sub-x goal after that is just improving efficiency, tps, and other solving skills
Only for the thumb finger trick in 6:58 I'll give you a super like. I didn't know that and it helps a lot for the sune oll. I'm finally sub 30 thanks to you my avg is 25 and today I got a 22 (it was amazing for me, I can't explain you what I felt) I can't wait to reach the sub 20 barrier. Are you going to participate in the 2019 world championship in Australia?
3:50 Why would you do 3(sexy)? You can just do R2 U R2 U’ R2, which is the Cuboid insertion alg because you’re moving the corner down into the back on the bottom with an R2, doing the U to move the cross edge & other corner over, undoing the R2 to bring it back and pair up the bar in the bottom, moving it back with a U’, and putting the bar back into the bottom with another R2. However, this flips the middle bar, so just cancel into a 3(R2 U2), but get rid of the U2 at the end of the 3rd time because it’s just an AUF, so it’s rally just Sune with R2s instead of Rs & R’s, which is why it’s called Supersune: R2 U R2 U R2 U2 R2. Also, if the corner is a U2 away from being directly above the slot, you can do super antisune, so the inverse: R2 U2 R2 U’ R2 U’ R2.
I loved the video! Very helpful altough I knew all the f2l effecient cases, I just sometimes stop and don't find the pieces which I need to pair, And a bad habit of mine which I cant get over is that I do random moves when I dont see anything. Any tips? I average 18-22 seconds and my pb is 12.1
Just got sub 20 today with a crazy average and I think the main thing I’m going to do is focus on making sure I’m solving each F2L case correctly and finish learning full PLL (6 left).
Well, I average around 15,16 or 17 seconds . My average of 100 is 17.03 seconds. So when Brody says that look ahead isn't important until you reach 16-17 seconds , yeah well, I am there! But what's look ahead about? And what are some constructive tips to reach sub 15 or eventually sub 12?
I've done everything you said in the video before watching it and I'm still sub 28. I know full pll and I only need 13 more olls for full oll. I do cross on bottom and use every f2l algorithm in the video.
When people ask my pb, I just say 20 seconds even though my actual pb is, and you’re most likely not going to believe this, 19.999, no this is not a joke
Hey Brody, Thanks for the video. I currently average around 30 sec and I was trying to practice look ahead. Would you recommend that I forget about look ahead for now and try to improve on efficiency instead? My solves are a lot smoother when I try to look ahead but I want to make sure that I am working on things that will help my times the most. Would it be too much to try to work on them both at the same time?
At 30 seconds, you don't even need to be thinking about look ahead yet. Efficiency is CRUCIAL for you moving forward. That's what I think you should work on almost exclusively for now
7:49 I knew those when I was like sub 50. Sexy sledge is the first half of the Y- Perm and the other one is the Second half of the Y perm. The 2 on top are in the EO part of 2-Look OLL. I already know 31 OLLs & 14 PLLs even though I’m not sub 30 yet. I know the T, F, J, R, Y, E, A, U, H, and Z perms. The olls I know are corners only (7), edges only (3), F sexy F’ and all variants (7), Fat sune and all variants (6), the 2 on the bottom of the screen (2), fung cases aka the bar with 2 opposite corners oriented (4), and the W cases (2).
Yeah and you should also tell other people to learn GOOD oll algorithms cause some I used were horrible and when I got new ones from cyotheking's website I got sub 20
By lookahead, do you mean predicting where your next pair is going to be in advance, or do you mean just finding the pieces in advance and tracking them? Because the latter option is completely necessary to get sub-20. None of my solves where I only focus on the pair I’m currently on break the sub-20 barrier.
I know some people don't do the most efficient solutions, but that's probably because they haven't been taught or learned otherwise and they just do what makes sense. He probably did the bad solutions he's talking about at one time too
I just need to learn fingertricks. When I was not even Sub-30,I finished learning Advanced F2L When I averaged 22 seconds,I learned full OLL,full PLL,90% of COLL,tricks and a few WV,SV,VLS,ZBLL,etc. Feels like I learned algs a lot before.

in the solve you showed memyselfandpi wasnt even looking ahead he was just slowing down and pausing, the reason he paused is because of his lack of look ahead
I average about 26-30 seconds, so I don’t really know why I’m here, but the most time I spend on my solves is when I’ve just finished my cross, and I spend 2 or 3 seconds trying to find a pair to start doing F2L. Any tips?
Thanks you guys so much for all of the support recently! If this video gets 50 shares, I'll make a version for sub 15!!
BrodytheCuber yeah, but how do I get sub 20 in the first place?
The more practice, the better
BrodytheCuber to get sub 20 should I slow down and lookahead?

yeah but this is why there are people who average like 15 and can't improve because they turn super fast but have huge pauses and have no lookhead
True, but those people usually don't have efficient F2L either
