He is so proud of his family, and they look at him the same way. That's respect to the form right there.
When they give the family hug, they roll up perfectly like sushi. That's years of practice right there.
The family bonding is what's more remarkable than the food. You can see how it's the glue that keeps them so successful though the heat, rain and the everyday stress of the restaurant business in an outdoor setting. Love that!
As a Japanese-American from Los Angeles with the American sushi I've grown up with alongside the very traditional sushi, I appreciate that he offers traditional, fusion, and uniquely Brazilian sushi. I'd love to try it one day!
Ola, vem no rio de janeiro.
It was a incredible day shooting with Barcellos's family in Rio. So hard, but so exciting too! So proud of the result! Thanks Munchies!
parabéns, trampo irado
@@TheoVanUtrecht muito obrigada!
Incredible!!
@@imbaby2598 thank you!
Comeu o sushi?
This man has not learned by books but learned through life - a true character
Sou Carioca e já comi várias vezes o Sushi do Barcellos perto da minha casa e posso afirmar, é incrível!
Seeing as Brasil has the biggest Japanese population outside Japan...this makes sense his sushi would be legit
This is more of a São Paulo thing, you don’t see a lot of japanese people in Rio, but we still love sushi here
Brazil and Japan? I never knew
You’d be disappointed. Sushi here absolutely fucking sucks.
That must be why Arnaldo Barcello offered a job on the spot to the visiting sushi chef/man who just came to buy some fresh fish for the day. Arnaldo knew he had a rare chance to "catch" a good sushi chef!
This sushi looks bland and boring. What differentiates it from what you can get at any market?
I love this man's dedication to his food but more importantly his family.
This guy and his family are so humble and inspiring! What a beautiful and awesome family.
I’m from New Zealand, and this place looks amazing I’ve been to high end sushi restaurants that were standard and the experience was nice but I would love to travel there the environment the family bonding the over all vibe and happiness beats everything when serving food and sushi being my favourite I know it’ll be awesome!
This is the first real video I’ve watched listening to the Portuguese language. It sounds like Spanish, French, and Italian was combined into one.
Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, Romanian are all Latin creole languages
@@yseson_ ah. So that's what ties them all together.
Thanks for sharing me that fact.
@@yseson_ No, they are Romance languages.
Really? Brazilian Protuguais is very different from European Protugese in pronunciation. when you have a protuguese and a brazilian speaking together, you have the impression that they speak two different languages. From there to mix it with French .. There is more common word with English in French than there is with Brazilian.
And Russian haha
I love how they work together as a family and support each other.
The street food looks so fresh and delicious ..... would love to try some !!! 🤤🤤🤤
Every sushi snob cringing at this but it's literally the place I'd go to everyday if I could
I'm from Rio de Janeiro Brazil 🇧🇷 and it touched me deeply.. what a story. Just amazing 👏 😍 🙌 ❤️
Sometimes we can wonder what you want from life and I think this guy has it all and I am happy he knows it. Bless him and all the people that have such vibe.
Love this! I wish Vice/Munchies would have other segments on Brazilian cuisine. Chef’s Night out and Etc.
His sushi looks phenomenal
U know this man is truly and genuinely just this kind in real life and it’s not just for show... by the amount of time all of his employees have been WITH him. Blessings, love this energy
i love that you feature A tiny section of the Brazilian culinary scene and i hope you have more in store. Exquisite.
"única coisa fácil no início é namoro" aí é sábio kkkkkkkkkk
Eu ri, viu! Kkkkk
Olympics? No. This guy’s sushi? I want to book a trip immediately
Modern day sushi was original created as a street food. Over decades, it became more and more upscale and became an indoor food. It's quite interesting to see it becomes a street food again in a different country.
What a passionate humble sucessful man!
Fresh ingredients and lots of love makes the best food, it's just that simple. Awesome and very humbling snapshot of this family's hard work, thank you vice!
One of the best so called Documentary in 2 years. Bravo!
No ideia how I end up here. Now I just feel like visiting Rio and heading to this authentic place

The family bond is amazing!!❤️
Best Street Food Icon yet. What an incredible operation, family and PMA.
I was always more than a bit skeptic towards cream cheese in sushi when I visited my family in Brazil but I can't deny. It's pretty frikken sweet ^^
Thank you Munchies! More videos in Brasil, please! Eu amo meu país caralhow
Wow, this guy failed the same grade 3 times. His dad ends up introducing him to his true love and passion and look at the happiness of his family and the success he has had. I pray that I have the love to do this with my kids. Great story.
Why does this guy look like both step brothers combined (will Ferrell and other dude)
Rio de Janeiro muito amor envolvido! Orgulho dessa minha cidade! Aulas!
Rio is such a great place. Much love ❤️

Thank god it's lunch time here in Brazil but I don't have any sushi :(
I like chicken feet and i like sushi so i just woke up and am going to make chicken feet sushi because i dreamed about it while i was sleeping haha. what other food combinations do people get in their dreams?

Que cara sensacional! Parabén, Arnaldão! Você é uma inspiração de verdade.
That's a shit ton of people they serve. Congrats and good luck keep on the great work!!!
Great energy in this video, i like i a lot!
Munchies, make a video about the 'liberdade' district in São Paulo. The best japanese food you can find outside Japan probally, São Paulo have the biggest concentration of japanese outside Japan. Most of "sushi" you find in Brazil are really bad choices, but in Liberdade you can find the best Ramen, Udon, sushi and various other dishes of japanese cousine.
Beautiful family God bless you. Nothing is better than a healthy happy Family
Good vibes, lovely family. Wish them nothing but the best and continued success.
a portuguese face making japanese food. IM IN!
london402 Brazilian not Portuguese
Sushi is one of the most popular foods in Brazil, almost every brazilian steakhouse has a sushi menu here.
@@samira9828 portuguese face - maybe because his face resemble portuguese ppl. Nothing wrong to say that.
In the big cities in Brazil... You probably will find food from any other country ... Japanese, Italian, German etc... But be sure that you will have some Brazilian 'additions'. Even we Brazilians make fun from ourselves how do we love to have options.
There is a joke here that a decent pizza house should have at least 100 options, but everyone will just ask for one.
Some time ago, Brazil were the country where Coca Cola have more packages (even than in US, 17 in total, glass, plastic, can, you name it).
Who TF gave this video a thumbs down?
What about the street yakisoba???
Lovely family! They make it work under stressful conditions.
I live across the street from Japantown in San Francisco, where sushi is everywhere and this looks terrific!
this was so wholesome!
Lovely story!!
So an outdoor sushi restaurant. Pretty neat. Go brasil!
Great sushi stand in Brazil, wowy.

I've never been a fan of sushi but maybe I've just never had good sushi and haven't a clue what it's supposed to taste like... All those people can't be wrong :)
It's great. In fact our two children's first meal outside the home was at a sushi bar where they were in high chairs at 5 and 4 years old. To this day we celebrate events as a family at a sushi restaurant (they are grown) ;) I eat sashimi more than sushi. sashimi is just the sliced fish. Sushi describes the rice. It's a piece of fish on a ball of sushi rice. i don't need the extra carbs of the rice so I eat the dish as sashimi (no rice).
Here's what to order as a newbie. ;) Tiger Eye - It is a cooked calimari body filled with a roll of slightly cooked salmon and a roll of avocado. When the calimari body is sliced it looks like a tiger's eye. It comes with a mayo based dipping sauce that is to die for. Baked Giant Clam - It is a cubed giant clam that was broiled in a special mayo sauce with onion and smelt eggs (addictive). Mountain Potato with tuna (Yama Imo) - This is a thinly sliced Japanese Yam which is similar to crunchy jicama but with a slime like okra in a bowl with cubed raw tuna. Just pour in some soy and it is an amazing dish. Halibut Sashimi - (my favorite) very thinly sliced halibut over an ice bed with a ponzu green onion dipping sauce. There you go. Now go eat sushi, you'll never look back. ;) Later on you can get into the crazy good raw stuff like uni (raw sea urchin roe).
@@JoeBlow_4I love tuna, okra, jicama.... I think I may to find a place to try some of these. I love in the Midwest... Not sure what restaurant I should try. Maybe I'll do a shoutout on fb :) thank you for all the wonderful suggestions!
@@JoeBlow_4 my daughter and son in law... It's like their fav. I laugh at how my grandson would throw his arms in the air and yell everytime they went for sushi when they pulled up to the restaurant before he could even talk. (what most kids do when they see the golden arches lol)
@@CheritheChef Our kids were the same way. There are great sushi restaurants everywhere. I would look for one that uses real crab meat in their california roll instead of surimi crab (fake crab). THAT will tell you everything you need to know about the restaurant. BTW, a California Roll is the very first sushi roll to get. It's cooked crab and avocado in a roll. Can't get any safer than that ;)
