You can definitely tell exactly how Tyler feels playing this instrument. The sheer weight of all that guitar stands for crashed down onto him and the only thing he could do was play. I didn't stop smiling the entire time he was playing, it's truly a wonderful thing watching a musician fill the room with thankfulness, honor, courage and absolute humbleness. You could change your UA-cam channel name to “Music is Expensive”
i mean music IS expensive tbh
Underrated comment
I love this comment but I hate the fact that it is true.
The guitar is only expensive given the person and history.
Otherwise it's just the same as any other guitar.
You could go get a $75 guitar from some pawn shop and fix any issues if any at all. Then go about crafting YOUR voicing and phrasing and maybe get somewhere.
By making a name in one way or another suddenly that $75 guitar is now worth some major bank.
I mean, if you were never told that it's Clapton's guitar you'd think it's simply just another Strat and wouldn't really think twice about anything.
Totally

I'm in for $1000 Canadian dollars
I like your the suggested video under this one, sprawled out amount all your bbs

The guitar that Tyler played is a hardtail Strat. It has a 1954 button string tree. In the video, Eric Clapton's guitar has a tremolo (not hardtail): see 7:54 minutes into the video. The video showed a CBS logo with a large headstock.
Headstock of the guitar on Clapton movie clip is from the 70's (big Headstock). This one is the "normal" Fender Strat Headstock...
Hmmm. I'm inclined to agree. Compare headstock details on 5:35 (modern headstock, some logo in head of headstock) and at around 8:44 in the vid. We do not seem to be looking at the same guitar and that's what it's all about - is it not?
Well, nobody placed a bid on this guitar anyway. Something odd going on here maybe?
If every viewer gave a dollar, we could buy it and all take turns playing it.

Wow man I can't believe how you were handling it with one hand so nonchalantly. I would have had two hands on that thing at all times
Now, that's funny. If not for your comment, I never would have remembered this little story, about a similar situation.
I was in a jewelry store somewhere, maybe back in Ohio, at least 40 years ago.
The store wasn't a typical jewelry store. There were items of all kinds displayed in cases, on tables, stands, and shelves, but where only the employees could actually touch them.
There was one particular vase on a shelf, that had what appeared to be old world Chinese decorations painted on it.
It was marked 'only' $20,000 or so, if I remember correctly. Nothing like your Strat there.
The vase was on the wall, behind a counter that totally prevented me from getting anywhere near it.
Still, when I saw the price, I carefully and deliberately backed away from the counter, all the way to the wall behind me. I couldn't get any farther away.
I thought, if that thing somehow mysteriously falls off the shelf and breaks, I don't want to be anywhere near it when it does.
I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
You see, I remember the time, back in the 60s, when my step parent had a brand spanking new Polaroid camera. As I walked by, I guess maybe my coat brushed against it, because it fell to the floor. And, I never felt a thing.
I don't remember if it broke, or not. But, the step guy looked over at me when he heard the sound, as I said,
"It wasn't me! I swear I didn't do it!"
He said, "Well, you're the only one anywhere near it. It must have been you".
You know the saying about your whole life flashing through your mind, right before you die?
That was me. I was maybe 12 or 13 years old.
Ahhh--the good old days. 😂
@@EdwardKrzynowek-fx5to I bought this new camera thing in the eighties, built in flash. I took a few photos. It slipped out of my pocket, into the toilet bowl and never worked again.

Before anyone makes any more naïve comments about Clapton being the last person the play this guitar, lets consider reality. 1) do we know who bought the guitar at auction? did they just display it somewhere and never played it? I doubt it. 2) The strings on it are 25-35 years old. The last time EC used it was in 1985. They would go dead just sitting in the case. 3) Eric's guitar tech went over the 100+ guitars sold at auction on June 24, 1999. He certainly saw that were all tuned, because many perspective buyers were allow to inspect and play them before paying thousands of dollars for them. So guitar tech Lee Dickson and Tom, Dick and Harry have all had their mitts on it and the others before it sold and then who really knows between 1999 and 2022. it sounds beautiful
Nice, congrats!
I would definitely forget how to play when I picked that thing up.
Same bro
Haha same!
me too
Yeah me too,, go straight into playing smoke on the water or house of the rising sun..
Finally a guitar that’s proportionally expensive to the klon centaur pedal lmao
Amazing, really amazing ...
The MOMENT you turned on the amp I could tell without a doubt that it was definitely a guitar.
You're not buying what it sounds like, you're buying it for what it did.
No shit
But it sounds awesome!
@@lukaskuipers7791 Stellar communication skills there skippy ! Happy holidays now, ya miserable tiny prick
And then hang it on the wall?
and to evade taxes
"Now play Hendrix!"
(grabs lighter fluid)
"NO NO NO NO NO Not that Hendrix!!!"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
that made me laugh loud
the only Hendrix's technique I could play
Lol!

OK, up to 667. Now I'll do it. And that is a hilarious comment - Kudos to you and your quick wit...
It is amazing watching Clapton playing slide in that video with that guitar. Even more amazing is the fact that the headstock shrunk over the years since the days Clapton owned it.😃
Exactly! Totally different guitar in the video with Clapton.
100%….he’s playing a 1965-66 headstock….the one in there is something pre 1964!
@@twintriode Or at the very least, a different neck. It would not be unusual to slap a new neck on it for a touring musician (and that did look like a 70s neck) but save the original for resale. Still, most likely a totally different guitar. I mean come on, do people really think a guy that could donate 93 guitars to charity only ever own 1 burst strat?
One observation I have is the Video of Clapton playing towards the end shows him to be playing a different Stratocaster than is depicted here OR if it is the same it has a different neck/headstock. There will obviously be an explanation for that and just curious what that might be knowing from other documentaries that Clapton has in the past mixed parts from several strats to make the one he felt suited him best.
If I’d had that thing in my hands chances are I’d forget everything I know instantly for no apparent reason
that's the opposite of what should happen
Ambience20 actually that's what would happen to me.
@@charli9289 have you tried a better amp
Ambience20 nah if I had eric's guitar, i'd be playing it with his amp too. my muscle memory (and even hands) might be the problem lmao
By any chance do you know the name of the song at 6:56?
I mean now they can’t say Eric was the last person to play it
They can still say Eric put those strings on and broke them in.
Yeah. Not so Shaggadelic
Oh behaaaaave
So will d price drop now? 😅😅
We all know they're still going to. It probably wasn't even true when they said it to Tyler lol. Of _course_ someone tried it out when they received it.
I clocked on this video because of his Boognish Ween Tshirt. Sssooo fucking glad I picked it!!!
... the neck looks like a dream....and it sounds like a dream.... but.... it s only a guitar....
I have a 73... maple neck.... and a custom shop 63.... both sound amazing....
so it s in your fingers.... don t forget it
.... but great guitar... of course.... you hear it
