Bill seems like just a great, down-to earth guy. I enjoy hearing his thoughts and watching about food plots, even though I will probably never plant one myself. Interesting stuff.
great information keep up the video's ! we just planted 3 food plots last weekend about 3 acres total with some rain and fertilizer should be good venison in the freezer this fall in northern Minnesota!!
Bill could you, or one of your crew do a show on summer projects for stands in the timber. I hunt 4 food plots in box blinds and 4 tree stands in timber, to keep the pressure on any one low. I see a lot of videos setting up food plots (Midwest Whitetails are the best) but not many on improvements to stand locations in the timber. Possibly Summer work on Creek Crossing stands? Making or improving trails or blocking cover to funnel deer movement in timber? Maybe just some shooting lane work on bow stands in the timber. Hunting big woods seems to be a dying art, at least on youtube. But Deer season is not the same without spending some time on big oak ridges, if for no other reason than to get a chance to experience its beauty in the Fall. Thank you for all that you do to put this channel together, its the best teaching series for Whitetail Hunting anywhere!
Great video as usual. Quick question though. Do you ever create blocking sections on any of your plots to force deer into the plots from specific sides? More or less creating your own funnels?
I don't, but it does make sense. No reason not to do it. It just seems a bit heavy-handed to me. I just have a certain way I like to hunt the deer - more or less on their terms. Sort of like in the duck hunting days, I always wanted the birds committed to the decoys before shooting. Again, if it is legal, I will never knock it, but I may not do it. Good luck.
have yah thought bought woodchips [backk to eden] ,moisture control minerals ,im gona try this year i know it takes 2years to get establist just somthin to think about
bill, as a healthy person i worry a little about using the chemicals. u look heathy and i was wondering if it is a concern of your's??? round up is my main concern. love the show. thanks for info. great stuff. loyal follower , travis
Depends on the spot. Some you can get to easily and not create much intrusion. On private land, you can often drive right to a camera. Then you can check it nearly as often as you want. If you have to walk to a camera and spread scent, it is best to wear waders to contain the odor and then only every few days or once per week. Good luck.
When u guys do hang and hunts on public land you guys take in a tree stand and all of the steps with. You for a one insight set. Is their any reason why you don't use climbers?
Maybe because a lot of trees aren't climber friendly is my guess, hang on lets you get in a lot more places. Still think hang on stands are a pain though haha

Bill I how do you know what a good spot for a food plot?

Yes, it is worth worrying about. We try to use it as little as possible and are careful not to get it on skin or breathe it in.
How often do you guys check your cameras without educating the bucks in the area?

i have some of mine on edges of corn field and bean fields, would that disrupt any of the deer movement by going to check those once a week?
where's all the public land, pre scouting. enjoy those..

zkurtz21 is correct. Lots of trees here are not straight and have branches all over the place so the climbers would work on only a small percentage.
