    Some areas in PA are still low in prices like in Pleasant Mount, PA compared to outside of Hershey or Harrisburg - which is incredibly expensive since there's more to do, shopping is closer, etc. Pleasant Mount is beautiful but just to get to a big grocery store is almost 30 minutes, the winter is tough, going to work would be far. My husband and I are now in our 50's, we downsized and own our little house and fenced in yard but would love to move where it's closer to our grandkids. Perhaps Gettysburg but man oh man.... it's crazy expensive even some of the outside towns near there. We just saw 10 acres for 299,000 -Yep, it's crazy. To give you a comparison, a friend of mine in Illinois bought 16 acres for 40,000. To be fair, they are far from stores, shopping, but they work from home, have two dogs and cannot have children so for now living in a more rural area will work for them.

    I’d def want to buy land, but I’d also need a decent house on that land! And enough to have some sheep, goats, pigs, and chickens, and other animals and necessary shelter for them and storage for tools, equipment, etc.

    I’m from Bucks County and it has become extremely overpopulated, especially the closer you get to Philly. And it’s so hot in southeastern pa. We would like to either go up to the poconos or out west a little bit to buy land.

      I use to go up 413 as a kid with my parents .1976-1985 It was a rural road and my uncle lived in the old farmhouse up past goodnose dairies. They rented the property from the archdiocese of Philadelphia . Why they owned it I don't know?? Of course, the bypass came, and they knocked down the farmhouse for further development some years after my Aunt and Uncle passed. I don't recognize any of it anymore. I live in southern Chester county and its beautiful but taxes are shooting up and I feel the need to move even more rural.

    Just to know you own your property to do what you want is liberating. Drawback are infrastructure. No showers, plumbing, electric, etc. Need to think about that over the long term. Expense can be minimal depending on ones skill levels.

    I bought land in 1991, 22 acres in NW Pa. Paid cash. I'm looking to retire now, and would be willing to sell.

    What kind of monthly/yearly payments do you pay on land if it dosent have a house or anything on it? Like is it expensive to keep after you buy it?

    • @FrankChristopherOutdoors
      @FrankChristopherOutdoors  4 роки тому +2

      From my understanding (which is limited) it’s difficult to finance land because it’s hard to get a loan for it and if you are able to finance it through a loan provider it’s usually financed over 5-10 years which makes the payment that much higher. Unless you buy land and build on it and put it all into the same loan. If you do that though it’s big money and very expensive.

      @@FrankChristopherOutdoors I meant if you buy like 2 acers for like 12k in cash if you had it and didnt build a house on it for a few years what kind of taxes/ insurance do you pay on it? Probably a stupid question but thanks for replying

    • @FrankChristopherOutdoors
      @FrankChristopherOutdoors  4 роки тому +4

      Matthew Hess oh I see what you mean Matt. In the state of PA you don’t legally have to have insurance on bare land. And taxes would probably be cheap since there are no structures on it. Ultimately the taxes would vary depending on the township/county and the size. Does that answer your question ?

    Is it possible to buy unclaimed land without anyone owning it?
