i learned how to lace and true wheels a few years back. for me, it was always something i never thought i would be able to understand. its really simple and i recommend all riders to learn how to build and true wheels. excellent video! never stop learning!
at one point i was able to disassemble and build up and true a wheel and that was with ti spokes but now im rewatching the video just to true my wheels again its been a while since ive had to and im out of practice 😂
Damn why you making all the videos of the problems I'm going through with my bmx rn? First barspin now this! Crazy! Much love and respect brother thanks!!
Alfredo Mancuso do you have a tutorial on a shadowy half link chain instal with the v2 shadow tool? I’m putting a brand new bike together and I got the new chain tool and my first shadow chain 😁
Omfg I've been waiting on a video this good for 2 weeks. I was so unsure how to even start to true a wheel and I have one that needs the touch! THANK U SOO MUCH!!!!🤘❤
Oh this is so far very helpful I am the process of getting my back rim straightened and a few spokes replaced luckily it's only one I already did the other two it was three all the other
I learnt to true wheels when I tore my ACL and couldn't ride for ages, it makes so much more sense when you give it a go! GSPORT have a really good written guide too.
This video clarified a lot!! I trued my shadow truss/symbol wheel I have a small hop from a hug step up I caused my first time! It has a small hop I tried everything to get it out wasn’t happening. I also did the zip tie trick I need to order a truing stand. Thanks a lot though for this video very helpful!! You should do a how to on lacing a wheel as well that’d be awesome!! Stay safe Alfredo thanks for the content!!
Great video. I actually own a work stand and true stand . I've learned a few pointers from this. Like you said some rims are not coming back. I tightened mine too much. It was true. Then I went around and got more slack out. Dumb. It was at least ten years since I have used the true stand. Ill be better from the tips on here. You are a true craftsman. My craftsmanship will improve from watching this . recommended to any DIY
Just within the first few lines when he mentioned how spoke tension effects a wheel and the angle my mind was already blown…. Somehow I’ve never thought about that
this guy is good, i like his explanation more than the older video you did Alfredo, very simple, now where the hell do you buy a good stand for bmx wheel truing?
If I got hops and an untrued wheel, should I get rid of the hop or the untrued state first? (I think it would make it way more complicated and take longer if I do both at the same time right?)
Hope phu show how to lace gsport role cage rim cause I think the lacing of that rim is different than regulara lacing because of the spoke hole drilling
Life hack, put grease on the middle of the cross where the spokes meet to lessen the creaking(only a little bit), and after you true a fresh wheel expose it a little bit of elements, dust water etc. then true it again to make the wheel dialed.
Ugh, it's not right tight left loose. It's the same as turning the nut on a bolt. To add tention/tighten, you turn left. Remember, your turning the nut, NOT the bolt.
I watched it all!! cool video. thanks so much. I'm just turn 60 in may. I build used bikes and sell them, I also ride in our Local Bike life 3-4 days a week Apple Valley Ca. When I have a bent wheel i'll tape the spokes with packing tape to keep them in the same spot, then remove all the nipples and toss spoke and hub back into a doner wheel, make sure you keep the 2 spokes around the valve stem area to make it easy to put in air later. I made that mistake :( I have like 15 plus bike i keep and ride and my original 1979 Mongoose I got when I was 15 new from Ralphs Bicycle Downey Ca. How do I do this without a stand
ua-cam.com/video/Ai8GK1H-jY0/v-deo.html
Alfredo Mancuso well thank you good sir. Keep it up and be safe.
BonzerMrT I use a zip tie in n my frame. If you put the zip tie though backwards, you can remove it without wasting it.
Put it on your forks... Buddy of mine does this

It really isn’t all that complex once you understand the basics! Solid suggestion, Brian!
You had a bad experience at a different shop?
@@AlfredoMancuso what do you suggest if the wheel is really out of true, like every spoke is loose?
@@AlfredoMancuso Do you need what tension is ok for a samebike lo26 ii? Spokes and 198mm in length.
at one point i was able to disassemble and build up and true a wheel and that was with ti spokes but now im rewatching the video just to true my wheels again its been a while since ive had to and im out of practice 😂
Iv watched this and the lacing video so many times and finally just built my first set of wheels … no more waiting on sets to be built ! Thank you
I never realized that I lived so close to this shop. I found it by accident running an errand this past weekend🙌
Well that guy knows how to teach and he really sounds like he do know what he's doing! thumbs up!!!
Never had a more convenient video, right on time!

Love the videos with phu
He’s da man
I have never laced a wheel, hell I had no idea how to fix a rim until I just did it, one of these days I'm gonna try
ua-cam.com/video/AGKEdlWpMXI/v-deo.html
For when you’re ready to give it a try
@@AlfredoMancuso Thanks man,
Anytime
When ever I drop off or land hard my spokes always creaks and annoys me does that mean my spokes loose or something
usually that's the case but if they only creak when you land really hard it is fine. . . remember that they do have to be a little loose
Precisely!
💯

Hahaa thanks for the back handed compliment
do you tighten clockwise or counter clockwise?
Clockwise or “righty tighty”
Because of your OG vid, my single wall stock wheels are still going strong. I don’t go big but I’m 180lbs 😂
same!
PHU THE MASTER
Wise beyond his years!
hi alfredo your a big inspiration to me i love the videos and on tech thursday or how to tuesday could you make a dirt jump tutorial
Dude! That’s such a good idea!!! Thanks man!!
If I got hops and an untrued wheel, should I get rid of the hop or the untrued state first?
(I think it would make it way more complicated and take longer if I do both at the same time right?)
After truing the rim, do I just tighten all the spokes until the spoke tension is good?
is a tension meter required?
What about twist lacing wheels? Is that still a thing? Would it make the wheels stronger?
Love the Fu vids!
Phu is the man
New to BMX and never heard of truing a wheel. Just changed my front tire and it wobbles.
I did my first wheel on a dirt bike and it’s not tru and all the spokes are tight what do I do
thx for the video! which tool do you recommend?
Park Tools
Hope phu show how to lace gsport role cage rim cause I think the lacing of that rim is different than regulara lacing because of the spoke hole drilling
Does this work with SE bikes
All bikes!
What wheel is that cause i have the same one but i don’t know what brand it is
Please do trueing hub with different flanges. Like one side is bigger than the other...
Thanks man!
You’re welcome!
what up with 48 rims bmx racing rims with discs brakes
my spokes get loose after two day riding and the wheels are brand new! whats the cause??
9:17 For 3 cross spoke patten it gos over under and in to the rim 👍
👍🏻
How long does it take to re-spoke a wheel?
How dose fu feel about twisted spokes ?
They look cool, but they are not truly strong enough for BMX
The guys shirt has the old graffix's of "zeronine" from like mid to late 80's.
I use a test indicator and mag base and get the wheel running true within .003-.005”
Life hack, put grease on the middle of the cross where the spokes meet to lessen the creaking(only a little bit), and after you true a fresh wheel expose it a little bit of elements, dust water etc. then true it again to make the wheel dialed.
You can also zip tie that cross section to add a tiny bit of extra tension that is also flexible 🤓
Pho I need a 24" cruiser frame
I would buy one of those epic shirts. Where can I get one? Large please

Oh man!!! I do NOT have the patience for that 🤣

Nice!!
Thank ya!
Yeah! Good answer what if people don't have those tools! to do it, then they need to take it to the pro.
7:45 a welded rim is much better then a pinned rim 👍
Way!

this can only be done this precise with a truing stand, great explanation though
Exactly!

He literally could!
phu 'tru' vu

Tighten spokes as much as you can and then true out the rim with a hammer.
It’s hard af I give up trueing wheels Just gonna take it to a shop
5:34 lol
fuck i should of watched this video about the seam thanks for the info

This looks as tedious as calibrating a floating tremolo bridge on a guitar. The Floyd rose specifically.
Ugh, it's not right tight left loose. It's the same as turning the nut on a bolt. To add tention/tighten, you turn left. Remember, your turning the nut, NOT the bolt.
