How to Fix Dead Electric Skateboard Batteries!

  • If your battery charger does not charge your electric skateboard, it may be because your battery voltage is way below 0%. You can easily fix this by using a lower voltage charger until your regular charger works on it.

If you don't have a charger you can flip a bike upside-down mesh the wheel with a motor and crank the petals, so this for around 5-10 minutes untill it turns on. Spinning it like that generates power and charges your skateboard. I just did it

I have an Evolve GT that won’t charge. My charger is a 42v/2A charger and stays green when plugged in. The battery has 10 cells and each reads roughly 4050mV. The total voltage of the pack is 40.952v with a current of .012A. I’d like to try your smaller voltage charger trick but when I look for chargers to purchase for 36v they all state they’re 42v/2A chargers. What do I purchase? Need help

I have a battery pack that charges normally but then when I ride it for a coupe of kilometers it will just die all of a sudden. It shows the charge as full initially and then once I reach like 80%, it shuts right off and it will not turn back on? Do you know what might be the problem? Or maybe you can point me to one of your videos to see how I can test or what to test? Thanks Dr.E!

I have a Halo Board carbon edition. Brand new but has not been used for 3 years. It was shipped by sea and arrived this week. Life, work, and travel restrictions eg coronavirus meant that I ended up settling in the UK. The manufacturers will not provide any support to attempt a repair myself. Their reason for not helping is that I'm no longer living in the US. I think a more honest answer would have been that they do not want to give any time on this. Thank you for your video. I would appreciate any advice that you can give eg anything I definitely should not do?
I took the top off and disconnected the battery to test its voltage with a multimeter. That gives a reading of 1.889V. The label on the battery says 6.6AH (capacity) and 36V (standard voltage). I've ordered a 2.1mmx5.5mm 12V DC Male Jack to Alligator Clip power cable connectors. Its usually used for CCTV security camera lighting but in my case I will connect it to a 200W adjustable power supply (PS201ADJT). I can only adjust the output between 5 to 15V and current limit 0 to 15A. I might have to build something to get it down to a voltage low enough to charge the battery. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I've never attempted anything like this on a lithium ion battery before. I'm likely going to have to build an LM317 voltage regulator to get this battery working again.
If anyone has to attempt something like this possibly due to very bad technical support from their skateboard manufacturer here is a useful video to build a voltage regulator. If you are in the US all of the parts can be purchased easily.

Can someone please share a link to the correct volt charger that would work for my board? He shows a close up of the 42 volt charger, but that is not helpful. I need specs for a lithium battery 10s5p 18650 36v, 10ah, 360 Wh. I'm assuming, based on this video, that I would need a charger that is lower than 36 volts, which would probably be a 7s 29.4v 1.5 A. I just want to be sure before purchasing. Thank you for your help!
