- This is my entry to the 2016 Pen Turning Challenge. I used Paduk, Curly Maple and left over turquoise colored epoxy to create a patriotic pen. I am proud to be able to say one of our service men/women will receive this pen.

The pen alone was amazing, but to see that you used a homemade lathe and probably homemade lathe tools placed this craftsmanship in a much higher level. Very fine job.
+Stephen Landry thank you for the kind words Stephen, I appreciate it
Ditto on Stephen's comments. nice save, nice pen.
Thank you for giving of yourself to a veteran...I believe he will treasure the gift not of money, but of the heart and spirit. You are one extraordinarily talented craftsman Moy, but even more, a man with a heart of gold. Bless you sir!! Love your tools...absolutely creative. Whoever said "necessity is the mother of invention" had you in mind. 👍🍺 Cheers!
Thank you very much for the awesome comment and feedback. I really do appreciate it, God bless you sir
I like the pen. But, I love the homebuilt tools. I can do pens. I can do other small projects. And I finally made a jig that works. But making shop made tools has eluded me. Very well done Sir.
Excellent work. I started watching pen making artists.
I like the way you have made all your tools out of plywood. Your lathe .
I'd like to try some day.
Great work , thx for sharing.
I didn't watch the contest but you should win 2 awards, one for the pen and one for the lathe. Super well done! 👍
Dang, Moy. Awesome work. I've been in shops that had tens of thousands of dollars worth of tools in them and watched people do a dreadful job on the simplest of projects. I'm looking at your project here thinking to myself "damn, dudes just loves it and had to find a way." Props to you and yours and everything your about. Lovely work!
That homemade turning jig is really cool, nice job on the pen. Hope to be turning my first one shortly.
Just amazing, I'm a beginner wood turning trying manufacture pens, without this kind of videos to me it was impossible, I really enjoy this art.
Congratulations Moys.

pen, but to be honest, I'm more I'm more impressed with your homemade lathe.

Beautiful pen mister! If you would like a tip, after your finished sanding with light and dark wood like you have wipe it down with an alcohol soaked paper towel. It will take some of the red off the white wood. Once again beautiful pen!
+Jimmy Bielkiewicz thanks for the tip
Moy, the pen looks great, I am very impressed how you made your tools, it's easy to spend money, you have done the same and better with your 'tools', and methods. Thank you for taking your time to show us your pen process.
