    Great job on these and covering the differences, both good and bad. Thank you! I've been running my brushless evo pro in the U.S. since Dec. 27th and loving it!

    I had a chance to drive the Evo Pro on our Utah rocks. I have to say, it is ridiculously capable out of the box.

    Great comparisons! On the FX118 - I use the RCAWD CR18P high clearance aluminum links. They are lower profile and don't have the bulky plastic ends that the Furitek links have

      They are great replacements but I wish they had rod ends on the end of the links near the axle where the shocks mount so they could be adjusted to change pinion angle on the axles.

    I may have to add an Evo Pro to the collection eventually. I am very happy with my FX118, just some new rims and tires, relocated the battery to the top of the axle/servo and it is really satisfying to drive!
    Seems odd to have a 2 speed on a comp style rig, and the extra wide axles, those would have made more sense on the FX118, with it’s combo performance/ trail leanings. Still, they can’t be perfect for everyone! Thanks for the detailed comparisons!

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  8 місяців тому

      You should! I agree that a true comp rig
      Doesn’t want a two Speed. Would be cool to find a way to make it dig instead of 2 speed.

      Furijunk couldn't design a decent RTR to save their lives. All they can do is ESC and motors without absolutely fumbling the ball even then they're pretty horrible because there's a good chance your product will be dead on arrival or kill itself almost instantly. Once that happens, good luck with CS.
      Every one of their rigs is a great build list in search of better builders.
      You could buy $300 in parts, take a trip to the zoo and throw them into a monkey enclosure and you'll leave with a better designed rig than if you gave the same parts to furijunk.

      All of their rigs are pretty terrible.

    • @striatezebra414
      @striatezebra414 9 місяців тому +3

      Definitely a step in the right direction, furitek just slapped their parts into an established chassis and did nothing at all to iron out any of the platforms issues or the issues that arise from forcing your parts into a rig they weren't intended for. Hobbyplus definitely was paying attention to all of the complaints with the fx118 and killed it with this release.

      I have the Evo Pro brushless & have had it out with my Fury Wagon & other popular minis & while the Fury wagon can hold its own it’s a matter of physics the Evo is just built to perform better especially a course. I just need to get a little brass in the front of mine my Meus wheels & tires just came & I’m surprised by how much they weigh definitely hefty gotta get them on ASAP 👍

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  8 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, it’s just got a better chassis setup. Also the wider axles and bigger tires will help but that’s because bigger always performs better (if you want a fair compare, they need to have the same track width and same length and same diameter tires.

  • @joseaponte2829
    @joseaponte2829 8 місяців тому

    I have both trucks too. I like the Evo pro more with the stock Links. My Furitek Fury Wagon i still have a problem with those furitek links adjusting correctly over many times. Rear shock wont compress all the way due to the rear top link to close hitting the bottom link. But i see more options to get right. Up front is ok could use another adjustment for all shocks to compress all the way down.

    Thanks for the comparison Ken! The Evo Pro does seem pretty close to the SCX24 scale. Certainly more so than the FCX24. Always put me off that the FCX24 looked so much bigger than the SCX24. Evo looks 1/24th and the FCX24 looks like it should be 1/18th. IMO.
    But I'm not a big fan of such fine slicing up of the scale pie. 24th, 10/12th, 1/8th, 1/4. That's good.
    Certainly in the 24th neighbourhood, they just all can't seem to get together and use the same measuring tape. LOL!
    Hopefully HP realizes at some point, Canada is actually populated with people and there are people interested in RC. Be nice if they'd consider selling up here. ( I know, I'm always the whiny Canuck...... LOL!)

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  8 місяців тому +2

      Yeah, many are very off in their scale. The issue is that they want to build a platform for a certain scale, but if you change the body, the scale can change. The FCX24 Smasher is a nearly perfect 1/24... but the fcx24 power wagon, and k5 blazer, is very much 1/18. The scx24s are almost all 1/22. The Evo Pro might be 1/22ish fi you had much smaller tires and track width.
      The UTB18... is 1/14th.

    • @wingnutbert9685
      @wingnutbert9685 8 місяців тому +1

      @@TheShopMiniRC I guess I always go by scale of the body. Window size, door size, cab/cockpit size, etc. Seems to kinda be a reliable point of reference. Tires can very greatly on 1:1 cars and trucks as can wheel base, so I don't consider them when looking at a rig. But, that just makes sense in my brain. I really like the EVO Pro. It wouldn't look out of place on a 1/24th scale course. Hopefully at some point HP will have them available at more than a couple places and zero places up here. :D

    So I have the brushless version & a lot of the more popular 1:24 & 1:18 scale minis including the Fury Wagon I’d say so far the Evo is in a different class just like in the 1:10th scale has trail / comp/ and scale the Evo definitely falls into the comp category but there just isn’t a lot of competition in that class in mini form. So Hobby Plus did its homework people are buying it like crazy it’s always out of stock & when back in stock is back out the next day I got an email alert & ordered it next day all out.

    • @johnnyhotshoe1292
      @johnnyhotshoe1292 9 місяців тому +2

      It's just harder to work with Phillips. You can stick a tiny hex head driver into tiny screw head, and it holds on to stick screws in tight places and get them started. With phillps the screws falling off driver gets frustrating. Hope that helps.
