Near as I can tell, that little bunch hexagons, are state shaped. You can see TX, and ID, NV, and AZ if you look really close, and I thought it was just me destroying the inner box, while unboxing.
I think it's an overland thing. You fill in the states you have been to. I have seen people with RVs and travel trailers with similar graphics on their rigs, with only certain states highlighted or colored.
I am so hoping these latest offerings like this and the Evo Pro will get the big wigs in the SCX24 department to WAKE THE PHUCK UP!!!! And put out newer quality products and stop ignoring their customers and UA-camr's.
@@TheShopMiniRC Fingers crossed! I would love to be a fly on the wall there. They're either getting there ears chewed off for blowing their market leading position or they just don't give a shinto. Really sad state either way. I still love the smaller size, but if I'm gonna get more, I'll scratch build.
Firstly, thank you for the extended and detailed content. I’m looking for information on the transmitter compatibility you mention in the video. I’ve attempted binding to several receivers without success. Do you have a tested known receiver that you can recommend? Thanks in advance.
There are only 2 rx that will bind with the stock remote. The one that comes with the Furitek brushless combos for the redcat or fcx trucks and the fcx rx that comes with the new brushless fcx24 (you can order it separate from FMS)
I cut the sticker off the windshield with a razor, leaving the window frame (border). I did this on my 10th scale and it made the windshield much clearer and non-tinted. I wish now that i had done it to the windows on my Gen8 before I blasted them with stickers haha.
This channel has become one of my favorite.. very calm clear voice, and you describe everything very well, better than any other channel. Thank you. Of course I've seen numerous unboxings of this rig, but had to watch yours. I'll be buying more parts and will use your link.
I appreciate the info on compression, full-droop and rubber bands. Top notch info. Really appreciate! I think I'll try that servo you suggested, maybe if I'll use a wire shrink-sleeve on the screw to fill the gap between 1.5mm and 2mm. And yep, made it all the way, long video.
Wow. Thank you sooo much. I am flattered and humbled. I just want to be sure newer people get good info and you never know who’s watching. They might be super experienced or this might be their first RC.
Cool video, I just bought a ascent 18 cool little crawler .. Im kinda new to all this but I have a question that is about tires I thought you might be able to answer it for me I recently bought a set of dj crawler tires it came with a hard and soft foam like together but you can separate them but when you do the hard foams aren't like big enough for the tire it looks like to meI Don't know are you supposed to run them together or not...
It’s very much a personal preference. Some people like to run their tires with lots of “squish” and some like them filled out. Some run “no foam” and some run 3d printed or silicone inserts. You might have to just experiment on which set up works best for you. Generally, the more weight the truck has, the more support the tires can use.
When you do your Furitek conversion and other upgrades video, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Venom Lizard vs Cedar Python. Which is more appropriate for this truck and why. And more generally, which combo for which applications/RC builds and why. I noticed your Cedar review was in more of a basher build.
Ooof. The video is already made with the venom. (It’s currently members only but will likely be live tomorrow) The cedar is definitely more of a high speed motor. It can crawl and go slow but it wants high rpm. I think if you ran a smaller 11t or even 10T pinion on it(stock is 12t) it would be even better for crawling and still have good wheel speed (plus be waterproof)
I have been having a blast comparing my Ascent 18 to my TRX4m (both stock). The Ascent 18 feels faster, yet has better low-speed. Ball bearings, portal axles, shocks that (so far) actually keep their oil and not being stuck with Traxxass proprietary electronics makes (IMHO) the Ascent 18 the winner. The price was simply the icing on the cake for me.
first? woo... a corvair... wonderful cars. that would make a cool redcat low rider! redcat descending well. that's a cool thing because many forget that sometimes going downhill can be far more challenging due to front weight bias.
I think the body draws inspiration from the old Datsun 620 pickups
Yeah, that totally makes sense.
I thought the same thing. almost like a tribute to all the mini trucks of the 70s and 80s.

I’ve tried talking to them.

The Red Cat Ascent can descend! I love how quiet the motor/drivetrain is! Can’t wait till we get some less expensive after market parts for it!
It’s definitely smooth and quiet!!

I finally got my Ascent 18 and I'm liking it so much that I bought two more..one as a gift.
Nice!!!! They are awesome rigs!
@@TheShopMiniRC what are your thoughts on brass rims? Should I only add the ring to the front? Thanks!
@@johnlujan8706 id only add the front rings. ;)
@@TheShopMiniRC Thanks
Awesome rig.. I think the grill looks like a old Datsun 4x4 truck grill.. lol
It does!
Man I like your videos, but you gotta fix that hot mic for good.
We use a Blue Yeti Mic.
For the front body mount, I redesigned it and now will not pop off.
Nice!!!

oof....that esc whine..... :( The R. A. 18 can D. !
It’s actually not toooo bad. It is there though. Not a castle though. lol.
Thank you for going in deeper review. I was wondering, what kind of servo upgrade can I get formy 1/18ascent?
Imo, the best option will be the 3flow9 torrent. I hear it should be back in stock next week!!!
I see. Thank you and more power to your channel.

Where did you get that work mat?
Amazon. It’s in the video desc at the bottom.
Great video, good information. Definitely looking forward to your brushless conversion video for this truck. I love my Ascent 18!
Thank you! I can’t wait for this thing to go brushless as well.
What size hex head did you use to remove the lower shock ball mounts?
1.5mm driver.
Thanks!

Will an FS-GT5 work with the stock unit? Thanks Ken. Great review!
No. Only the rtr flysky remotes.
