  • In this video I wash my Jeep Wrangler using some of the tips and tricks I have found. We wash and polish the Jeep and pay special attention to the black fenders and hardtop. I even show you how to create your own brush that will help you clean some of the more frustrating parts of your Jeep.

Your video popped up just in time for my break. Good tip on the mini brush.
Not owning a Wrangler yet, I didn't think about all the nooks that dirt could build up, especially the door handle. Thanks

Yeah the Mini-Brush(good name) is great. I actually felt bad after my Alaska trip. It was like I hurt the resale value of the Jeep because I just couldn't get it clean. It was good 10 feet away, but it wasn't 3 feet away clean. I do a little bit at a time now, and slowly am getting it back to where I want it to be. There are a lot of small tough to clean sections. Thanks.

Great video. jeep looks great.I'm very fussy about my jeeps appearance as well. What I use to get into those tight spots is a very soft toothbrush and it works great as well.

Rubicon 4x4er, thanks! I have some ideas, and should have some more videos coming. We haven't had great weather to be out in the garage, and work has been very busy. I just bought tires, so we should have some video on that pretty soon.

For someone who takes such good care of the Jeep, I was surprised to hear that you still developed rust. One issue I am finding in buying a TJ is that many of them are rusted out (and still at $8,000-10,000, with rust).

Great video, I am like you and keep my jeep as spotless as I can. I purchased a inexpensive not to high of a pressure electric pressure washer of of Amazon that I use to get underneath and the door hinges and under the fenders and all of the hard to get places, it works perfect for that purpose, and when I dry it after using the cloth I use my electric leaf blower to get all of the water out of the hinges, door handles, hood latches and rims, etc. So far no surface rust has shown up.
Great channel you have going, keep it up!!

What kind of pressure washer do you have? I have been thinking about this route too. I want something that will last more than one or two seasons though.

I had a Black and Decker 1400 psi cheapo that I bought at Walmart back in 02, It lasted me around 15 years, it finally died this summer. I bought another cheapo off of Amazon a few months ago. It is the "Sun Joe" not sure how long this one will last, I dont think it will last as long as the Black and Decker one did, they discontinued the Black and Decker model I had or I would have bought another one. The Sun Joe works just fine for what I want to use it for, It cleans the hard to get places and gets under the jeep pretty good, I also use it to clean the drive way and patio once in a while.
I dont use it for cleaning the engine or engine bay, thay is not a good idea.
My Son-in-Law has a gas powered 2800 psi pressure washer, but I think it is to powerful for cleaning the jeep.

I have owned and used a Karcher I bought at Costco. It lasted me well over 15 years till it died. I think it is a 1700PSI which was really good. Karcher also offers a complete line of attachments that I found very handy for other home projects as well. Mine is electric, and worked very well.

Nice video. I just got a Jeep and I'm loving it. I want to take good care of it and keep it shinny so glad I found this video. The latches on my hood are fading out so I'll have to look into this. What is that tire spray you're using?

Great job! I like to use TURTLE WAX ICE SPRAY DETAILER on everything!

I use a spray wax that has a little bit of black tint to it. It looks great on my black jeep. It is so much easier to use than paste wax, that I actually use it. Thanks for watching!

Great video! I am a new 2017 JKUR (black) owner as well and like your attention to detail and helpful suggestions. A product list would be helpful as I not really familiar with tire shine for fenders and hardtop, as well as the spray wax.
Your trips and resulting clean JK give me some hope of maintaining its paint and appearance.
looking forward to future videos and content
Thanks from the West Coast of Canada!

Jeffrey Chambers, Thanks, I will write up a product list. I never wanted to sell or endorse anything, but I have had a few people ask me about what the exact products are.
West Coast of Canada? I'm jealous. I spent a couple weeks out at HMCS Quadra on Victoria island when I was in high school. It changed my life. I love the pacific northwest and will definitely be back. It was one of the most beautiful parts of our Alaska trip.

Don’t know how I landed here but why I found this video so entertaining and I don’t even own a Jeep. Now I just want to go outside and wash my Honda.

I'm glad you liked the video. Sometimes it can be therapeutic to just spend some time cleaning. I need to get out and clean mine, its not looking so good right now. We've been traveling a lot, and there's been a lot of rain. I had two accords, I love Hondas, just not as much as my Jeep. Have a good one!

May I suggest a product called "bare bones" this spray is amazing.. It turns all metal and plastic parts to showroom condition.. It is a light oil. Excellent for wheel wells and tires too. Its pricy but well worth it.. It smells like grapes and last a long, long time.. You can find it on Amazon.. I use it when you get that whitish appearance on metal parts and plastic bumpers.. Love my JK Sahara 2011.. Showroom new.

since the time you posted this video, have you ever considered using a ceramic spray on the jeep instead of a spray wax?

Suggestion for your small brush you've created at around 2:20; have you ever tried a tooth brush? Overall helpful and nice video, get my new 2016 JKU on Wednesday, 7th

Congrats on the new Jeep! I hope you love it as much as I love mine. I did try a tooth brush, even tried to cut it down so it would fit in the many grooves of the Jeep. It was too big. I'm guessing something like a smaller paint brush could work, it probably wouldn't be as tough as the one I made though.

What's the name of the tire wet product that you use on the fenders? We recently purchased a Jeep and the fenders and bumpers need a little love.

This is the second time someone has asked that question, and unless I missed it he didn't respond either time. I suspect he doesn't want to divulge that info for some reason. I too am interested.

Order a set of these for around the torx heads, emblems, etc. They work great for the fine intricate areas.

how did you wash the bottom of your car after the trip to alaska?

    • @ExploringJeeps
      @ExploringJeeps  7 років тому +1

I'm still trying to get it clean. As I go under the jeep I will clean a spot, trying to get it back to factory. It is tough though. The gravel roads sandblasted some of the skid plates and braces underneath. I have sprayed them down with fluid film to slow rust down some. I would say I am about 50%. I work a lot and we have had a lot of rain on weekends, so I have been taking my time with it. I should have power washed it up in Fairbanks.

Thanks for taking the time in replying. What made you choose the Rubicon over the hard rock version? Just curious because we're looking into buying a wrangler unlimited. Also, did you make a video of using fluid film? I look forward to your videos. They're really informative and great!

    Wait.. washing a Jeep??

    • @ExploringJeeps
      @ExploringJeeps  7 років тому +3

Yes, washing is definitely optional... for some. It makes me sad to look at my Wrangler when it is dirty due to lack of attention. When it's dirty due to going off road, it's a badge of honor.
