Rachel lovely trousers collection you have. Coming from India I will have to say and be proud of Jodhpur. It comes from the name of the City Jodhpur in Rajasthan State in India and the King used to play polo with these trousers. When British ruled princely states in India it was introduced to West. But the design was revealed when the king had travelled to England and had to immediately get one Jodhpur stitched at the tailors. So the design was revealed and when the tailor asked what pants are these called? Indian King who wasn't well versed with English told him the place he came from. So that is our a City from India Jodhpur became a worldwide name for this trouser. It was then copied by Coco Chanel and the likes of the designers. But even now if you travel to Rajasthan you will find Jodhpur trousers in varied colours and also formal looking ones. A little history of my favourite Jodhpur for you. ❤

My 86 year old mum always called them trousers and shirts for ladies are blouses. Beautiful collection. It's often hard to find a good fit for trousers when you're taller than average so I like the tall boot solution. Well done!

Your boot/trouser combos are all so gorgeous! Using the boots to improve the fit is genius. I had one pair of 1980's trousers that were too short, so I cut off the legs and turned them into Knickerbockers (mainly because I like to say the word knickerbocker). As much fun as it is to say knickerbocker, I rarely wear them. Next time I will just wear higher boots!
Hahhahhaa the best reason there is, it's the best word 😂❤️❤️❤️ I might end up doing that with some of my pairs tbh, although it's like instantly Hobbit to me, or Huck Finn 😂😂
Yep, that pattern is called hounds tooth, and good heavens are they darling trousers . I wish Collectif still offered them. So cute!

I have a skirt just like those pants, absolutely gorgouse pattern, I have a bit of an addiction to patterns... Paisly, hounds tooth, itailian lattice, but especially hounds tooth!

that shirt is to die for! it really blends the feminine energies of the looks with the masculine pants, and creates what i like to call 'hot vintage explorer lady'. as you can see, pretty ladies make my brain shortcircuit

Hey Rachel - I wish I could rock pants like you do, it's a bit hard as a big girl for me to pull that look off. You go girl!!!
FYI - I use to wear a Jones New York Country Suits in the 1990's and I had to remove the flat stitching they used to get their pant pockets open. Their pants and jackets would look like they had fake pockets till you inspect them closely. If you feel around between the fabric you should feel pocket lining, that lets you know your good to go with your seem ripper in removing the stitching keeping the pockets closed and flat. I purchased my suits from an actual Jones New York Country store, back in the 90s and I asked the sales lady why they did this. She said many ladies wanted a flat tailored look which pockets interrupt, so they put their pockets in this way so you had the option to open them up or not. I had to open up the pockets on their jackets too. Crazy but I thought you might want to check your pants out again and see it they actually have pockets you have to dig in and open up. Hope that works for you.

Some pockets supposedly are sewn shut during the garment creation and you're supposed to undo the stitches and free the pocket later. Not sure if that's the case in modern lady trousers though.

I've been on the hunt for ages looking for vintage style trousers with belt loops. And let me tell you its be a real hard thing to find. Now that I've seen the Collectif trousers, I can now see a pair in the near future. YAY!
And I've often thought of buying a couple of mens trousers as well.
And I also have an opposite problem in the posterior department, my waist is 14 inches smaller (32) then my posterior (46) and I can never find trousers that fit my waist properly, its always to wide and I'm a huge fan of dark denim jeans that have a rubber waist. This way I never have to remember to zip, I've forgotten way to many times in the past. The cons of wearing dresses and skirts all the time.

Its so funny to think about the absolute horror I had as a teen when ever my grandma got me trousers similar to what you are showing. I was a hoodie and jeans gal till I turned 20 haha now im like....DANG IT! I could of saved so much money had I just taken those pants back then!!!!!! DARN....ME.....

"My Favorite Trousers" sounds like either an old TV show, or a Neil Simon play. Anyway, where I come from, gentlemen wear trousers (from the Scottish word trewes), ladies wear slacks, and little children wear pants. In my early days, babies wore rubber pants over diapers, which were cloth. I know, right? I'm a dinosaur. That's probably why I am also into vintage clothing, except for the rubber pants! I have a pair of trousers I bought at a thrift store that were custom made. Mr. Johnson must have been exactly the same size as me! Plus, these trousers have all the bells and whistles: little dividers in the pockets, hidden pockets, suspender (or braces) buttons, even rubber patches on the inner waistband if one chooses to wear clip-on suspenders. And I hope to single-handedly bring back pleats and cuffs to men's trouser fashion. Who's with me?
Those chocolate brown ones for Over the Top look SOOO good on you. Those and the wide leg ones from Collectif are my absolute FAV!! I wish I could dress vintage, but being the mama of two little ones and being a dance teacher requires the "leggings, sweatpants, repeat" style of dressing.

I'm in love with so many of these trousers! I wish I could wear more of these types but it's so hard to find vintage pants that work well! I feel like I'm too damn short for them so they never fit right or they make me look 50 times shorter than I already am. But you should totally embrace your inner hobbit with that outfit. ❤️❤️

In the early 1990s, jodhpurs had a fast fashion comeback. I remember my oldest sister buying 3 pairs in black houndstooth, brown houndstooth and khaki. She paired them with matching leather ankle boots, white button ups or white short sleeve knit shirts and coordinating sweater vests. She cut her hair into a curly bob and used to say she was trying to be Meryl Streep in Out of Africa. She looked adorable. I always wanted a pair I might find a pattern and make my own. Unlikely anyone has one in my size these days.

To me, trousers are a bit more formal/work appropriate than pants and more wide-legged.

In the U.K. pants are underwear so I prefer trousers as well.
As someone whose native language is not English to me trousers and pants are the same thing. In the UK it is trousers and in the states it is pants

Absolutely adore the hounds tooth pants outfit with the suspenders with the cute white blouse! My only place I ever shop where I can find the greatest treasures! I never buy brand new clothing,so there's a fee other second hand shops I love to explore!I love large cotton plaid shirts to tie at the waist with my gauzy summer midi skirts and combat boots!

Jodhpurs... I buy mine at the tack store (like for farm feed and equipment?) and if you are looking for more stylish ones the tack stores usually know where the show clothing stores are.

2. if your trousers, jackets,... has "fake" pockets but are lined from the inside undo the stitches because they were shut down during garment creation
