Hiiii a couple things: 1. Sorry for the cheesy music hahaha, it's tough to find 70's music that isn't copywritten so gimme a break 😂😭 2. These are all from my local Savers, and 3. The wig I'm wearing is from 'wfp-wigs' on eBay! They have a good selection of more 70's style wigs, including some great mullet selections 😂😂😂 Okay das it I love you all!

Rachel Maksy oh hell, funnily enough was wearing those clothes first time round except the black and stripes dress was 3/4 way up my thighs. The knee lengths I was wearing more in the late 70s, early 80s

You should try the late 70s “Annie Hall” Style. It incorporates 40s into 70s.

I was in my 20s during the 70s (and now I face being in my 70s during the 2020s!)...and I enjoyed going back and forth between looking like the girl from the "I'd like to buy the world a Coke" ad to Stevie Nix's witchy look. I still love wearing my velvet top hats, especially the purple one!

Goalsssss "I just wanna look like a archaeologist from the 1930s." "My goal is make my house seem like a museum." MEEEE
Like thats my goal. I LOVVVVEEE houses that have a very archaeologist vibe. Like with old artifacts or old maps hanging on the walls, globes and things from different cultures around the house. I loved the house at the end of Uncharted 4 because it had that feel. Thats like my goal when I get my own place eventually. I like being in the presence of history and culture. Makes me feel like home and it inspires me.

40's, 50's, 60's, 70's... It doesn't matter what time period, you always look amazing and find the best clothes. Even if 70's isn't my cup of tea, those clothes just made me change my mind 😆 It's good to see that, sometimes in the vintage community we feel the need to always keep our styles in a specific era. It's good to change up! Life is too short 😂 Actually I'm a mess, I like to mix everything lol 40's, 50's, 60's, medieval, steampunk, sometimes 90's/80's. At least we are happy, that's all that matters 😂

I love the idea of incorporating different decades into a wardrobe. Typically my casual style is inspired by the 80s and 90s with a little pin up here or there when I’m feeling sassy, and my dressier style is very 50s and 60s. I love history and fashion and mixing the two makes for a fun and unique fashion identity and way of expressing oneself and I love it!

Don't get me wrong, I adore your 40s style but I enjoyed this thrift haul so much! My favourite outfit is indeed the paisley shirt/ corduroy skirt combo, you look so good! Btw if you're looking for a button down (faux) suede skirt you should check the one by the brand Bright & Beautiful on the Collectif site! I got it after watching your haul from Collectif and I don't think I want to take it off. Ever. I'll probably be buried in it. (Psst! I checked, it's called the India skirt and it's still on sale for £7.88)
I love the suit and the Laura Ashley skirt as well.
Also "would Evie wear this" are words to live by, take that Bembridge scholars!

Sometimes I wonder if I can actually see things as they are at all or if I'm doomed to be oblivious for the rest of my life. Also, you make every decade look fabulous and beautiful. As a 70s baby, you took me back with this video. I had a purple corduroy suit that I loved and a denim jacket that my Mom embroidered flowers all over that was my absolute fave...I think that you found some real gems, and the paisley shirt will be a great addition.

  • @MrsYasha1984
    @MrsYasha1984 6 років тому +19

I don't like 70's clothing. When I think of that era, I think of huuuuuge collars, either glitter (more on TV) or colors that look like baby vomit, overtanned skin, bleached hair and a nude lip. Everything contrary to my tastes, really.
And hear you go, and make everything you bought looking so damn effin cute! 😆 so I guess it boils down on how one styles it :)

Another comment from me on an older video, but I’ve been meaning to share a sneeze trick that my Dutch friend taught me.
If you feel like you have to sneeze, you can tip your head back and more often than not, you will ...complete (?) your sneeze.
She actually said to point your nose up at the light, and seriously it took me ages to think about how my nose is not aware of the light in anyway lol.
Seriously, at first I would move to a centre of the room and tilt my nose up to the light fits on the ceiling or if outside towards the sun. So....yeah.
Obviously it doesn’t always work, but it has worked often enough that I share it with people....especially anyone who has hay fever or allergies 🤧
That’s it, I hope you see this and try it out sometime.
Thanks for your great channel, take care, eve 🙂🐿

Your outfits in this are spot-on 1970s ... so much that I think I remember wearing some of those clothes! The plaid skirt is almost exactly like one I sewed in college in the late 70s.
Most "1970s style" is over the top hippie boho. Only a few people wore things like that ... your try-on is more like what the rest of us wore.

Love this! 70's fashion definitely has a special place in my heart. Sweater dresses are just so cozy. Like walking around in a big old blanket. And I'm a sucker for big floppy hats, bell sleeves, and prairie style dresses, skirts and blouses. I'm not sure which I love more, the sassy dress or the paisley shirt. The knickknacks are super cute too.

You inspired me to brave the 70's and I'm in love. I was made for the 70's and didn't even know it! I will always go to 40's but it's been fun to switch back and forth. Especially if I want a more casual look.

Okay girl first off, I DIED when you did the X Files hat spin thing 😂 Second, I can't tell you how glad I am to see one of my favorite vintage ladies branch out into more than one decade/style! This has been a conflict for me recently deciding wether I want more 40s/50s style or more 60s/70s style because I honestly love both. I've been thinking that I need to just choose one because most people I see on Instagram just have one very specific style. You've given me the confidence to do both and wear whatever I feel like wearing. Thank you!!

Heehheee! And yes! Do what you feel like! Honestly there's no rules in fashion so don't let other people alter what makes you happy! 😊😊

I remember the 70s quite well (even though I was just a child). Brown, Orange and Mustard Yellow were huge. Cant go wrong with corduroy. And peasant tops were HUGE. And they are a top you can use for 40s styles as well (well depending on the print of course. But white/cream would be perfect). So if you come across any it would be perfect to incorporate for both eras. I agree that the huge dog ear collars were big as well. You found some great pieces!!

I missed you and Frodo so much! (don't tell I said that, don't want him to get a big head or anything) Yesss to the 70s style! Very excited to see you combining eras and having fun with it. I find it easier to shop for 70s style clothes rather than 40s at my local thrift store, so it's what I usually end up getting when I go to Savers aka the holy land.

Fun! I love your ability to see the 70's in a 90'a Laura Ashley, & the next two 2000's skirts. We lived through a crazy era shift from 69-79 - the styles were so different every season! (We sewed most of our clothes then) I dare you to dress late 70's disco!!

You are amazing at it! What I like about that is most of us have a tight budget, so your eye for a 70's look from newer stuff actually helps me. Because I grew up then, I remember the exact looks and fabrics from year to year (I sewed all my clothes) and that can actually really get in my way. You help me see the opportunity!

I love how interchangeable 70's and 40's are. I have a few 70's pieces as they are more affordable and accessible than genuine 40's and if you're creative you can make an item from 70's work in a 40's style =) Please do a video with your sister. She must have a good eye for fashion as you do and together I'm sure you guys would come up with something cool x

Yes, YES! haha I absolutely love the cross over to different decades. I think that’s what’s so fun about clothes you don’t have to choose just one aesthetic. You could totally rock a 60’s look with that mini as well ❤️

Yaaaaaas grrrrl! That wool pencil skirt is an amazing find. It looks like quality fabric and POCKETS!!!! I think that dress that was 11$ is totally worth it. It looks like something that's easy to wear which means you'll wear it a lot and definitely get your money's worth ;)
I love post-war and mid-century styles and I think people like to hate on the 1970s as "the decade that taste forgot", but there was some great stuff about it too. The wrap dress!! It wasn't invented in the 70s but that's when it really shined. I own like 3 that are all pretty clearly based on the "DVF" design and wearing them is like secretly wearing pajamas to work because they are so comfortable but so flattering.
Everything you picked up really works. You're a thifting super star.

    • @rachelmaksy
      @rachelmaksy  6 років тому

Exactly! It's so comfy I know I'll get a ton of wear from it hehe. And exactly, I love the 70's fashion so I don't get why people get bitter about it 😂
