The "best school" question is always up for debate. The reason why people say, "it depends" well it's because it does rely on several factors to be able to pinpoint which is the best school for Architecture. For me the favorable way to gauge this is by checking the board exam results which architecture school dominates the most in having their students pass the boards. But then again, we do have our reviews in various review centers and universities so that may also be a considerable factor why they passed the board exam and not mainly because of the school he/she graduated from. We have witnessed so many schools top the board exams. It is different almost everytime. 😊 How do we gauge it then? By the quality of education? By the quality of their graduates? By the percentage of passing examinees in the boards? The list goes on... I am a graduate of Mapùa. I believe, I graduated from the best school for architecture. Although, I have friends and colleagues from other schools whom I consider to be better than me in some ways... Should I say that their school is better than mine? Hahaha! Ang hirap sukatin diba? To add to that... Architecture is both a science and an art. The science part of it is based on facts and actual calculated data. The art part is based on taste, emotion and nothing much of what you can grasp as it is based on an individual's liking and preference. I believe that Architecture being an artform as much as it is also science... Cannot be specifically defined or tagged as to what is the best or the least. In short... "It depends" 😊😁😆
Hahaha! I would be biased and promote my own school. Mapùa University. Its founder, Tomas Mapùa is the 1st registered Architect in the Philippines. In terms of board exam passers, we've had our share of top 10's and at times top 1.

As an architect and lecturer myself, your videos are very helpful to the general public regarding house construction. I can't stress enough the importance of getting a Licensed and Registered Architect so that the client will be protected long-term and given a high-quality form of service.
Seek guidance lang po,may bagong lipat kmi na neighbor, dinugtungan nila yung party wall sa bandang likod ng property namin, pero ginamit nila at wall ng dirty kitchen nila.. may i ask anung reference pwede ko gamitin to prove na di pwede ung ginawa nila, kasi ayaw din nila maglagay ng firewall
Ito po ba ay subdivision o residential development? Sa ganitong klase ng development; the subdivision admin can advise the neighbor regarding your situation. Kung ito naman po ay separate properties na hindi po ginawa ng isang developer in other words kanya-kanya po ng putol ang mga lote at bahay... hindi po nila pwedeng galawin ang firewall na nasa loob ng property line niyo. Dapat gumawa sila ng sariling firewall na nakadikit lang sa inyo pero hindi naka-"kabit" o konektado sa firewall ninyo. Sana po tama pagkakaintindi ko sa question? 🙂

as long as naachieve yung nakaset sa nbcp, yung nasa building code kase minimum and if normal car parking lot/port lang pwedeng itaas mo na sa 5m yung setback if nasa tapat mismo ng carport kase recommended minimum size ng car parking lot is 2.5m x 5m. Another option is sa corner ng lote yung carport na 2.5m x 5m while maintaining yung setbacks ng bahay na 4.5m,2m,2m,2m(R1 as example), as long as 1.5 METER TALL PERIMETER WALL CUM ROOFLESS CARPORT lang if R1 yung lote. in short, depende sa lote and/or sa local ordinance/s

I’m very happy to watch this video. Kahit di ko alam rules by law ng bahay, noon ko pa gusto na marapat lang na may space ang paligid ng bahay kubg hindi lahat pero and harap at likod is a must. Kaya nakakalungkot kasi ang parents ko, pinabubungan ang likod at harap ng bahay namin. Kaya lack of ventilation ang bahay namin :(

Salamat sa knowledge. D2 sa amin nakasagad na nga sa lupa nila. May bintana pa. Taz sila pa ang mayabang. Kawalan ng building permit bago pagtayuan. Nangyayari, sino nauna magpatayo, siya ang sasagad.
Marami po talagang ganyan... mga pasaway sa rules. Pero again, the rules are for the resident's convenience and practicality naman talaga. So it is better to follow the rules because it has a reason why they were given and formulated.

Hi Micko, I'm not an expert in choosing a lot as I haven't had that much of a chance to do so... hahaha! 😆 I wish. Although, best lot size for me as a designer should be at minimum of 100 to 150sqm... in the video I mentioned a 4x15m lot which is good enough to design without too much complications in the space...lot shape as much as possible a square or rectangular shape... easy to plot the floor foorprint... for ventilation, corner lot is the best where you can fit preferably a single detached house. Choose the lot which is not too far from the main gate but far enough from the clubhouse as the clubhouse tends to be noisy during events.

Hi Architect. Nakakuha po kami ng bahay at lupa sa isang subdivision. Yung katabi naman sila ang naunang magpapader. Tapos yung hollow block na pader sakto naman talaga sa boundary nila at hindi nag overlap sa parte ng boundary namin. Tapos yung part na nakaharap sa amin, balak sana naming i-plaster para mas gumanda tignan at mas maging matibay. pero ayaw daw nilang ipagalaw at may karaoatan daw sila dahil sila ang nagpagawa at hindi naman nag encroach sa amin. kung gusto raw namin, mag double walling nalang daw basta di namin pede kahit ano sa pader na pinagawa nila
Tama po sila. Kung ang inyong property ay walang perimeter wall, kayo po ang magpapagawa nito. Kanya-kanya po talaga yan. May mga property na pre-built na o gawa na ang mga perimeter walls or fence. Pag ganun, shared kayo. Pag lote talaga ito na blanko kayo po ang magpapagawa ng lahat basta pasok po ito sa inyong property line.

Hello Canie Kim, There's a separate setback requirement for commercial spaces like a store. Pero Since it's a sari-sari store... you may need to provide a 1.5meter setback. Nagkaroon kasi ako ng project na ganyan. To be sure, you may consult with your architect or building official for approval... or if you live in a subdivision... they have set of rules to implement din if ever. You may also check with them. 🙂
Mejo mahabang usapan kasi talaga ang Building Code. It's an entire set of rule books na mahirap i-memorize (para sa akin... hehehe). So talagang every project... you really need to review it hanggang sa maisapuso mo siya.

The firewall wall should be atleast 20 centimeters (8 inches) thick with a four-hour fire resistive rating for fire protection.

Marami po talagang ganyan... mga pasaway sa rules. Pero again, the rules are for the resident's convenience and practicality naman talaga. So it is better to follow the rules because it has a reason why they were given and formulated.

tips on choosing lot, shape of the lot, near gate subdivision or far, middle, corner, triangular shape of lot, round corner lot etc.. pros and cons...✌🏻 keep it up arch!

I'm not an expert in choosing a lot as I haven't had that much of a chance to do so... hahaha! 😆 I wish.
Although, best lot size for me as a designer should be at minimum of 100 to 150sqm... in the video I mentioned a 4x15m lot which is good enough to design without too much complications in the space...lot shape as much as possible a square or rectangular shape... easy to plot the floor foorprint... for ventilation, corner lot is the best where you can fit preferably a single detached house. Choose the lot which is not too far from the main gate but far enough from the clubhouse as the clubhouse tends to be noisy during events.

2 sides po yan pag corner lot. Lahat ng sides na nakaharap sa street. Pero yung nakaharap sa main street yun ang considered as the front.

For commercial establishments required po na 5 meters ang front setback this is to provide a parking area for customers sa harapan ng property.
Hi Architect. Nakakuha po kami ng bahay at lupa sa isang subdivision. Yung katabi naman sila ang naunang magpapader. Tapos yung hollow block na pader sakto naman talaga sa boundary nila at hindi nag overlap sa parte ng boundary namin. Tapos yung part na nakaharap sa amin, balak sana naming i-plaster para mas gumanda tignan at mas maging matibay. pero ayaw daw nilang ipagalaw at may karaoatan daw sila dahil sila ang nagpagawa at hindi naman nag encroach sa amin. kung gusto raw namin, mag double walling nalang daw basta di namin pede kahit ano sa pader na pinagawa nila
Tama po sila. Kung ang inyong property ay walang perimeter wall, kayo po ang magpapagawa nito. Kanya-kanya po talaga yan.
May mga property na pre-built na o gawa na ang mga perimeter walls or fence. Pag ganun, shared kayo. Pag lote talaga ito na blanko kayo po ang magpapagawa ng lahat basta pasok po ito sa inyong property line.

There's a separate setback requirement for commercial spaces like a store. Pero Since it's a sari-sari store... you may need to provide a 1.5meter setback. Nagkaroon kasi ako ng project na ganyan. To be sure, you may consult with your architect or building official for approval... or if you live in a subdivision... they have set of rules to implement din if ever. You may also check with them. 🙂

Mejo mahabang usapan kasi talaga ang Building Code. It's an entire set of rule books na mahirap i-memorize (para sa akin... hehehe). So talagang every project... you really need to review it hanggang sa maisapuso mo siya.
