I picked up this game yesterday on a whim. I do like survival games and expected a carbon copy of one or another. I've played them all, yeah? Nooooo. How impressive this game is. Good gameplay loop (obviously as I played for 10 hours straight yesterday...)
I watched developer play on steam for aboit 3 minutes. My first impressions was that its the long dark, but not in the cold. I dunno. I hope its a game for me.
Thanks for this! Looks promising, but unless they add co-op I'm not playing. Speaking of new games, have you heard anything about "The Swordsmen X: Survival"? Launching in a couple of days and looks really good. But there's barely any coverage of it online, weirdly quiet...
Doesn’t need co op, it’s meant to be played alone. Like the long dark it’s focused on solo survival. I’m sure people will mod it but it will ruin the game imo
You can build a basic house right now, multi floors of u want to. I know more is coming along with a sailable house boat ship thing in the future. The game is very good, time management like the long dark. I’ve put about 40 hours into it so far and have don’t “most” of what they have to offer. 3 more zones to open up. If you want to look it up they have a timeline on the main site. Cheers!
@@ironhelix112 how much detail is in the building mechanics? Are there furniture buildings and decorations etc.. does it effect characters ? Example if you cold being indoor warm you up? Does indoor structure effect character?
to be fair i stressed alot its only for people who really like role play with dinos. i also only ended up doing like 3 vid son it because yeah its snooze fest
Yeah it's not a bad game, just makes some questionable design decisions. It's a pretty challenging loop to keep your hunger and thirst meters up and afflictions down while simultaneously progressing the story. There is no real 'unstuck' feature. If you get stuck in the terrain your only option is to kill yourself, respawn and then go back for your stuff...which you can find where you died...in the spot where you will get stuck if you go back... I'm not a fan of the needing to always be looking for water type of survival game, which is this game 100%. I was hoping for more of a 'The Forest' vibe but this is more like 'ATLAS' with no multiplayer. Hardcore survival people will probably enjoy this one though.
Looks great but I wont be buying it due to the same reason I didnt buy Salt 2 - no mulitplayer co-op :( us humans are social creatures everys better when u we play with friends sharing these great experiences together.. Shame cos it ticks all the right boxes and looks great :(
Not every game has to be mp I agree tho alot of survival games are better that way, this will not have it tho, the way time works when crafting can't see how they could change that or make sence for mp
Unfortunately, it still has that old, crappy looking "ark" graphics… I don't know why they can't make these survival games look more realistic and have better/improved graphics.
Hm to a degree but the ganeplay is good, it takes far more time for something as good looking as sons of the forest but the ganeplay on that was lacking. These games are made by tiny teams I prefer better ganeplay then realistic graphics
buy survival: fountain of youth here on steam store.steampowered.com/app/1967630/Survival_Fountain_of_Youth/

Good review Jade, just picked it up & am about to jump in!
thinking "Fountain of liquid-coke.*"
Mobile base is confirmed, also 3 more large zones. They have a full timeline on the main game site

It feels to me like the game that Journey of Life would be if, you know, they actually “finished” it enough
can you make camp while travelling?
Can you build a mobile base on a raft?
Taming creatures is a thing?
Can you establish some sort of economy with the local populace?
store items yeah and has bed, no taming, no npc's you meet that are alive
@@Jade-PG thanks!
lol so not Ark lol
They will have a mobile sailing base, it’s listed in the timeline

They can't add co-op due to the time mechanic.
@@rgcountdown Yeah that's a bummer

Can you build a home and live in it? Or this is one of those game that you have to progress and keep moving?
