the one weird thing about this whole scene is that they act like luke JUST realized he likes lorelai, like he hasn’t been crushing for years. i understand they needed something to get him to suddenly act but like still they act like this is a new idea in his head
One of the reasons they took so long to happen. Something always distracted them or prevented them. And when they got really close, one or both of them chickened out or didn't take it further. I think it was in like episode 2 of season 1. They have this moment, and Lorelai asks Rory if she thinks Luke is cute, and Rory says she can't date him because they can't eat at his diner if they break up. :) Luke already knew she thinks he is attractive, and they are great friends - which is one of the main reasons they keep chickening out or ignoring it. :)
i think it's more like a realization that he needed to act. they were always friends, it's not like their feelings for each other go in the way, so luke probably didn't think about it as much. accepting that he needed and deserved more is what this is about
Perhaps he was aware of the crush he had on her but it may not have been up until that moment that he realized it was more than that and that Lorelai truly was “the one” and he just had to act on it
he is aware about his feelings for her but what he JUST aware in this scene and episode was that what he did all these years (helping her and everything) are just not enough to show her that he truly loves her, he said this to jess that he thought helping her is enough to show her the act of love but he just realized bcs that cd and books that to show her that he really love her he should make a move and go for her. so finally, he did go for her

Liz's wedding and the timing of it was the biggest favor she ever did for Luke. It pretty much gave him a chance to have a "trial date" with Lorelai and see how it went before trying to make things a little bit more "proper".
I live this clip *except* for the fact that they said they were gonna meet in front of Lorelai's house but they end up meeting in front of Luke's instead. Not important, but slightly irritating nonetheless
I think he knew but just didn't realize how much until it was put into terms of realizing he goes to/thinks about her first everytime subconsciously. So once it was in the forefront of his mind instead of subconsciously,he knew he couldn't go back and therefore had no choice but to go forward.

i just don't get why they went for "woah" when he sees her face. surely something like an exasperated "of course" would make more sense than surprise. he knows since before the pilot he wants to be with her. this is just a catalyst to make it happen.
Luke's face has an entirely new look of "happiness" on it when he arrives at Lorelai's house because he now knows for certain that she's "the one".
