Love the karambit! And yes, first time I started flipping it, stuck right into my arm on the way back. You definitely learn from your mistakes;) Awesome video and be safe out there y’all!
😆
Be careful bro!
Yeah the 1st time I did, I'm glad no one was standing in front of me about 5ft.? 😆
Yea same 😂
Just got mine, just thought I need to buy more bandages
Thank you for this comment kind person, mine arrives tomorrow and now I know that definitely will gear my arms before even touching it. Thank you for saving my arm
Same 😬
My favorite karambit is the TALON by TRS. Very versatile and useful for not only self-defense but for EDC tool usage.
Love my fox 599. It's my favorite EDC
Same. For anyone unaware of the emerson wave, the look on their face when you deploy your blade in 1/10th of a second is priceless.
I got that one as well and I am in love with it! It’s swift
Fox 599, cold steel tiger claw folder, and top knives tac top are my favorite
Fox 479 evo
I have an aluminum cast karambit for training purposes and it's by far my favorite one, really light, comfortable, awesome. I'd love to have some full tang ones, but the folders can usually be better concealed. As for folders, I mostly like fox karambits as they come with the clip in the right direction, screwed from the ring side towards the blade. Most brands get that wrong and put it in the opposite way, removing the possibility of quick deploy. Also way too many brands get the grip on the opossite side (like tac force, cold steel, etc) and you end up having to hold the knife upwards so it doesn't hurt your hand.
I wish I knew more about proper clip orientation before I got my foldable Karambits a few years back lol, their clips are on the wrong side AND upside-down 💀
I'll be getting a FOX 599 this week at least
It's more like fighting with a Velociraptor claw.
It is. First time I brought a kerambit I took one look at it and I was like "no way im using that on someone." It is deadly.
it's actually made to simulate a tigers claw so that would make sense
A Deinonychus claw fits the hand better.
@@shawn409 I think they and Raptors were the same thing, not sure though, I'm not a Paleontologist, but they are very similar, both have that huge claw, I saw one on a documentary narrated by Christopher Reeve as a kid.
@@ArijoyMitra1987 I killed someone in South Africa(Self defense btw)
I love the claw design of the karambit. My ideal karambit will have a claw like curvature (not the straighter hawkbill design) be made of carbon steel or spring steel and be a fixed blade karambit 😎👍
This is much better than the other karambit video you have. You actually learned how to use it. The extension is for hooking limbs and joints at a slightly further range to bring in a cut.
I’ve known how to use a Karambit. Trained in Silat for a number of years. I just like throwing people curveballs every now and then. It’s UA-cam, know what I mean? 😉
I have quite a few Karambit knives, dont know all the different types though. My favorite one is the one I got from funker tactical. It has a multi tool set and a catch so that it automatically deploys when you pull it out of your pocket.
CRKT Provoke. I carry a knife on most occasions as a last measure for defense. But I always thought it would be a high risk to deploy it and then switch to reverse grip for effective combat. At that level of adrenaline, it would be very likely to fail. Fumble, or maybe cutting my own hand. The provoke is already connected to my hand/finger when pulled, it can be used as a non lethal brass knuckle, and the deployment of the blade is just a flip of the thumb without loosening the grip too much. It operates so naturally, that it is perfectly safe. Also compact and easy to carry. It doesn’t even look like a knife in closed condition. That thing is an excellent piece of kit.
Just got one if these myself! 🤙🏻
When you're beginning practicing with any knife, not just a karambit, I highly suggest wrapping some paper towels over the blade and duct taping it so it won't cut you, then once you're confident in your abilities remove it and practice with the slight weight difference :)
I'm a Karambit fan myself..love the Original Karambit too..but if I get a folding Karambit then I'm still good.
style one of the best introduction to karambit
I have the 511 folder karambit and I've had it since 2009. I also have the aluminum trainer. I made a heavier steel karambit to train with and I made a kevlar karambit to carry with me to use as a controlling tool. Love the karambit for self-defense. I had to use my karambit in Afghanistan when a Taliban dude thought he was going to jump on me from behind let's just say it didn't turn out well for him.
damn, did you kill him?
Fox 599, 1 practice knife and 1 sharp. Same feeling, very nice knives.
I have an OTF karambit, I love it, if you don’t extend the blade you have a less lethal defensive weapon and can always bring out the blade later, if you need to.
06:47 I have four different hawkbill-style knives for similar use, a small fixed CRKT Keramin, a medium sized Fox folding kerambit and a larger Cold Steel Talon 2. Depending on the training scenario, I'll practice with either one on my weak hand side. The fourth one is a Spyderco Tasman Salt for swimming in open water, in case I get entangled in plants or smth (one of the main risks for drowning in Dutch inland water).
So you are practicing with the karambit in your weak hand? Howcome? I also had a similar thought as it essentially adds some worth and defence to your weak hand which otherwise wouldn't be as effective (as it doesn't exactly take much so swipe with a blade and do damage) whereas throwing a punch with a weak side vs your strong is a big difference
Purchased my first karambit today profess Paul..fixed blade no loop at 8 inches ❤
Well, at this time I don't know what my dream Karambit will be as I am new to this style of weapon. I am 64 turning 65 in January and I have studied Shotokan from a young age under some of the notable instructors. I have not been training for a few years due to opening a business but will be back in the dojo around Febuary. My daughter got me a Smith & Wesson Karambit a long with a practice blade. I will checkout your training and get myself up to speed on it. I the video I watched of yours and I have seen a lot of Martial Arts videos. Thanks! Terry
I own a Defcon Karambit coming today in the mail, but my favorite Karambit is the We Knife Karambit. But I can say I love them equally. The third is the Cold Steel Tiger Claw.
I have 3 Karambits! I have the:
1. Cold Steel Tiger (My 1st karambit. I was flipping it, fucked up and... yeah. I literally heard my flesh tear open... and then the blood 🩸 came.)
2. Cold Steel Tiger Claw (My EDC just due to its slim design and it surprisingly big karambit blade made in the premium high end CTS-XHP steel with THEE UNMATCHABLE Tri-Ad Locking System)
3. FOX 598 (The Fixed Blade Version) This is my go to karambit WHEN I AM TRAINING. It’s not overly big and it is highly concealable and has roomy space in the comfortable micarta handle and the strong fixed blade design)
Sweet stuff I love karambit! 😁
My bro gave me his folding karambit and it's really good lowkey self defense kit.
gives me chills appreciate the off the cuff work. well done and thank you
I have 3, my favourite kind is fixed and sharp.
No fighting, just exhibition with dull.
Reviewing the basics so iI appreciate this vid.
I love this video! Karambit is such a confusing weapon not only for the enemy but for myself 😅🤣
👍🏻
Yep, I just got a Tac-Force Karambit 578 a month ago & been at it. 👍🏻🇺🇸
Karambit is my fav weapon, I own a few. Enjoy the training video.
I own an Emerson Super Karambit, a Fox 478, a CRKT Provoke and a trainer karambit that I got off of Amazon for $18 that’s identical to the Fox karambit! Thank you for the content!
I subscribed to the channel a couple years ago because the karambit content hooked me in, I bought a cheap trainer back then and over the years I’ve upgraded to a basic karambit, now I carry the bulkier and heavier D2 dragon karambit distributed by Masalong, its very heavy and a lot scarier than any karambit I’ve owned.
I’ve noticed though all the karambit videos you upload are beginner techniques, any more advanced stuff in the future for the channel?
Fox 599, fox/bastinelli black bird, bastinelli pika is what I have. Next on the list to get is a bastinelli kalinou and I would love to have a traditional wood karambit.
I have 3. A Boker Magnum, a Schrade Shasta McNasty, and a United Cutlery.
Totally cut my self on wrist flip move when I got my first karambit. Easy to play with but difficult to master. Thanks for the video as it helps clarify the weapons characteristics and grip better for novices (me 😉). Looking for the dvd link for more training now.
“Easy to play with but difficult to master.” I was referring to the weapon in general. And I have a carbon fiber karambit. Doesn’t rust making it ideal for stashing around the property as an emergency back up weapon on a bad day.
Makes sense to but a trainer Karambit as well..then practice with the trainer and when you feel proficient or near proficient then use the real karambit
Christopher Dean agreed. But that was the impetus to huge trainer. Another example of ready, fire, aim.
I have 2 otf, and have 2 hibbin claws. Perfection. Great video.
Thanks for the video. I’ve been pondering over a Karambit for the last month or so, never really having heard of them prior. I own only one which I just bought, a CRKT Provoke. I intend to carry it daily.
LoL that feeling that I seem naked without them karambits I recently bought for myself as presents. Though I should've watched videos first before trying them out. One's tip struck me on my arm. But oh well, it won't stop me from learning more about it. Thanks for this vid.
I just got my 1st one. It’s a Du Hoc by CRKT. Thanks for the video
Just bought a Civivi Incisor 2. I'm excited to get started . Trainer will be here tomorrow
Just got a blacked out fixed claw with 2.3 inch blade to comply with Chicago laws. Nice kydex sheath. Good to finally have a weapon that’s not illegal as an EDC time to get training
Excellent video Paul. Always second to none.
I have 3 fox ,Emerson, and a trainer, all brilliant 👍
I own a fixed blade Fox Knives karambit (Model #: FX-598) and a folding karambit called the "black bird" that is a collaboration between Fox Knives and Bastinelli knives.
Both are made from N690co Bohler steel. Awesome tools.
Thank you for these karambit training videos. I don't have access to any official trainers anywhere close to my residence so I can practice these with a trainer knife.
Mine is a CS:GO Karambit, but i love it because it's all black and matte, and most importantly it's easy to use and definitely very sharp! Got it for cheap off Amazon, good quality! Would recommend for beginners.
I've been telling my brother about you and Kali because he is really into close quarters weapons
Been carrying the Fox 479 for about 5-6 years now. Love it
I have an Emerson Knives Super Karambit, and came here to learn the basic moves. Ernest Emerson makes great knives and I just subscribed, I really like this instructor.
My favorite fixed karambit is the MKarambit (designed by Mike Maniord for the now defunct RedScorpion6 knives). I bought almost 10 years ago. My dream karambit would be a custom traditional karambit built for my hands, or an Emerson folding karambit.
Great video. I wish I had a trainer like this in my ares
I have a hand forged karambit made from a snap on wrench... Sounds crude but it's function is so beautiful
Just got my first karambit a Fox 479 G10. Super stoked to have it for self defense.
Wonderful knowledge, i've learn some of this moves in H.E.M.A training but karambit looks much more effective than a regular dagger
My dream Karambit is the 'Pacifist' from Bastinelli Knives ,but I love my little 'Pika' from Bastinelli too!
Another Karambit video after a while. Loving it! I actually renamed my YT because of this beautiful but yet so dangerous weapon. You forgot to mention footwork, but that should be obvious for all who watch the video/your channel. I'd like to have the Fox 599/XT but that knife is a little bit expensive for me. I still do have my Mtech665, decent blade for begginers. I remember how I had little injuries on my hand with my trainer blade, was plastic but still had a tip. Much love! Like your work.
I have a Falcon karambit trainer that I use for training and a canku tactical karambit that I personally use as a cutting tool and not for self defense situations.
Respect bro , I love it ...karambit knife techniques....
Just got my first karambits. Fox 479 g10 earth with plain washed blade. And matching 479 trainer.
And a fox 598 fixed blade. Plan on stripping the coating off the fixed blade and adding stainless pins and getting rid of the screws.
I have three Fox 599 karambit, Emerson Combat Karambit, 511 Cube, Gill hibben fix blade Karambit, (Mantis K-fu karambit is my favorite so far) Cold steel steel Tiger Karambit, Clone Bastinelli Pika Karambit, and about 6 more I can't reammber....... But I really want the same traditional Karambit you have for Shore that will be my top. 👊🏽
You have the essence of Dwight schrute. I love it.
I have a fox folding karambit, it's my favorite. Thanks for the demo.
My dream karambit is the crkt du hoc, it awesome
I have a cheap MTech karambit. I carry it every day.
My favourite karambit it's a simple one but a durable & a practical one
I picked up an Emerson super karambit and I love it. Just need to learn more stuff.
Thanks. Really enjoyed this. Could you do more karambit if possible
My fav. Karambit ist the Fox 599 Tic, and the Bastinelli Pica.
I have the rainbow cs:go karambit. Nice blade. Works how I want. Just want to get better with it.
My dream Karambit is a wooden handled one... Sadly mine has a nice blade but a pretty ugly black "tactical" handle.
I just bought the Cold Steel Tiger Claw
I just bought my first karambit, and it’s a spring assisted folder.
I've been enjoying my pair of Bastinelli Kalinou karambits.
Just ordered the cold steel tiger karambit!😎
I made my own carambit , kinda personalized and of course got to know how to use it ..
Small knife , with paracord grip for camping ,emergency rope cuts... etc..
Fox 599 folder. It’s amazing.
Had no experience with the karambit, so I did not want to spend too much. I bought a Cold Steel "Double Agent", which despite the name is single-edged. Quality seems very good for the price. I also bought a $10 hard rubber karambit trainer but wish I hadn't, because it feels way too light and I haven't ended up using it much.
I bought a CS:GO black karambit at a local store here in the Philippines, I got it a pretty good price of 500 pesos equivalent to 8 dollars today 😁.. Although I've gotten good at it, I stills train with it sheathed 😅 but it's really fun
I made my training karambit out of popsicles ( turned out surprisingly good and pretty, except for the weight ofc.) One day i want some real, metal karambit with nice aestehetic and dark blade, but I also want the exact copy of the karambits used in Lucifer by Mazikeen. Those are the best looking ones I ever saw.
I have a Boker M Magnum ( 3 finger Karambit neck knife) and a Honshu full size Karambit, im getting pretty good with both of them!
I got my karambit from boker knives it's the Magnum Spiked Karambit (fixed blade). It's a bit of a bigger blade but I really enjoy it and it's a bit harder to mess up a fixed blade.
I own a karambit. Its a cold steel f92 skorpion, it's very durable, powerful and flexible for the price that you pay
Fox 599, cold steel tiger claw fully serrated and tops knives tac top are my favorites and most deadly
The Reate EXO K. 😍 its a folder that opens with the reverse flip motion
just picked up the smith and wesson extreme ops folding karambit
Nice! 👍🏼
You move well with that. Footwork is great. Are you an awesome dancer too?
Good video on the basics. In my opinion, a karambit is the only true fighting/ defense blade. I daily carry a Masalong Unicorn.
I have 2 fade karambits. Got stuck in my hand 5 times on the first day. But he'll I love them. They are sharp, they look good, they aren't too costly making them easily replaces if broken.
my favorite karabit is fox b63 its really cool knife
Fell in live with karambits ever since I played splinter cell blacklist and my dream is the one used by sam fisher
Yesss that's why I desperately wanted one too, it arrives tomorrow😁😁
Saw one down the shore a bit ago double edged. With a gut hook and a bonus little spike on the ring. I'd have to say less a dream karambit for me and more a dream set up would automatically flip the blade (folder) from drawing.
I don't own a karambit but I've actually been doing a lot of blacksmithing lately researching and experimenting trying to find the perfect blade for me
Fox with Emerson wave is my favorite
Just got the WE 816 Incisor. Lightning quick deployment. Solid frame lock. Love the SV35N steel.
my dream karambit is a double blades 8inches long and has a sharp spike at a ring you can used it like a boomerang or a trowing knife
Are you a great teacher who is able to teach others to use karambit techniques?
I have a tac force karambit and its pretty huge. I flip it everyday and night
A huge karambit? What kinda blade length you speaking about?
My dream karambit is the CRKT Du Hok
I have the Schrade Shasta double edge Karambit. I love the larger size and double edge design. It's price is incredible, I like the Schrade better than some more expensive ones I own, and have handled. Plus it will take a hair shaving sharp edge.
I have an MTech Extreme folding karambit with the exaggerated curve, and a handforged damascus steel traditional karambit with horn handle and brass pins by an independent smith.
Nagash Unbroken question: do you fear the folder failing in actual use vs fixed blades or is that not on the table for discussion?
@@saint2279 There's always a risk that a folder can fail on opening, fail on impact, or fail to remain locked. That's the price you pay for the portability. The only thing you can do is to get one of good build quality and keep it well maintained.
UNDOUBTLY the Fox Karambit originated in Indonesia created on a tigers claw. Mine is made in Italy, best weapon for a woman, i wear mine on a weak chain around my neck so when i need it i can just pull it into the grip flick it open and its ready to go. I advise most women to learn to keep your heart rate below 180, that will stop you from freezing with fear.
Good safety guide. Good teaching
In my country Indonesia that Karambit is the most deadly knives, it is usually used for self depend from enemy in colonial era.
