Thank you so much for requesting this awesome fight scene. We cannot wait until Extraction 2 on Netflix. What other fight scene would you like to see us breakdown next?
Could you analyze a fight of a character from the DC universe?
Suggestions: batman vs robin, batman vs talon, frank moses vs william or Han Cho Bai (Red movie)...
I'm a big fan of scenic fights!! I would like to request a breakdown on this scene. It's from a movie called "The master" which is praised by movie critics because of it's fight scenes. It contains all kinds of Chinese weapons in this fight. I really want to know how practical this fight is and how experts see it. Thanks a lot!! Really appreciate your great work!!
ua-cam.com/video/jzf9TKldUjc/v-deo.html
Maybe some Daredevil fight scene season 1 in the rain or season 2 hallway fights.
Would love to see your guys take on the prison cell block fight with the punisher from DareDevil season 2
You should up the cheese level and go for a Jean-Claude Van Damme knife fight like Cyborg or Timecop
The best actor is the guys on the scooter and the one in the car. They did perfect in the fight scene.
Their moves make perfect sense and didn't make a single mistake.
Dudes ... you guys need to hook up with Corridor Crew to develop a rad fight scene to be filmed and edited for a sick one-on-one battle. I see their latest light saber duel video and can just imagine what you guys could bring to a fight from a choreography stand point. Great stuff.
We would love to collaborate one day with Corridor Crew!
Yessssss
Hell yeah!
Genius idea 🤘🤘🤘
Except it'll still be choreographed and they themselves have to decide who has to do something improperly for the other person to get out or flip the situation.
Demonstrated in the first block where Logan showed what he would've done to finish Chad and in reverse what Chad would do to stop it from happening or maybe to even finish Logan. In real life hectic fight it's a toss of coin who makes it, maybe Chad was simply faster for .5sec and Logan lost his opportunity and his arm is now trapped or even thrown to the ground arm broken. Or if Logan was slightly faster Chad is stabbed 3 times before he can grab or he grabbed and missed.
So to film a cool yet authentic fight while giving both fighters their respect it'll have to be a series of moves where both fighters did the absolute best they could but one still comes on top simply because of the situation. It could be Chad say he'll do Z and Logan admit yeah in that case I can't get out of it. So instead of Z, I will have to do X instead. Then Chad will be yeah I won't be able to defend against that. Etc.
What Logan demonstrates with the help of Chad is a solemn reminder why you should always avoid a fight if possible. Knives can be deployed super quick and you often will not know someone is carrying. They should be treated with the utmost respect. Thanks for the breakdown guys!
We agree wholeheartedly. As we mention in our The Hunted breakdown (ua-cam.com/video/UxfkSrOq1BY/v-deo.html) run if you can from a knife fight.
As Doug Marcaida would say: "Blades are made to be felt, not seen."
I accidentally cut myself with a cooking knife once and it bled and hurt like a b*tch, if I imagine getting my guts slashed...naaah imma make gap, I would even argue it's easier to disarm handguns than knifes
most knife fight scenes between trained or otherwise military or fighting men do not have enough injuries to both parties. the hunted was great in that it showed high level training with the appropriate amount of injuries to both parties. hollywood usually takes the john wick approach and show one party being vastly superior to their opponents, but the flaw is that the fight last too long. if they're skilled enough to receive zero or minimal damage, then the opponent must be vastly underskilled. the fight would be a very fast technical victory
@@cagneybillingsley2165 that's what I'm saying, if my opponent pulls out a knife I'm a goner, I have plenty of experience in combat sports as well as street fighting and when I see a knife I'm outta there
What makes this scene so cool is that both Rake and Saju are tired and injured from the previous chase/shootout section of the movie. They’re most likely not able to perform complex weapon techniques due to this and are probably acting on instinct and hopped up on adrenaline.
Great breakdown as always, guys!
To be more precise, they both just fell off a roof. They shouldn't even be walking. I feel that context would've upped the grade.
Chad looks so terrified that his buddy Logan can be this cold and ruthless with a knife. He looks so disturbed with the throat cut 😂 This is a great breakdown though, please do more 😍
There's little control on the knife in his first grappling response
Exactly
@@rkidlat I was thinking that. I just started training FMA and I'm like, he can just turn the knife and start poking? 😂
I mean the intro shows it
6:07 Lmao I’m now 100% certain that a big reason for their friendship to be so solid is the fear Chad must have of what Logan could do to him if he ever made him angry
Chad knows Logan is not to be messed with when he is armed lol.
@@ScenicFights And that’s the trick… he is always armed
The only thing I could think to add is think about their respective backgrounds, military...not martial arts. To the military as a whole ( some select individuals excluded ) the knife is the back up of the back up. What I mean by that is we are trained for rifle first, pistol second and knife is an extra curricular after thought self tought in your own time maybe with a trainer once or twice a week. So for both of them to primarily not use the knife as a dominant tool makes since in my mind based on that.
Very fair point!
Haven't seen the movie myself, but based on the clip Rake looks exhausted. Hard to make prime decisions when you are fatigued and fighting for your life
@@MrSoggyjocks that’s when training comes in. Under fatigue or high stress situations your body will revert to what is knows best. Hence why military, especially those highly active units train with such high intensity for extended periods of time. It’s about conditioning the mind and body to pretty much auto pilot when logical thinking goes out the window.
@@MrSoggyjocks Exactly and very rarely is fighting perfect unless its an amateur against and expert.
@@coreygolder6503 Before covid happened, my platoon would regularly go to a facility on post for combative training. The instructor would put us through high intensity training non stop in our OCPs for a good 45 minutes to an hour (depending if our platoon sergeant was feeling 'extra' that morning. And only after everyone was sweating a lake through our uniform and tired af, is when we would start practicing actual combative techniques. As you said, we essentially relied on auto pilot when that would happen.
Knife wasn't entirely Rake 's thing, a giant hammer would have been better
lmao. You might be entirely correct!
@@ScenicFights at 2min15sec you would've had a knife deep in your back...be careful teaching ppl who know nothing of how dangerous weapons can be, ppl will think this kind of stuff works and they will get stabbed
@@ramichahin2 But he wouldn't be able to move his arm since his shoulder is being pressured.
@@omarabe26 you can still move your elbow and wrist even if your shoulder is “pressured” you guys are obviously beginners at true martial arts for combat. It’s a horrible technique only good to get stabbed, never try this kind of stuff it’ll never work and it’ll get you killed. Pressure on the shoulder would never be enough to stop an angry guy from slipping the knife right in your back, your “techniques” are only good in the movies
@@ramichahin2 I never said I wanted to attempt that, an even then Logan and Chad's advice is to run. You're also assuming they're doing that as slow or careful as possible and not levereging the shoulder to bring an assailant to the ground, which they've demonstrated in their breakdown of The Hunted. I know you want to sound like a secret expert and want to prevent people from doing dangerous stuff, but Scenic Fights already has that in mind.
I like this fight because to me, this is how trained people might actually react after getting bombed. They are both already injured, partly concussed and badly disoriented. They are suddenly thrown into a fight for survival. You see flashes of top-notch training, like weapons deployment, mixed in with a bunch of flailing. That seems real.
Yeah it’s a super entertaining fight scene.
100% so. Having been there done that, your muscle memory takes over certain things like weapon handling, but totally fumbles other things, like mag changes or super fire motor skills like trying to operate your radio
And people don't respond to pain in the same way that they theoretically should when they're in shock, concussed, in a heavy adrenaline flow, and fighting for their lives.
All combat, whether sporting, simulated, lethal, planned, military, or self-defense, is flailing. Whether it's wild, disorganized flailing or vicious, purposeful flailing is up to the combatant's instincts, training, and skill.
@@allengordon6929 what about a sniper?
The movie that needs a really needs a big breakdown is A Grande Art/Exposure, it has different names depending on its release but it has 4 scenes that I think would make a great longer breakdown. The first and last knife fights, the scene where they buy the knives, and the knife training scene. Would be a great way for Logan to talk about how to train to use a knife and how to pick a knife.
oh yea, it's that movie where a guy travels to like south-America to learn knife fighting from some kind of knife fighting art master. There's strong elements of FMA in the training scene where the guy is learning the angles of attack in front of a mirror and such
Yeah, a breakdown on a training would be awesome.
I saw this film yrs ago, it's awesome please check it out, different names well worth finding it, stay sharp!🔪
i remember this quote from the movie "I have a high art, I hurt with cruelty those who would damage me."- Archilocus, 650 B.C.? 😁
I havent seen that movie in years.. decades really.
The only thing I would say is that in the wall pin, both fighters are beat to hell and not thinking clearly/exhausted.
It's so interesting how most of these scenes are "stiffer" than what would happen in real life
stiff movements are easier to read in action
@@RhysClark97
Same philosophy in video games with “key frames”
I read somewhere that the people behind this film made it just for the heck of it, no universe building, no saving the world, no agenda of some sort, just a straight up action flick, and I gotta say I love them for that. It may not be perfect or realistic, but it's a great-turn-off-your-brain-and-just-enjoy-it film, and during these trying times that's all you could ask for.
Chad's face at 6:13 is just hilarious, you could see on his face that he's starting to miss grappling breakdowns lol. And I gotta ask, are Chad and Logan friends irl ??? Cause their chemistry is just amazing, turns your videos from S Tier to God Tier.
Glad you guys are back sooner, and thanks for the amazing content, see you guys in the next one !!!
Thanks for the comment! Extraction is an amazing action film! And yes, Chad and Logan are real life friends. They speak about their friendship briefly in our Megalo Box breakdown: ua-cam.com/video/Kd2Al-5uMfc/v-deo.html
@@ScenicFights ah yeah this is great to know, guess I'll rewatch that video too then
and it still turned out better than 99% of the movies comin out.
This was such an exciting rollercoaster through the fight scene breakdown and I want to share my opinions.
The first one is knife fighting. People don't understand what are the differences between a knife attack and a knife duel. Two scenarios could happen in a knife attack. One is an attacker pulls a surprise attack to kill the victim instantly. The second is the confrontation between the attacker and the victim. Usually, the attacker is armed with a knife and the victim is unarmed. Now what if the victim is armed with a weapon, then the fight will become a weapon duel. In the knife duel, however, the victim is now armed with a knife or edged weapons.
The second one is more of my personal opinion about the characters. Both of the two characters wear heavy body armor and guns, and they clearly sustained heavy damage from the fall. So it is safe to say that they weren't that conscious in their first confrontation, (not so sure about Rake because he is the Thor in the alternative universe).
The third and also the last one is the fight scene itself. Most of the knife attacks that I have seen in the movies are pretty much choreographed. The characters unleash a bunch of wild, unprofessional-looking strikes, although Rake and Saju are lethally trained soldiers.
Well, that's it, for whoever reads my comment, stay strong, stay safe, and have a beautiful day.
Thanks James for the awesome comment! Much appreciated.
I appreciated the fact that Hemsworth used a karambit in this movie. I've been using karambit in actual combat since 2006, when I got shredded by one breaching a door in Baghdad. Dude tore my left arm from bicep to wrist, and I have the (very cool looking, apparently) scar to prove it. After that experience, I kept that karambit, started researching where it came from, and when I had the chance, I started learning Kali and Silat almost exclusively for about 5 years, 6 days a week, at least 3 hours intensive work (I was active duty infantry, so I had the time to do this on my own... I've also been training in multiple martial arts since childhood, including muay thai, wing chin, BJJ, boxing, and kyokushin). I use the karambit almost exclusively when doing CQC offensive work, and it does the job frighteningly well. I always get a good laugh when I see videos on UA-cam about how the karambit is "not a good weapon", because they're almost always made by people with no experience in practical application. It is absurdly easy to eviscerate a human body when you're in the middle of the shit, and the body responds almost immediately, if done correctly. A lot of people don't seem to understand how incredibly fragile the human body is compared to steel... there's a reason why the blade, as ancient a weapon as it is, is still used in combat. I'll take a good blade over a gun any day... the firearm will run out of ammo, it can jam, it can break. That blade will continue to cut and separate flesh from bone until you can't raise your hand anymore.
(1) Totally true, (2) I threw up a little in my mouth.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment and the support!
This is epic lads🙌🏽🙏🏽 there was some bits I completely missed with this film until you broke it down!
Omg 6:43 the concern in his face 😂
I'll never get tired of these 2, always a good time whenever a new video pops up. Also Chad's face at 6:14

@@ScenicFights and then Logan doubles it down with "you sure you don't wanna do the car thing?"
Awesome! I've seen a lot of people request this one. It's awesome that you guys take your fans' input so seriously. Can we get a Daredevil or Punisher breakdown?!

Like everyone else, I can't wait for you two to tackle the bus fight from Nobody (2021).
Alright, I found this channel by accident while looking for Attack on Titan content. I am a weeb, female dancer... How did I end up watching every single breakdown? I know nothing about fighting with or without a weapon but am now thoroughly intrigued :D
Hats off to you guys and the crew! The series is really interesting and frankly informative for people who have no knowledge of any kind of combat or defensive training but still have some type of physical education. This channel deserves much more appreciation.
Glad you accidentally found us and were able to enjoy our breakdown videos! We do our very best to make these videos fun for all audiences! BTW, Dancing can make a great base for martial arts because of the footwork, so I highly recommend looking into martial arts schools around your area if you're interested in self-defense. With that being said, we are weebs at heart too so if there are any other anime fight scenes you'd like to see us breakdown, don't forget to let us know and subscribe!
@@ScenicFights Already subscribed after The Winter Soldier breakdown. No need to hook me in further, guys.
As for a fight scene suggestion. Anything from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, preferably Scar vs. King Bradly, as there are less 'super powers' involved. Or perhaps Greed vs. Bradley. Great fights, not sure how much of them would be applicable in real life combat though.
Because youre a smart intelligent weeb, female dancer who knows the reality of someday being a victim. Now you know some moves that can offer protection. Keep watching! Youre on your way to also being a Female Warrior Woman!
After five minutes of seeing multiple hands and arms, I am so cross-eyed that I have decided to leave the knifes to the experts and hold onto my popcorn😁
We just want you to have a good time! We'll bring more popcorn.
Thank you for pulling up Extraction, a banger of a movie
Thank you for the engagement as always Isaac! Extraction was a fantastic movie! We're so happy it got a sequel.
This is what I've been waiting for.
Have you guys seen Re:Born? The main guy has a forest fight versus many goons with guns and knives. The gun stuff is unrealistic but he is basically a superhuman soldier, so its fine. But he uses knives, dual kamas, a tactical shovel and ends the scene with a huge karambit.
When he uses the bladed weapons, he does lots of what you said, and actually uses the weapon, quickly slashing and stabbing the right areas. During the karambit finale, he literally does the armpit stab to throat slash you mentioned in this video!
The fight between Iko Uwais and Very Tri Yulisman from Headshot was awesome, would love to see that break down! You guys are awesome!!!
You guys gotta do one of the many daredevil fights scenes, they are top tier
That intro😂🙌🏼,chad said "👀"
You guys should check out the fight scenes in the Japanese movie Re:Born with Tak Sakaguchi. He learned Zero Range Combat for that movie.
Finally, someone recommends this fantastic movie. Would like to see Logan demonstrates his skills with the Cresent Blade Shining.
damn good taste bud!!!!!!
You guys, I appreciate the work you do. You bring the fun and the understanding at the same time. Good eye and knowledge. You picked up a lot of things I didn't. And also taught me a way to think differently when approaching a knife fight. I will keep on following your work and encourage others to check you out as well. Thanks for the show.
Much appreciate Jaco! If there are any other knife fight scenes you'd like to see us breakdown, please let us know!
I like how Chad checks his neck to make sure he's not bleeding to death
Karambit skills make you a deadly machine. Twin karambit skills make you an unstoppable machine. Don't believe it, come see me.
There's a cool fight in season 4 of the show Banshee, where they actually take the "my knife is out in my car" joke to a whole new level that really works.
You should break down the jiu-jitsu fight scenes for movie "REDBELT"
Oo good call
@@shinomori69
Indeed.
Quite the overlooked film.
@@Wavemaninawe the promos and advertising did it no favors. Since it was a drama with a few good fights rather than an action movie.

Was it billed as an action/ chop socky film? Ouch! That was probably a bad advertising move.
Still, it does cater to some martial arts nerdiness, just the same.

You should break down the scene from Prince Persia When they're stealing back the dagger That entire knife fighting is really cool

It’s been a hot minute since I watched these videos. Always a banger
Where you been at!? Glad you've come back and enjoyed our breakdown. Much appreciated!
I love the division between "a fight with weapons" and "a weapons fight." It was a wild brawl that just happened to use knives. It reminded me a little bit of your Jason Bourne video and how you two speculated on the things a boxer could do with a punch dagger when he's not actually very well-trained in daggers and knives. I'm used to big, sloppy, showy knife swipes in movies at this point, but it still feels like a missed opportunity to show off some more advanced knife skills from two guys who are supposed to be well-trained. Oh well. At least we got another good video out of it.
Great comment! In our initial edit, we did reference Jason Bourne in our Extraction breakdown, but deleted the scene. It's awesome to read someone was able to make the comparison between our two fight scene breakdowns.

Great video. I have been waiting for someone to break down the raid 2 kitchen fight for a while. In my opinion it has to be one of the best movie fight scenes. It has its dramatic moments but overall its a great watch and is acted out by 2 practiced silat masters. The movements and counters are great and you even notice the exhaustion and desperation levels increase as the fight goes on. Please break it down it would be a great video (although i know its a long fight haha).
These breakdown are very good and very much have value but let’s not forget that fights are dynamic and it’s what you can think of doing and can actually do in that moment, that make it what it is. I doubt there is any one thing that a person can do in a highly stressed, highly aggressive situation that would not be critiqued by anyone. So let’s do keep that in mind. But still, to say this, good work guys as it is always good to assess what could be done better 👍🏽
I love the videos guys. I'm so proud to see that FMA is being spread to the world and thank you for being a part of that. Keep em coming.
However i have a gripe with the move @6:05 (Yes, i'm apparently that guy 😂)
Tuhon Ray Dionaldo taught me that this move needs to be administrated with the back of the hand/wrist when pushing the head away. If you push with the palm or the side of the hand like you did you'll have more reach and because of the alignment of the muscles you're stronger as well, but you are leaving your arteries open to be cut in the process.
Dude is coming back to life. Another break down is in order !

Btw when i see the scene before breakdown i was thinking the similar way, "is Seju' pin strong enough to hold Rake tight on the wall? It doesn't seem so" and breaking down the scene really answer my question, super awesome video!
Yay a new video... And suddenly life is good...
New comment from Der Hammer and life is good.

OOOOOH, you guys should review the fight at the end of Rob Roy. I loved that fight growing up. My favorite Timothy Roth performance.
I don't know why the opening cracked me up whe he says i slice his throat and the other guy checks if his neck is intact.😂😂😂
Brilliant again guys, so well explained. How about the final confrontation from Under Siege 2: Dark Territory?
