surprisingly, yes! after a certain point in the game, gateway colosseum opens back up and lets you swap your rental pass pokemon with the pokemon you fight there. I'm kind of surprised that cheese didn't mention it in the video.
I really thought this was gonna be about the Sunset Colosseum Rental Pokémon, partially because I'm 98% sure that Lopunny set is also available there. I just recently beat it on Level 50 Doubles(why does it max out at Rank 8?) and some of those Pokémon are awful. The Steelix in particular has made me go to the Struggle length of at least 3 Battles solely due to Steelix. And the worst part in the highest Ranks is that half of your Rental Pokémon options are Elekid, Electabuzz, Electivire, Roselia, Roserade, and a 2nd Roserade with a different set in contrast to Blaziken, Infernape, Lucario, Cresselia, and Dialga.
Gotta say, I'm loving the use of the pokemon conquest art for the pokemon. Mixed bag of a game, but dang, there's more personality in its static images of pokemon than there is in any of the 3D models in mainline games.
@@ImportedCheese I suppose, I just wish that pokemon could have multiple moves to add a bit more variety to what each does, and spice up gameplay a little. But then again it is designed to be a simple turn based strategy, and it does that well.
Celine is really good, one of the few units that just snowballs in Maddening with a Levin sword and staff access, makes her own exp and bypasses the Maddening exp reduction. High luck too which is uncommon in Engage.
While none of the new forms from Pt are in Battle Revolution (Origin Giratina, Sky Shaymin, or Appliance Rotom), you can still connect Pt, HG, or SS to the game, though only one game at a time, and some of the Pt unique content works. A Giratina holding a Griseous Orb will still give a boost to its stabs, but Rotom will be without its special move from the form it was in on the save file. Personally, aside from the mons running up to use a contact move and the announcer being overzealous about certain moves, I think Battle Revolution is a great 3d simulator. There are good things about the game. It's just too bad that the mediocre parts are floating on top of the soup for all to see and that's all that's ladled into the bowl that is the experience of going through the R1 battles. The best parts of the game require you to get down a bit deeper into the pot to find that savory goodness. The animations are actually really well done. It is a fairly early Wii game (basically a launch title in Japan), so there's only so much to expect there. While all the Gen 3 and older mons just reuse their models from the older Stadium games, those models are well made and show a lot of personality. The attack animations are very quick (aside from contact moves where they charge towards the opponent) and moves that hit multiple targets show all the opponents getting hit at once and drain their hp at the same time, though a miss and if the attacker's ally get hit, it'll show that separate. The hp bars decreasing uses a different animation depending on what type of move they were hit with and the hp drain from damage is also quick (which DaiPa players probably really loved back then). And after completing all the arenas once each, you unlock harder versions of each arena that give more BP and an actual challenge. One important thing is that the game works as a secondary Battle Tower/Frontier, letting you get competitive items on any Gen 4 cart, though only 1 of each item per save. And because the BP is locked to Battle Revolution, you can use it to get the special gift mons on multiple saves. There's an Electivire and Magmortar with decent movesets and level 50 with an Adamant and Modest nature respectively. If you don't have easy access to trading, this is an easy way to get these trade evos. And for completing all the basic arenas, you can get a special Pikachu that knows Volt Tackle and Surf and holding a Light Ball. Is it good? Not at all! It will always have a Hardy (neutral) nature and comes at level 10. Then what's it good for? New playthroughs! I'm serious, that's its best use. You can't even pass down Surf because it's an event move for it. If you don't get a Magnemite, it's probably the best electric-type you can get fairly early access to in Gen 4.
Sick of this PBR revisionism, the game is pure ass. All three of the genius sonority games were made intentionally worse to increase sales, I'll NEVER forgive them, they RUINED MY LIFE only HALF KIDDING

I honestly enjoyed Battle revolution when it came because it was my first game on the wii when it came out. Spent many weekends doing that just to craft the perfect team to beat the final super boss.

Neon Colosseum is the most notorious part of the game and I thought it was criminally unaddressed here while Courtyard Colosseum got so much consideration for the ratings. For Neon, you want stuff that’s still decent in your hands but bricks in the dumb AI’s hands, AKA not mons with big STAB that the AI can easily sweep you with, especially if you whiff the wheel and get too much of their trash. For example, I found Ivysaur really handy there in my recent playthrough, because you can click Toxic and have a merry time while the AI will like to click Cut like a dummy.
@@ImportedCheese I’m aware, that’s why I said whiff lol. It is heavily skill based, at least on your end, but you still want to prepare your team in a way where your whole run won’t be ruined if you make a mistake on the timing. It’s also RNG on what your opponent picks up so it’s not purely skill too
They're sorta high quality, the animations of most of the pokemon are from the stadium games and the GameCube games, the models are just upscaled to look slightly better than those games, it's literally the same thing people complain about in Pokemon games these days

The neon colosseum wheel is actually timing based instead of random, so you can keep your whole team if you're good enough
@@ImportedCheese I’m aware, that’s why I said whiff lol. It is heavily skill based, at least on your end, but you still want to prepare your team in a way where your whole run won’t be ruined if you make a mistake on the timing. It’s also RNG on what your opponent picks up so it’s not purely skill too
45:30 the added sounds are immaculate
Machoke had to be in Battle Stance to use Charge!
You guys think that Battle Revolution is "OVERRATED AND UNDERHATED" Without a dipa cartridge.
I certainly do
Battle revolution, aka "BUY DAIPA TO PLAY THIS GAME AND VIEW THE HIGH QUALITY ANIMATIONS!!!1111"
Well I already bought daipa! How could I not buy such GREAT games!
They're sorta high quality, the animations of most of the pokemon are from the stadium games and the GameCube games, the models are just upscaled to look slightly better than those games, it's literally the same thing people complain about in Pokemon games these days
Why doesn't this get a million views?!?! This is some high quality shit right here
1 million views someday for sure
WHAT ARE YOU
a poketuber forced to play battle rev
A POKETUBER FORCED TO PLAY BATTLE REV WHAT?!
So how did you like the game?
It's UNFINISHED!
Hey, that's not fair!
It could have been intentionally left incomplete
Nice video!
I assume it would be too hard to make a follow-up to rate the trades in the second half of the game.
The randomness in moves, stats, items and nature makes it kinda impossible but at least that gives everyone access to all non-legendary non-mithycal pokemon
The system is so horrible and tedious I didn't even mention it because I didn't want to have to explain it
@@ImportedCheese Fair enough. I loved it because I liked the trade battle facility in emerald but I do know it's heavily time consuming and unfun for many.
I remember playing this game and one of the modes splits your pokemon with the opponents.
I had to not bring my pokemon to that mode since i just buff the ai and i got nerf so much.
Just time your wheel presses bro
@@ImportedCheese i didn't really know you can time it
