I was doing it last night when you posted your video, but so far today I've done the wishing piece portion about 30 times looking for a rare spawn in the Gmax Gengar den and I'm only getting the common spawn light. I know it's a 10% chance, but none of the ones I did last night took this long.

Confirmed that it works Dec 2020, just make sure you throw in a wishing piece and not just any normal purple beam.

Actually, I encountered a Gigantamax Lapras without using the wishing piece
Keep in mind:
If you want to do the gigantamax fight on your own, you need to max out your dynamax level on the Pokémon that has super effective moves. It might take a few tries to get it on your own, because the NPC trainers will be random. (Eg.: I did this, and it took me over three tries to take gigantamax duraludon down) Wobbuffet is *_NOT_* something you should take to a Max Raid Battle.
If you want to get the gigantamax Pokémon, I strongly recommend connecting to the internet (Nintendo switch online sold separately) and invite others over.

@Antoine 123 UwU you can watch the specific Den with map and all spawns on www.serebii.net/swordshield/maxraidbattledens.shtml an no its not exclusive. What i know so far is that Gengar/Lapras are Shield exclusive an Machamp is Swort exclusive. Plus both Versions get a different Apple Dragon.

Confirming this method still works in August 2020. Took me 8 minutes to get a Gigantamax Machamp
took me 50 minutes to get a gmax gengar, 1 hour for gmax grimmsnarl, tho if you have the dlc then its easier

It's a 5% chance of being a g-max grimmsnarl IF it's a 5-star. But by the time you have all 8 badges, you can get 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star raids still. So you have about a 1 in 3 chance at a 5-star. So it's more like a 1/60 chance at g-max grimmsnarl

@@SpiffyPenguin739 I don't know the exact date for getting a 3-star, 4-star, or 5-star raid but pretty much. Most g-max pokemon have. 5% spawn rate if it's a 5-star. But some g-max have 10% instead, making it a 1/30 instead of 1/60

anyways I believe that you need to choose a specific day to find the gigantimax pokemon you want. What I mean is that we only have drednaw centiskorch butterfree corviknight ... because they are avaible for a limited period. So maybe grimmsnarl and others will arrive next month and that's why it took me nothing to catch him
Took me over 25 mins to finally pull a G-Max Machamp, so 4-6 mins isn’t necessarily how quick you are gonna hit on one, he just got lucky

I got Gigamax pokemon before having 8 gym badges. Perhaps though you're hitting the level cap of catching? I found a giga butterfree and a giga Centiskorch both before I got 8 badges, and caught em.

Twiztid Jester it won’t be in just any den in that area. You have to go to the specific den that he showed. It shouldn’t take too long when you’re at the right den. Longest it took me was like 10-15 minutes.

To people asking if it still works after X months. Yes, it does, but if you go public online and someone joins your raid, it locks the pokemon you get. which is why people add link codes and THEN do the date reset. It still works, im just going through an alcremie Gmax battle as im writing this
Important note: You DO NOT need Nintendo Online, you're set as long as you have a WiFi connection set!

How? I tried and the den just respawns and the Pokémon is gone when I did this years ago it worked just fine they can’t patch it.
Note that lapras is a shield exclusive. In sword you'll get coalossal in that den

@@anonymouscanadian9839 The only way to get g-max lapras in sword is through trading or from a raid that came from Pokemon Shield. The G-max Lapras raid will not spawn in Pokemon Sword.

This works on local communication, you DO NOT need to be connected to the actual servers for this to work and makes it very annoying for people trying to join lobbies please do it offline.
But everytime i do it the stamps reset and i get to joins others gigantamax, caught charizard because of it

I got a G-Max Charizard in about 4 attempts using this method. So when I went to Bridge Field to try getting a G-Max Hatterene I was sitting there for a good hour if not slightly less/more.
@@toxapixel3946 I have a feeling that if you actually skip over a Gmax because it isn't what you want (Ability, Shiny whatever)... you need to start over. Just started this. Rolled a non-HA Hatterene in the first few tries, skipped it over and haven't seen another in 4 month cycles, about 120 attempts..... I think I'll just catch something and throw in a new piece. Can someone confirm that they actually skipped over a Gmax and got another within the same Wishing Piece?
Bro omg thank you so much doing this method (kinda) I was able to get my own tempo rockruff. The only difference was I had to catch the ruckruff every time but honestly only took 2 of then and I got the own tempo one
So I was casually doing this to hunt a gmax Machamp but I decided to go for Lucario And 3 turns later I got my gmax Machamp :D 😂

I was farming dynamax pokemons for exp, and then I accidentally found a g-max duraludon while it's a RED BEAM

So as of Aug 2022 this still works. From my experience you can get any gmax raid before 8 badges as long as the pokemon is available in that level of raid out side of gmax (like orbeetle or Butterfree). Idk if this is an absolute that you can't get (gmax raids) them until prior to beating the 8 gyms. I got all the gmax pokemon from the starting wild area dens up too haterne, who I struggled greatly with( spent 2 full days spoofing my purple beam with no gmax) than I decided to finish the game (had best all 8 gyms, just needed eternius and Leon battle) and shortly after found hantrene with in 10 min. So I think beating the game helps increase the chance or makes it so you have access to them
Still works in September of 2021. Took me 4 hours of constant resets for a Lapras.
Did this method: 3 hours later and almost 400 raids later a g-max grimsnarl

Yes, you have to click invite others first, then you skip one day and quit, then the pokemon will be reset
