Hi from Australia :) Just caught up with this video, as I need to change the battery on my B1 (same as the one on the right in your video). Mine also has the little UTC separate watch forming part of the watchband and I need to do that one too. The case opener die has to be 15-sided and 36.07mm exactly. That's why the generic 36mm ones don't work. I'm going to try the rubber ball trick, as I already have a couple of those. I regularly change watch batteries for my collection and the extended family! But the proper case opener die is hard to find now. For those interested, it's a Breitling Case Opener, CO-BR15-3607 (which translates to the 15 sided 36.07mm size). Also just one nit pick - you adjusted the time on the first B1 you did, but to 5 minutes behind the digital time. You set the hands to 14:22 when the digital time was 14:27. Surprised nobody else picked that - must be my OCD kicking in :) Thanks for the video - very appropriate for me right now :)
@@CasualWatchReviews Really interesting timing, I ended up buying a black faced B1 for £750, wasn't working, suspected dead battery. The screens are blank and the hands are still. To “wake” the watch up again, I have to push the crown back in again, at which point, the watch returns to its normal operating mode and seems to reset itself to the correct time. Keep in mind that this may harm your watch's movement if it sits for a long time without running, as the gears will not be lubricated.

Hello, May I know the exact dimensions of the back gasket you ordered, please ? Mine is cut off and needs to be replaced ... BTW, to open the watch I use a silicon ball, it is inexpensive and there is no risk of scratches. Also, there is an EOL indicator on this watch, the display blinking means you need to replace the battery within 2 weeks. As for the replacement, the battery needs to be lifted slowly otherwise you may lose the small (but crucial !) spring under the battery ! A proper replacement is to put the watch into power saving mode, then, once the old battery is removed, you have 15 seconds to put in a new battery. All the parameters (hours, alarm, calendar, ...) are thus kept in memory.
Hi I tried the silicone ball, or only worked on one of them. I'm still in the trial and error phase of the gaskets. I ordered a few different ones but not had chance to test them all out yet.
@@CasualWatchReviews OK. I thought you had the good reference according to Breitling documents. I bought a 35.5x0.7 O-ring for my beloved B-1 but I have to find a watchmaker to have a waterproof test...
Hi! Hopefully, you still watch for questions. I've had many B-1's over the years. I guess, I sold them prior to battery changes. I just bought one off eBay with a UTC. It was from a big dealer and I think it was tacky not listing the watch and UTC need batteries. I live in the country and I'm a rather old DAV. I knew the B-1 is the most difficult Breitling to change batteries on but I bought it. I only have automatic and manual Breitling's and I thought the price was right. I was wondering about the EOL. The watch came with all it's documentation and boxes but the EOL explanation was vague. The digital display is flashing. Is that indicative of the EOL and a drained battery? There are no Breitling dealers in the state I live in and will be stuck with shipping it off. I hate buying other peoples problems. In 23 years on eBay and over 1000 positives and no negatives, I would never ship a dead watch or a dirty one. This appears to be both. So from your experience, does the digital LCD flash to show the EOL. The backlight isn't working either. Sorry, this is too wordy!

I’ve been enjoying the podcasts, and was curious to see the Breitlings. Interesting. I hope that was first take, and no accidents. I can see where the helicopter would have been on the face. If only........:(
I actually had an X-33 at one time! The LCD is different configuration but I guess it could be. That would be worth some research, they both would likely be made by ETA.
"For entertainment purposes only" When I heard that a conversation with my sweetheart came to my mind. Was something like this: - What are you seeing? - - A video about watches- -And that amuses you? - - yeah, why?- -Okayyyyyyy!-
Hey Oscar! Yep I was not convinced at all I was not going to mess it up! I was imagining the angry emails about someone messing up their breitling because they followed one of my armature attempts! I guess its low on the actual ‘entertainment’ value...
@@CasualWatchReviews Well, it entertained me a lot, and it was also educational. But it is good that you specify that there is a risk when doing that at home, so nobody can say "I did not know that there was a risk!"
I believe when one does a full service on the watch, tyne whole watch is dismantled And cleaned and serviced and cleaned, so it's worth doing full servicing.
The problem is that services for these quartz watches are actually very expensive. They are modules also so it’s not like a mechanical where you can take it all apart and clean it and put it back together, if something wrong with the electronics, it’s really wrong. You're just describing a normal watch service not one for a specialist watch like this.
@CasualWatchReviews actually your wrong, I have a brietling and I went on thier site and looked up serving for the areospace and the basic service which the change battery, change all gaskets, check the performance of the watch and change battery, clean and polish whole watch is only $220 which is done every 2 years, which is not bad at all! They also suggest a full overhaul every 6 years which is $600 which is also important! The watch is not just a normal watch, it's movement does have jewels, I believe 7 each and the watch is a super quartz able to keep time plus or negative 20 seconds a year! It's chrono certified! There is no comparing to a normal quartz, also during the full service the watch is totally dismantled movement and all and serviced, the quartz movement re adjusted if needed. Frustrating when you have watch enthusiasts buy high quality watches and complain about servicing, it equates to about 100$ a year of ownership to properly maintain a watch, please do some research by making comments such as yours.
Thats not what your original comment said at all. The first, where you didn’t just copy and paste something you read online. You would rather pay $220 to replace the battery and gaskets when I did it for less than $100. Once you have that tool, the battery changes after would be around $10. If when they service these watches and they find the module is broken, I can assure you it’s far more than $660. You only have to do the bare minimum amount of web research to check if I’m right. They don’t fully dismantle the modules at all. You're describing a mechanical watch there. If there is an issue they swap the whole thing out.
Hey! Glad it worked. I may have cut it out the upload but I tried the rubber call and it only worked on one, plus i would be extremely worried about the integraty integrity using that method personally.
I have a BREITLING Aerospace I bought for $11 but the hands only move backwards no matter which way you wind. BREITLING wants over $1,000 to fix. I’m willing to pay or work something out if you want to buy it.
Looks very straightforward to change the batteries out, just as long as you have the fancy tool to unscrew the back of them. I have always liked the B1 watches. But what put me off them was the extra expense of send them off for a battery replacement. But it looks like anyone with half a brain could carry out by themselves quite easily. But I would say you do need to purchase the tool for unscrewing the backs of them first of all.
It’s expensive if you typically buy tools and then used them once and throw them away. If you keep the tool, it will cost you 2 quid for a battery every couple of years.

Hey SK, where are you based. Can you email me at the channels email
@@CasualWatchReviews Yes, I'll do that shortly. I'm a good find on watches. I have a lot a lot of them 4 sure, especially Breitling's. Thanks, again!
Very cool - Thank you Sam 😊👍
Thanks Jeffrey!
I’ve been enjoying the podcasts, and was curious to see the Breitlings. Interesting. I hope that was first take, and no accidents. I can see where the helicopter would have been on the face. If only........:(
I know, and with there only being 28 of these I'm not sure I could get a hold of another dial.
Nicely done Sam
Yep, I tried to release two uploads at the same time as this one may be a little boring for people who don't own this watch!
The Casual Watch Reviewer it was a complement mate. I don’t own the watch but enjoyed the vid
Oh appreciate it, glad you enjoyed it. I was more self conscious about it being boring I think!
Is it just me or does this movement look similar to the Omega 1666 found In the x-33?
I actually had an X-33 at one time! The LCD is different configuration but I guess it could be. That would be worth some research, they both would likely be made by ETA.
"For entertainment purposes only"
When I heard that a conversation with my sweetheart came to my mind. Was something like this:
- What are you seeing? -
- A video about watches-
-And that amuses you? -
- yeah, why?-
-Okayyyyyyy!-
@@CasualWatchReviews I watched the video and the chance of me opening a case back is 0%.
@@japd7897 yep if you are at all concerned take it to a professional... thanks for watching!
Do you still have that 28sqn b-1
No I don’t actually, but I did love the one I had!
@@CasualWatchReviews That whole changing the battery "thing" is the exact reason I will never buy another Breitling.
The link for the Tool does not work 😔
Hi Rune, yep sorry I think they sold out! I can't find one to update the link. If you find one please let me know!
Thanks! Used the $5 rubber balls they sell on eBay and it opened the case back super easy! Don’t buy the die and all 😂
Hey! Glad it worked. I may have cut it out the upload but I tried the rubber call and it only worked on one, plus i would be extremely worried about the integraty integrity using that method personally.
I like these vids...great fun...
Thanks!
I have a BREITLING Aerospace I bought for $11 but the hands only move backwards no matter which way you wind. BREITLING wants over $1,000 to fix. I’m willing to pay or work something out if you want to buy it.
Yep this sounds 100% legit 😂
@@CasualWatchReviews lol
Looks very straightforward to change the batteries out, just as long as you have the fancy tool to unscrew the back of them. I have always liked the B1 watches. But what put me off them was the extra expense of send them off for a battery replacement. But it looks like anyone with half a brain could carry out by themselves quite easily. But I would say you do need to purchase the tool for unscrewing the backs of them first of all.
Yep totally agree, I tried the ‘rubber ball’ method and it only worked on one of them
swiston 9121g price
I don't understand?
nice one cheers
Thanks Craig!
💎
Thanks for watching!
I can't listen to this dude! Brutal!
Which dude?
He does a great job and his podcast is great.
You will never sell the Breitling now because you invested in the tool.
Maybe one of them may find a new home 😂 You know what I'm like!
so in fact this is far more expensive than sending it back to Breathing. you could get a job in the Labour government running the treasury🤣
It’s expensive if you typically buy tools and then used them once and throw them away. If you keep the tool, it will cost you 2 quid for a battery every couple of years.
The link to the Case Back Opener (Die Part) now goes somewhere else but Amazon do have what appear to be the Breitling specialist tools but there are 2 sizes available and 36mm and a 38mm - which did you use for the B1?
yes its still there but unavailable, sorry about that. its a very specific one amzn.to/3jF0qdk
