Character Development with Scott Flanders
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 чер 2021
- Last time Scott Flanders went through his ideation process and brainstormed a bunch of potential ideas based on pop-culture archetypes that he wanted to build off of for his army of pumpkin-headed Harvestmen. This time, he’s taking one of those designs and zeroing in on it to start solidifying the details! He spends some time with each member to make sure he nails down the shape language and the specifics, starting with his etin-like bruiser, the Harvest Hulk. He's in his element hunched over the table drawing monsters. Respect.
You can definitely hear the joy: "I'm gonna make this one a Cyclops!"
Really cool to see his pencil process first. I’ll definitely be utilizing that.
I really connected with him talking about traditionally drawing the elements before using digital and that pencil and paper feels more natural is exactly how I feel! Tablets came out when I was in college and it never felt as natural than a pen and paper.
I'm sorry i know this man is trying to teach us but can i just say-
his personality is adorable😭🙏 💜
Very guapo~💛
I love character development ☺️
great video! very informative and I love analyzing this prosses. its just what I needed to see, thanks a lot!
Scott's method helps a lot to visualize what you want to create, highly recommend his contents.
He made such a nice point!! I find it so stressful to come up with nice ideas when working directly on digital… ive been trying to do so because watching all this masters and professionals in the industry doing it all with digital feels almost like a rule!? Dont know if im explaining correctly, but watching him talking about his process of ideation by traditional techniques is just such a relief… i feel its just ok, there are no rules after all in art! So thank u! This video is a reminder that all creative methods are valid if they suit u right? Hahah
Hi. I have been watching your videos for about 2 months now they are really motivating and thank you for sharing them. About one year ago I decided to be a concept artist but now I’m a bit stuck with my ideas and don’t really know how to make them to a portfolio. I have a few projects going but I really feeling that I started to draw in PS and I run into something technical difficulties and I start over with another blank screen… but your videos getting me better
Heck yeah, this is so cool
Okay this guy is awesome 😎 I love his muted enthusiasm 😀
Awesome video, thank you!) I will make an outline for this as I usually do)) If you may, please, consider to call Paul Robertson, so he could show how he makes his pixel art animation. If he will agree, of course, and if you will be up for it. Nevertheless, thank you for all your work)
I love how he's left handed, because I am too!!
I would love to be a concept artist, thanks for this!
what one person would have the audacity to dislike this video, I love this guy
Today I learned that The Mobile Phone Throwing World Championships are held in Finland, and one winner said he prepared for the event by "mainly drinking." what a guy.
Lol what a waste of cell phones
'It's good for video games because you need DLC.'

I'm tired of seeing artist presenting half ass work. Show us some real art and not sketches cause this is just a waste of time. Straight up! I can scribble too lmao
thats ungrateful and small minded. this is about character design. the art is in designing and fleshing out an idea. its not "half ass(ed) work", its sketching out designs, thumbnailing ideas, and trying to find the right one. designing and sketching takes craft too. what tf even is "real art"? true artists know art is subjective, that anything can be an art. you know, people spend time and dedication to make videos like this to educate you, and all youre doing is spitting it back and failing to see the value of it. dont disrespect what you don't understand. if you dont like it, cant take the complexity of character design, and cant take the diversifying of proko's content, just leave. very unstellar of you
