      Thank you! All of the major motors are right around the same gas mileage. I don’t have an exact MPG for my Merc but I’d say it’s around 2-2.5

    I have the same motor in 225. Its a beast and I love it. What pitch prop you running on it? I have a 21ft Mako Bay Boat that this motor is on (motor is 2020 model) and a 17P stainless Mercury Tempest Prop. I can only get about 48 mph. Comes out of a hole quick. Im new to owning a boat so I am wondering if the propeller is not the best for this boat to get top speed, or if that is just the difference between bay boats and bass boats. I know bass boats are designed for speed for sure.

    • @MichaelKnappFishing
      @MichaelKnappFishing  3 роки тому +1

      I’m running a 23 Fury. I’m not really sure on stats of bass boats vs bay boats. I know a bay boat is going to weigh more than my Falcon does. I would say that’s a question for Mercury lol

    • @turboss08
      @turboss08 3 роки тому +2

      You need WAY more prop. I'm running a 200 Pro XS with a 24 Fury 3 and am getting 70.1 on GPS at 5950 RPM. You should easily be able to run a 23-25P prop. Give Mercury a call and they can point you in the right direction.

    With hydraulic steering, you do not have torque steer and you can take your hands off a speed

    • @MichaelKnappFishing

      All depends on how bad your boat chine walks. Some boats chine pretty bad and you can’t take your hands off even with hydraulic steering

    I just purchased a Mercury 200 Pro XS 😊. I’m happy but I’m also a bit worried about some reliability issues that I have been hearing about. Such as fuel pump, starting, and paint flaking off on the lower unit. How is your experience so far and have you heard of many having issues? Mine is a 2020 model.

    • @MichaelKnappFishing
      @MichaelKnappFishing  2 роки тому

      So far I am not having any of those issues besides the paint flaking off my lower unit but that’s from me hitting crap in the water lol mine is a 2021 so I’m not sure if they took care of those or not in the next years model. The only major issue I had was the trim sending unit bolt fell out. It wouldn’t allow my motor to come up but it was a very quick and easy fix for my marina.

      @@MichaelKnappFishing thank you for your quick answer. Please give me advice , I like to get a Zodiac Medline 7,5 and the 300 Mercury pro xs. I do not know what the dealer will put on the stock engine. What pitch would be best and should I take a 4 blade or a 3 blade prop ? Most time i will go just with my wife and me on the boat . Sometimes i like to go top speed , racing with my son s Baja 29 .😎😝1997 year , twin engine ,7,4 liter carburetor s, they say it runs 73 miles on gps . what do you guess will my boat run? It is about 1150 kg weight.
      What is a Jack plate ! ? I guess you can switch the engine up or down. Up is good for top speed ….. that means I have to tell the dealer where to mount the engine exactly , right ?as high as possible but not getting a crazy ruster tail of course

    • @MichaelKnappFishing
      @MichaelKnappFishing  3 роки тому

      @@chrisduc1 so as far the top speed and a 300 I honestly have no idea. Those would be questions to ask your dealer. The hydraulic hack plate raises the entire motor up and down. The hydraulic trim moves it at an angle but the jack plate is straight up and down

      Sorry man but I was expecting to get something other than promotion based upon the question mark title. My pals who are on their third or forth Merc. Are mostly disappointed with the new motor but everyone is so hung up on the sound rather than its performance all we get is video after video of how great it is but there is another youtuber cracking 78 with his SHO powered 205. So, when you finally break that beast in give us the real numbers with no BS and you’ll get some credit.

    • @MichaelKnappFishing
      @MichaelKnappFishing  3 роки тому

      @@richardjohnson6695 pretty sure I’m getting all the credit I need especially since your commenting and driving up my interaction rates. The Merc has never claimed to be the fastest motor on the water but it is the most reliable. That’s why majority of the pros run them. I’ve got over 60 hours on this motor and everything I said in the video is still the same. I didn’t have to drive mine to know what the others I had been behind would do.
