Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase for the PlayStation developed by Art Co., Ltd. and published by THQ.
Scooby and the gang are in a video game! No, really, they're stuck inside a video game. And there's a virus planning to keep them there. That's where you come in! Controlling both Scooby and Shaggy, it's up to you to help them navigate the game's levels and bring down the nasty Phantom Virus! Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase is based on the direct-to-video movie, released the same year as the game. The levels cover most typical level varieties, from frozen ice worlds to jungles and even ancient Rome! Platform over perilous jumps and throw pies at your enemies to stay Scooby and Shaggy alive, and pay close attention to your wireless communicator! You receive valuable advice from Fred, Daphne and Velma, too! Those meddling kids will help you! Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase is a single-player action game.
This video review features video gameplay footage of Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase for the PlayStation and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
That "F**k you, Velma" was personal.
I actually liked this game.
Same here.
It's one of the best games for PS1,wow you just reminded me of how horrible the controls really where, but the game was fun,i was good in this game after some time and that was a training how to be great at other games who have decent controls.
With lines straight from the movie.....
Yeah, I remember. My sister watched this 5 times in a row once, and I had NOTHING to do.
I loved this game when I was a kid. It is better than a lot of terrible games in the NES era, at least.
The controls, although clunky at times, were responsive for the most part. It's not the developers fault that you don't know what diagonal direction is. And considering it's a kids game, it's quite fun. I played this when I was 7 and enjoyed it. The camera was a bit shit but it's a minor issue. And yes, the arrows part used to get on my nerves but sometimes the last row wouldn't even hit you. I'd call it luck.
***** Actually you can use the Analog stick this game.
Jacob Carpenter I know, but it seems the reviewer didn't as he was having huge problems with that short diagonal platform.
***** Which version does he have? The version I have is the greatest hits version. That one had analog control. Does the original version have that as well?
Jacob Carpenter I've also played the version that supported analog control. I don't know which he has, though.
***** Oh okay.
This game was amazing. I remember buying it after I went to the dentist when i was like 6.
This game was the first game I ever owned. I remember my dad collected me from school one day and said he had a big suprise for me. It was that he'd gotten to the T. Rex boss (we'd been stuck in the dinosaur levels for ages)
When you grab the scooby snacks it has a sound similar to Super Mario 64 when you get the star at the end of levels as well as when you open a door with a star at the beginning of the game. At least to me it does.
It didn't age very well but damn was this the shit back in the days! One of the games I remember most vividly along with Spyro and Crash.
Omg this game was my childhood, i played the fuck out of this
I remember playing the GBA version. Never even knew it was on PS1
Just a quick tip to help with movement play on a ps3 with analog enabled for ps1 games and it’s a lot better
Nooooooo
This game was the perfect 3d platformer for me when i was younger
YOU'RE WRONG
I once bought a game for 2bucks in a store called Ninjabread Man. You should review that one. If you haven't already. You will pray for another round of Scooby-Doo.
I actually had the GBA version of this. It was at least functional, though I'd hesitate to call it a sidescrolling masterpiece. It had a few "Mode 7" moments.
What is really bad is that this is a late PS1 game, I think it was one of the last I played before I got a PS2. You would of though by that point they would of worked out simple problems like moving and jumping.
I had this game a long time ago, those sumo dudes used to freak me out.
I actually used to absolutely love this game.
I knew this game was bad but for some reason still loved, maybe I liked the difficulty but I do remember I eventually beat it
I keep seeing this game at my local video store and I loved the movie as a kid so I was tempted to pick it up. Glad I waited on derek to go through the pain first. Looks like it was trying to copy the early crash bandicoot games.
I actually loved this game...
Same
Huh, well I had this game as a kid and I don't remember it being that bad, but then again I don't remember ever getting past the china levels...
I started playing this with my nephew and we both like it
After getting to Level 2 I just went back to Crash Bandicoot.
seems like a really crappy crash bandicoot knockoff
I need this for my bad games collection.
I loved this game as a kid and i still do!
I played this game as a kid and kinda liked it. I still kinda do, though I do know it's not really objectively good. (Note the "kinda"s in this sentence, meaning I was aware there was FAR better and more functional games then, and am aware there's far better and more functional games now. My appreciation is driven by it being a childhood game, and little else.)
I love this game with all my life.
Damn, I remember this game from my child hood.
Watched the movie when I was a kid on VHS and wanted to play it so much. but I didn't have a PS . So I got scooby doo and the fun park phantom instead. but I always wanted to play this game. but seeing this... I'm glad I didn't.
Skooks: The Game.
This isn't that bad, despite being from the developer ''Art'', who also worked on the terrible Family Party 30 Great Games on the Wii U.
the karate men where the best thing ever
Used to love this game as a kid. Bet if i went back to it now id hate it aha
LOL "Fuck you velma"
All the characters look stoned.
THIS GAME HAS AWESOME GRAFICS!!!!
i dont whats bad about this game i love this game its not bad to me at all
This game would piss me off so much as a kid, the controls were broken, but it will still kind of fun, but now, it's undeniably a shit game.
This movie was the shit.
Hahaha, this game is hard as fuck, but i used to enjoy it back in the day.
I was young when i played this but not that young and i thought it was good! Ppl u should try it :P
gotta say it was SO HARD but i kinda loved it as a kid XD it was great.
Omg!!!! This was my first playstation game xD i loved it!!! Even till this day haha
I remember that game :)
yeah i thought this game was great back in the day, beat it multiple times. but those controls were awful.
Hey they made good licensed games back then too. Graphics weren't everything.
First game I ever played on my PS1 I used to think this game was awesome.....how wrong I was
Complete
I had this when I was little and even then I thought it sucked...
One of the first games I ever played right through to the end. Awful controls
Well the controls are better than you think I can control it easily and the game is one of the best on the ps1 it may be hard but that's part of the replatability it gives them a challenge and they will never forget that there is a pit there ever again
why does Derek get all the shitty games?
looks like a DS game
