I think the wildest thing about Bill's baseball game is that it has fighting game inputs. I think he was about to make what might possibly be the sickest baseball game ever made ngl.
This was my favorite film as a kid, but I distinctly remember always being disappointed they skipped through half the levels XD. It was fun to watch this retrospective on it, and the critiques are definitely valid
Cyber Chase is the Scooby Doo movie I think would be amazing if they revisited it today as a theatrical movie. The levels being different settings in their respected art styles from the 53 years worth of shows and movies (such as Coolsville from a pup named Scooby-Doo and Crystal Cove from Mystery Inc.) . And the monsters are one that we have unmasked before and at first they try to capture them the same way they did last time but it doesn't work this time or at-least one of the monster needs to be captured differently to progress in the game. Add different Scooby Doo gangs in their art styles and have them mix and match with each other gangs. If possible they could bring back the original live action gang idk why but I think that would be amazing to see. Other than the 4 original straight to home movie what Scooby Doo home movie is your favorite?
I personally loved the pacing of this one! the montage felt hype and the culmination of classic villains in the end was a great slap of nostalgia all at once rather than progressively teasing it over and over. Happy you mentioned the game! It was a blast as a child.
There's always something funny about how some stories portray a "digital world" inside computers that just kind of exists, almost as an alternate plane of reality. Like, everything portrayed on a screen is a window into a fully formed world full of tangible objects
This one will always hold a special place in my heart. The montage slaps so hard and I still quote “where there’s a will there’s a wooly mammoth” to this day. Definitely a bit of a missed opportunity given the possibilities in the premise alone but nonetheless love this one.
As a kid this also was my favorite out of the first four direct to video movies. It also didn't hold up as much for me either, although I still like it, and Zombie Island is my favorite now. I really liked all the classic monsters that show up to chase them, and the digital Scooby gang with their old outfits. I especially like how digital Shaggy is wearing his red shirt and blue jeans from the 80's era of Scooby-doo.
Yeah that was a really nice touch to put Cyber Shaggy in his 80s outfit and have Cyber cooby match him with his collar since the real ones were already in their retro look.
Oh, is that why! Ngl, that bothered me as a kid, I was like: "They had the clever idea of giving the digital versions the original costumes and art style, but for Shaggy they just... give him a completely different outfit?" I completely forgot about his cringey red-shirt era!
I'm surprised that Cyberchase was your favorite of these films, at least before the rewatch. For me Zombie Island was the best of the 4 "The Monsters are Real" Scooby-Doo films. It genuinely scared me as a kid, and I can't say that about any of the other films. I think it helps that it also had an overall darker color palette than Cyberchase. It probably also helps that I love "It's Terror Time Again." Meanwhile Cyberchase just didn't scare me at all as a kid. The design of the villain wasn't scary or creepy at all, the really bright, arguably over so, colors made it a lot harder to be scared imo, and I was way more fascinated by the gang meeting up with their in-game counterparts and also by the idea of a Scooby-Doo video game(look I was 5 in 01, I wasn't very aware of what video games existed). As for the rewrite you proposed, I do like the idea of having all 10 levels being about past villains, but I do wonder if that might have gotten old towards the end. Maybe you could chop the number of levels down considering the movie needed a montage of several levels. Maybe doing 5 levels where you get a new Mystery Gang member each level to help change up the comedic dynamic a bit could work.
I like your idea but I’d make it six levels the first five are as you described the creeper being the first boss as he’s the best known. Level six I’d actually base off the previous movies and have Simone and Leena, Sarah and Ben Ravencroft, and maybe I’d have the seti crew as their alien forms all being led by the phantom virus I’d also have the full gang in the final level.
Honestly the fact that the goal of the levels is to collect scooby snacks and the levels themselves have nothing to do with one another is just accurate to the state of license titles in 2001.
I disagree about the collecting Scooby Snack thing. I think it works fine. I feel like doing remakes of their past adventures would be too easy. Wouldn't they just know how to solve the cases?
I think it might have also been a homage to games with their limitations at the time, and how many old tie-in games would be nonsensical to the sources plot or themes.
The interesting thing about your rewrite is, Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed used a very similar concept - by having the costumes of their previous villains come to life , the gang had to revisit their past and defeat them again. The only thing missing is the video game aspects and the gang meeting themselves. If Cyber Chase had gone that route, Scooby Doo 2 would look VERY different, I'd imagine. Also, I would argue the problem was corporate bureaucracy more than capitalism or nepotism, since the higher ups imposed their will on the team and used someone who was already on staff. Not saying the two are unrelated in this case, but it's more directly a bureaucracy problem.
This is still my personal favorite Scooby Doo movie, but a lot of your points are valid. I'll always say that I think it could've been really cool if this was a tv show. Like them going through each level in an episode. Either way though, this movie was amazing to me as a kid, and still now. Seeing the original monsters that I grew up watching, coming back to be in this film was so nostalgic and really cool. They still nailed it with the music in the film, and had a lot of memorable chase scenes. The villain was obvious though. I mean come on, the phantom virus says something about baseball in every level lol
I remember the Cyber Chase being my favorite because I was always a sucker for video games as a kid, and still am, so even though it may not have been the best of the bunch I still enjoy it just for the unique concept alone.
That off script rant couldn't be more true. Just look at The Owl House. Finally has it's 3rd season, but got prematurely cancelled and shortened to three 45 minute specials because some idiot executives decided it wasn't what they wanted the company to do anymore, despite being one of the best shows Disney has produced recently.
Because of all the baseball references, it was easy to figure out who was causing all the trouble. The writers shouldn’t have made it so obvious. Other than that, it was enjoyable. It’s my 3rd favorite. 1. Zombie Island, 2. Witches Ghost, 3. Cyber Chase.
Yes!!!! Scoobtober has begun!! 😍 While Cyber Chase is my least favorite of the four movies you will be covering, that isn’t saying much - it is still VERY nostalgic for me. While Cyber Chase does involve a real monster, the atmosphere of this movie feels drastically different from the other three that you will be covering this month. It just doesn’t feel as weird/creepy as the other three. And I just wish we could have seen a little more of the other levels in the game, aside from seeing them in a montage. Long story short - thank you for giving me a dose of nostalgia this week :) I am so excited for the rest of Scoobtober! 🥰
I started thinking "why try to fix this movie" now honestly I think you bring up some great points. I feel like the only problem becomes they could use their experience but the virus possession idea kind of counters this issue.
My favourite part of this film is the final act where they meet the video game versions of themselves plus they did the monster team up better than Monsters Unleashed
"Trapped in a game" is one of my favorite categories I really liked this movie as a kid. I agree that the levels should not have been skipped. It's the same problem with the original SAO. They skipped way too many floors(levels).
Finally!!! I've waiting for someone like you to fix this movie up! Now to do the exact same thing with "Return To Zombie Island" and will have a worthy bizzaro sequel that still could've been!!! My version has the Crpyt Keeper as the main guest star Instead of Elmyria.
If this format does well I'd be down for more 'how to fix' videos. For now, we'll be focusing on appreciating the other three direct to video films made by this team, for what they did right. I'm super excited!
The one thing I love about this film as a kid was seeing them meet there past selfs in the game and kind of make fun of there looks that is the only real part of this movie I remember.
This is a childhood classic! I watch it time to time with my brother😅 i think this was the most light hearted out of this scooby mini series the only one to get a game no brainer there i did a review on this movie last month. Loved hearing your opinions💕
I owned the GBA version of this game which entertained me enough as a kid when these came out, but as a little boy I was also in the hospital a lot due to severe asthma complications. I remember my dad would always do scooby impressions whilst we sat and played the PS1 game together. Despite their flaws, these movies will and these versions of the characters will always be hold a special place for me. Then again, I was generally scooby-obsessed as a kid!
when I saw the movie as a kid I thought this movie was going to be about the gang collaborating with cyber chase (from pbs kids since I grew up without cable)
Great vid, Kiki!! I love how you go more indepth on the background of the movie and not just the content. As always, the "ad-breaks" are a bit annoying, but also nostalgic and well implemented. The music is a bit overpowering tho
Gotta get paid for my time and effort. I just prefer to stylize them a bit rather than drop ads in randomly in the middle of sentences like half the creators on this website
I just simply liked it because it was apart of the movie collection that last used those animation style, but now I see what you're getting at and I agree. Now I do remember not being too satisfied with the level skips. Witch's Ghost and Zombie Island were my favorites. I liked how in Zombie Island it shows how they all moved on in life. Daphne was a breath of fresh air with her having the most character development from the damsel in distress. With Witch's Ghost I like how Thorn is actually 1/16th wiccan which was a nice twist. Also how many witches are actually wiccans were persecuted falsely, but the wiccan was actually a witch the entire time. Both of those films had an extra layer of complexity in their story in my opinion. Now though those are my favorite, Alien Invaders are in their own category. It was more so emotional for me. I don't think I've seen a love story such as this in the Scooby Doo franchise up until that point. The fact they were aliens made it even more so like drama. Love interests literally worlds apart. I was hoping maybe Scooby and Shaggy got to see them again at least one more time, in another film possibly. (Hey they did a sequel to Zombie Island, but we don't talk about that.)
I got to be honest I completey blanked on that middle portion and only remembered the beginning and last 30 minutes. So I was surprised when I saw this videos title but watching actually helped me understand the flaws of the movie. Good work Kiki :) 💙 OH good editing too :0
Always remember that just because someone critiques a movie or show, it doesn't mean that we're saying that it's bad. Although I'm not really a fan of this movie myself, I understand why others still appreciate it. It's nostalgic and has its charm. Scooby Doo and the Witch's Ghost is my close second favorite Scooby film after ZB and even I acknowledge some of it's flaws but don't let that ruin it for me because it's still a masterpiece in my eyes and you shouldn't let the flaws or criticisms of Cyber Chase ruin it for you either. 👍❤️
My favorite part is when they see there past selfs in the video game its actually interesting for them to see there selves its easy to tell if its the real and cyber one the cyber ones voices are a little robotic and old designs
Oh, good, I was worried at the beginning that this was your favorite of the films, haha. It's not bad, but I definitely agree with what you said here. The best part of the film is them interacting with their "digital" versions. I'd never really considered the villain here retroactively as being innocent, which is both funny, and like you said, kind of upsetting in some ways. I'm really looking forward to the other film reviews/retrospectives. Hope you're doing well and not overworking yourself. Edit: I also know you're only covering the main films this month, but I'm definitely going to ask you about the Red (pink?) Shirt Shaggy films if I catch you on stream. I really love Ghoul School and Reluctant Werewolf.
You are absolutely right, but this movie is still amazing. One of my favourites even now. Also random fact cause why not whenever I was sick as a kid I would put this film on and it would somehow heal me
Loved this movie as a kid, had it on VHS and watched it a good bunch. I probably should revisit this film for the heck of it but it is weird that the game that was supposedly about them really didn't feel like it. I really do wish that Warner Brothers allowed the original creators to have the creative liberty that they deserved because Zombie Island is a BANGER... your ideas for what could've been were really cool and if they hired the right team nowadays (Although I don't think that'll be the case because of Velma), a Return to the Cyber Chase with these elements would probably be one of the best Scooby-Doo movies ever. You've gained a new subscriber, glad to be here.
wow i love how you added the bump before the ad break. hit me right in the nostalgia. the dynamic of the two versions of the gang is definitely the best part of this movie for me. they are so funny.
When looking back at this movie I remember this one being my absolute favourite. I always get a feeling to rewatch these movies, but I don't wanna go back and ruin that memory
Had the movie on VHS as a kid, I completely forgot about all of the weirdness with the ancient levels! I can only really remember the second half with the vintage gang. Also had the game and never beat it! Man I kind of want to dig that out now
I feel like the first half of the movie should've been them going through the game and fighting old villains (like you said), then they escape in the second half and they have to fight the virus who escaped the game, making him the final boss
a great example of how executives are extremely out of touch with the general public and need to stay out of the creation process. i remembered this movie fondly because of the last level of the game but rewatching it, it just wasnt the same. the other levels had potential to be good but they really just were so forgettable. my memories of the stuff i saw as a kid arent the clearest but i know i saw so, so much scooby doo stuff as a kid man. it couldve been great.
I'll admit, your idea for a rewrite is a much better premise than what we got. This is still a masterpiece imo, but your idea would've been much better
I wouldn't say masterpiece, but it isn't as bad as guys been saying. For me Zombie Island is as close to a masterpiece you can get in the Scooby Doo franchise.
Scooby Doo on Zombie Island was the main event for a Friday night after school. Witch’s Ghost was a great Saturday night feature, Alien Invaders can also be watched on a Saturday but I prefer the darker Witch’s Ghost to play us out on a Saturday night. Cyber Chase… is the movie you watch on a Sunday afternoon while you dread having to go back to school the next day. 😪😪 It’s still fun enough, the ending where they say goodbye to their game avatars is sweet and feels like a signing off for this era of Scooby Doo that revived the franchise. Also Scooby and Shaggy eating the whole cafeteria was funny.
Defintely glad the show was still fun even if it wasn't as good as the others. Especially as a kid, and now a adult, I think just exploring so many places was just fun. Beating levels, traveling, as a poor kid this one really took you out of reality for a good bit.
I love Scooby-Doo and the cyberchase I recently acquired the DVD release of this movie just last year and when I rewatched it I instantly forgot how amazingly wonderful it was untill I rewatched again speaking of witch I haven't watched it since then but hopefully I will get around to watching it again I've been occupied with other hobbies and interests of mine as of lately but hopefully I'll get around to watching it again because it was definitely fun and very enjoyable for me to rewatch
I loved this movie, but I haven't seen it since like 2005 so I didn't really remember much except that I thought the villain was cool (the blue guy not the baseball dude lol)
Agreed. for a movie about a video game about themselves. You think they would take inspiration from previous shows and movies. But all it was just," Gang tries to survive Cyber space". They could of easily used the monster from previous series an make them fit into their environment. Imagine samurai Chinese Zombie, A Terminator Space Kook, An Abominable Snow ghost there's plenty of ways to fits these guys into the movie someway in some form.
Aside from Zombie Island, I haven't seen the original four in a hot minute, so seeing vids assessing them has been nice to hear and think about. I think generally speaking for me, this movie was solid enough, I don't think I had any strong opinions on it one way or the other. At least the montage has Hello Cyberdream which I think is a bop. For the games, I played both. Never made progress on the gameboy version cuz I sucked, and I actually played the ps1 version a few years ago and got further than I did as a kid, unfortunatley the VIrus is a pain in the ass final boss and I couldn't beat him. Oh well.
7:57 your listing of the iconic villains just reminds me how much those villains were intrinsic to the franchise. I have also been a lifelong Scooby Doo fan. I don't remember watching Cyber Chase, but I also somehow do, so I must have at least seen it in passing. I think that it would have been great to revisit the enemies of their past, but I think that it would have been interesting if they started by trying to solve the first case the way they originally did and it didn't work. They then realize that each case (level) can only be solved after they find the levels Scooby Snacks as those are the game's key items. And maybe the details of each level are completely wrong for what it was like in the game. It would also be funny if they used the old door gag as a game mechanic. You enter a door and when you exit, it is a different door.
Cyber Chase was always my favorite so I'm a bit sad to hear the staff didn't like the plot and didn't like making the movie. Admittedly, it is based primarily on nostalgia and seeing the movie come on TV during the summer or on a relaxing Sunday, so there's definitely some external emotional value to my opinion on the film. I didn't mind the level montage but I can see why it would not be fun for others.
I get that a lot of people don't like this movie, and I can understand why, but I still love this movie. Ignoring it's problems, I find it so much fun to watch! This movie is the one I like to just turn off my brain for and just enjoy the weird, wackiness of it. Definitely not my favorite out of all the Scooby movies, but still enjoyable.
My favorite part was during the Scooby-Doo theme song chase montage with the phantom virus was how much they beat the crap out of him before they got zapped into cyberspace
It would be cool if the Werecat Trio, Ben & Sarah Ravencroft and the Alien "Invaders" returned (As cyber versions that is) and teamed up with the Phantom Virus and the other monsters to defeat Mystery Ink. Though some of their voice actors wouldn't want to reprise their roles so unless it's major villains, the more minor ones probably wouldn't have a speaking role.
Biggest thing was for a game about Scooby Doo's history, it really fell flat. Why are the levels (Minus maybe the last one) just such generic locations? Would've been cooler if each level was designed around iconic Scooby Doo cases and locations with a fitting ghost to each one rather than stuffing the fan service all at the last level. Also they made the reveal way WAY too obvious even by Scooby Doo standards. Would've been an effective twist if the other scientist was behind it and framed the baseball guy with his overt love of sports as tips to try to frame him.
To be fair, most kid’s adventure games in the late 90’s and early 00’s had “themed” level designs that had nothing to do with the overall premise that the game was based on. I’m thinking of games like Spyro or Crash Bandicoot (since those are what I was playing at the time this movie was released). They both have Dinosaur, Samurai, and Arctic levels in one or all of their games even though those themes have nothing to do with a magical purple dragon or a “Bandicoot” that’s from some tropical Pacific-espue island.
Thank you. Finally someone that looks past their nostalgia glasses and actually sees it as it was. This movie always felt way too different than the other 3 scooby movies of this era, and I never understood why some people still insist this is the best of them, because to me, it’s just not a scooby doo movie, and the rest are.
The Zombie Island team felt the same way about it - just listened to a podcast interview with Lance Falk last night. Wish I had heard it before I made the video because there are some great clips that would have helped my point.
Its really enjoyable and great fun, the monster being real and the concept is great, mystery inc being trapped in a video game and get out and try to find out who created the phantom virus, definetly lighter, only problem I had was the culprit was so obvious, Witch's Ghost is my Favourite regardless, Alien Invaders for me is the weakest but still top tier
That Backyard Baseball clip gave me a direct brain injection of nostalgia. I haven't seen that since I was an actual small child. Honestly, I didn't even remember what it was called until I googled. And it seems I had Backyard Baseball 1997 specifically, too.
An interesting take about the levels reflecting locations that the gang have been to before, specifically where they faced a certain monster from an episode of the classic shows. Also a neat idea to place an iconic monster in each level as it's boss instead of saving all of them until the very end like in the original movie. The movie had ten levels and five classic monsters: the creeper, gator ghoul, tar monster, old iron face and jaguaro. If in your version we did see all ten levels and I'm assuming you would have saved the phantom virus for the tenth and final level what other four classic monsters would you of personal picked to place in the other levels leading up to the final one?
I would’ve had a lot more monsters in the final level. They would be Redbeard, The Phantom of Vasquez Castle, the Space Kook, the Phantom Shadow, and Captain Cutler. During the final battle, the Phantom Virus summons more monsters mostly the iconic ones who were left out of the starting roster and the Tar Monster who I replaced with Captain Cutler.
This Scooby Doo movie was fanservice. 1. Red Shirt Shaggy 2. The Creeper from Scooby Doo Where Are You 3. Gator Ghoul, Jaguaro, Tar Monster & Old Iron Face from The Scooby Doo Show
I've always liked the video game much more than the movie. I don't blame you for not finishing it, it's rather difficult, especially in the later levels. Though the learning curve is what drives the game a bit as it's only about 2 1/2 hours once you play through it a few times. Didn't know it had a Gameboy version to be honest
As a kid I would always talk about how this was the coolest scooby-doo film despite how underwhelmed I felt whenever I was actually watching it. You can call be a basic b if you want but nowadays I’ll call Zombie Island my fave
From an in universe stand point. i wonder if the notible lack of Mystery Inc Theming in the other levels were meant to be a sign of the meddling the bad guy did. Or if each level was originally gonna be "Mystery Inc BUT IN SPACE!", " Mystery Inc, but Gladiators!", etc and etc. Maybe (retroactively) we could assume levels like the space and undersea pirate levels could be misunderstood and vague mishmashes of stories that Eric heard.
This movie was my favorite as a kid (I probably found it the least scariest). Recently, I had watched it on Cartoon Network and enjoyed it. A week later it was a back up movie for a Halloween Watch Along with my friends and I had already forgotten who the villain was. I kept thinking the villain was the guard or the professor. We felt that the game part didn't make sense and had no reason to tie into Scooby Doo.
back when blockbuster still existed my parents let me rent this one (i remember hating it because the villain was scary or something) and when i returned it to blockbuster i accidently put one of my favorite sccoby doo movies in the cyberchase case and returned it. after that i was stuck with the movie 😅
When this movie came on when i was a kid i was obsessed bc it wasnt on as much as the others and the plot and the scene where they met the old gang in the video game. Same as you when i rewatched as an adult i found it lacking. If i had the vhs or the DVD of this one like the others and watched it more than a handful of times I would've caught on as a preteen. My favorite part of it as a kid was once they were in the game because that sort of isekai video game based story was so up my alley. I loved cyber chase and code lyoko
I think the wildest thing about Bill's baseball game is that it has fighting game inputs.
I think he was about to make what might possibly be the sickest baseball game ever made ngl.
hadouken and run to third base 😭😭🤣
@@offbeatkiki okay but imagine you drop the bat and just kick the ball out the park 😂
ROUND 1 - PLAY BALL!!!
Slugfest?
It started off a hockey game, but the characters kept falling over when they fought.
This was my favorite film as a kid, but I distinctly remember always being disappointed they skipped through half the levels XD. It was fun to watch this retrospective on it, and the critiques are definitely valid
Same wished they would have shown more of the levels
Same
Same that kinda sucked, at least shorten the amount of levels at that point
That's probably why I enjoyed the video game so much since you got to go through those levels.
Gotta play the ps1 game to get the full lore lol
Cyber Chase is the Scooby Doo movie I think would be amazing if they revisited it today as a theatrical movie. The levels being different settings in their respected art styles from the 53 years worth of shows and movies (such as Coolsville from a pup named Scooby-Doo and Crystal Cove from Mystery Inc.) . Seeing more art style changes would be so dope. I haven't seen a lot of the more modern ones TBH! I always loved Ghoul School but that was a TV movie
I personally loved the pacing of this one! the montage felt hype and the culmination of classic villains in the end was a great slap of nostalgia all at once rather than progressively teasing it over and over. Happy you mentioned the game! It was a blast as a child.

It's like Scooby-Doo meets Digimon.
@@Blokewood3 pretty much...
This one will always hold a special place in my heart. The montage slaps so hard and I still quote “where there’s a will there’s a wooly mammoth” to this day.
Definitely a bit of a missed opportunity given the possibilities in the premise alone but nonetheless love this one.

True, but it would’ve been a cool and funny idea to have them attempt to speed run the cases and have them not work for whatever reason.

Unfortunatly it's the only one available in HD of the original ones as far as I know due to the digital animation. Loved your thoughts.
Tragic!! Thanks for watching.
I started thinking "why try to fix this movie" now honestly I think you bring up some great points. I feel like the only problem becomes they could use their experience but the virus possession idea kind of counters this issue.
The only thing I would do is change the culprit and add more levels to it.
My favourite part of this film is the final act where they meet the video game versions of themselves plus they did the monster team up better than Monsters Unleashed
This was one of the only Scooby Doo movies they had at the video store by my house growing up, I probably watched it a hundred times
im obsessed with ur thumbnails fyi and ima binge all your scooby doo videos :)
"Trapped in a game" is one of my favorite categories
I really liked this movie as a kid.
@@offbeatkiki have you seen the Negative 10 rewrite because that’s got me an idea for Scooby Doo 2 Monsters Unleashed?
Return to Zombie Island was ehh...Ok I suppose
I've binged watched all your scooby doo vids, and it unlocked my nostalgia, I really enjoyed them :D
@@offbeatkiki speaking of, do you have a Patreon?
You are gonna love this week's video on Alien Invaders!!
It doesn't need to be fixed, it's perfect and my favorite of the first four direct-to-video films.
Same along with Witch's Ghost.
I got to be honest I completey blanked on that middle portion and only remembered the beginning and last 30 minutes. So I was surprised when I saw this videos title but watching actually helped me understand the flaws of the movie. Good work Kiki :) 💙 OH good editing too :0
No need to fix
Just watch the video first, damn! 🤣
@@offbeatkiki lmao I am
Always remember that just because someone critiques a movie or show, it doesn't mean that we're saying that it's bad. Although I'm not really a fan of this movie myself, I understand why others still appreciate it. It's nostalgic and has its charm. Scooby Doo and the Witch's Ghost is my close second favorite Scooby film after ZB and even I acknowledge some of it's flaws but don't let that ruin it for me because it's still a masterpiece in my eyes and you shouldn't let the flaws or criticisms of Cyber Chase ruin it for you either. 👍❤️
@@offbeatkikiNo reason to even make the video because nothing needs to be changed in this movie.
Also random fact cause why not whenever I was sick as a kid I would put this film on and it would somehow heal me
I had some comfort movies like that too. Love it!
I loved this film as a kid. Still kinda do as an adult.
wow i love how you added the bump before the ad break. hit me right in the nostalgia.
the dynamic of the two versions of the gang is definitely the best part of this movie for me. they are so funny.
When looking back at this movie I remember this one being my absolute favourite. I always get a feeling to rewatch these movies, but I don't wanna go back and ruin that memory
Love this video - one of my favorite movie as a kid and it was great to revisit it haha
Fighting the virus IRL at the end would have been cool!
a great example of how executives are extremely out of touch with the general public and need to stay out of the creation process.
i remembered this movie fondly because of the last level of the game but rewatching it, it just wasnt the same. the other levels had potential to be good but they really just were so forgettable. my memories of the stuff i saw as a kid arent the clearest but i know i saw so, so much scooby doo stuff as a kid man. it couldve been great.
I was thinking this was the cyber chase from pbs kids. Omg your video quality is so awesome
This was a great analysis of a childhood favorite! Zombie island terrified me till I was older lol
@@schris3 very true, I rewatched it last night
have not seen backyard baseball in like 18 years, thank you for the memory jog.
This is one of my favorite Scooby-Doo movies along with Zombie Island this movie and Zombie Island are my favorite
It’s still fun enough, the ending where they say goodbye to their game avatars is sweet and feels like a signing off for this era of Scooby Doo that revived the franchise.
Also Scooby and Shaggy eating the whole cafeteria was funny.
Bold strategy lmao. I haven’t rewatched it in so long i dont know if it does hold up. I’m interested in which movies gonna be your favorite
Defintely glad the show was still fun even if it wasn't as good as the others. Especially as a kid, and now a adult, I think just exploring so many places was just fun. Beating levels, traveling, as a poor kid this one really took you out of reality for a good bit.
One of My favorites as a kid 😊❤️
This one, witch's ghost & alien invaders hold a special place in my heart
I love Scooby-Doo and the cyberchase I recently acquired the DVD release of this movie just last year and when I rewatched it I instantly forgot how amazingly wonderful it was untill I rewatched again speaking of witch I haven't watched it since then but hopefully I will get around to watching it again I've been occupied with other hobbies and interests of mine as of lately but hopefully I'll get around to watching it again because it was definitely fun and very enjoyable for me to rewatch
“I’m not bad, I’m just programmed that way.”
- The Virus from this movie lol
I loved this movie, but I haven't seen it since like 2005 so I didn't really remember much except that I thought the villain was cool (the blue guy not the baseball dude lol)
This was honestly my favorite one.
Agreed. for a movie about a video game about themselves.
That’s sounds like the Negative 10 rewrite and I thought that for Monsters Unleashed
I wish they had more villains from the past like: The Black Knight, The Circus Clown, The Apeman, Charlie The Robot & The Snow Ghost.
Grey Griffin has such great range between Daphne and Azula. Two great roles I will always remember.
Oh well.
Eric should have been revealed as the villain; with the baseball clues so beating-over-your-head obvious that his friend must have been framed.
Though some of their voice actors wouldn't want to reprise their roles so unless it's major villains, the more minor ones probably wouldn't have a speaking role.
wow this was really good. Great format and not a lot of fluff. Take my sub!
Because in universe the fame designers had no idea what they were doing
To be fair, most kid’s adventure games in the late 90’s and early 00’s had “themed” level designs that had nothing to do with the overall premise that the game was based on. I’m thinking of games like Spyro or Crash Bandicoot (since those are what I was playing at the time this movie was released). They both have Dinosaur, Samurai, and Arctic levels in one or all of their games even though those themes have nothing to do with a magical purple dragon or a “Bandicoot” that’s from some tropical Pacific-espue island.
I LOVE THIS. I love these movies! I love scooby doo! I love that you have BUMPERS?!?
Its really enjoyable and great fun, the monster being real and the concept is great, mystery inc being trapped in a video game and get out and try to find out who created the phantom virus, definetly lighter, only problem I had was the culprit was so obvious, Witch's Ghost is my Favourite regardless, Alien Invaders for me is the weakest but still top tier
ah, yes... Good Ol'
*_SPINDLY JOHNNY_*
Ah! SPINDLY JOHNNY! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!
My Favourite Cartoon Of All Time. 🐐
That Backyard Baseball clip gave me a direct brain injection of nostalgia. I haven't seen that since I was an actual small child. Honestly, I didn't even remember what it was called until I googled. And it seems I had Backyard Baseball 1997 specifically, too.
the song during the montage was pretty fun.
I would probably do an audience study to find out what the most recognizable villains are and use those.
@@offbeatkiki an audience study? So look up the most recognised villains of the classic shows
Black Knight, Witch Doctor, Electric Ghost or Android, Redbeard
@@J4R0D when you say electric ghost and android do you mean the Ten Thousand volt ghost and Charlie the haunted robot?
@@thomaselliottjohncampbell3024 Yes, haven't watched the OG sreies in years sadly
I showed all these movies to the kids I teach! They loved them!
Cyber Chase and Backyard Baseball? Okay, my childhood! Let me subscribe.
This Scooby Doo movie was fanservice.
1. Red Shirt Shaggy
2. The Creeper from Scooby Doo Where Are You
3. Gator Ghoul, Jaguaro, Tar Monster & Old Iron Face from The Scooby Doo Show
I would love to see a vid on Total Drama, The Snorks, The Smurfs, The Powerpuff Girls & Josie & The Pussycats.
Extremely disappointed to see this isn’t a crossover with Cyberchase
I've always liked the video game much more than the movie. I don't blame you for not finishing it, it's rather difficult, especially in the later levels. Though the learning curve is what drives the game a bit as it's only about 2 1/2 hours once you play through it a few times. Didn't know it had a Gameboy version to be honest
Fun fact: this film was dedicated to William Hannah
Cyber chase and zombie island were my favourites
Bill was apparently making Lethal League
Lethal League Blaze is easily the most fun I've had with a fighting game. ORDINARY DAY AWOOOO
@@offbeatkiki Candyman is my favorite, i love his goofy yet deranged style. and the music is just perfect
This was great Im excited for the Zombie Island video
This was the first Scooby Doo... _thing_ I ever watched. 2001, eh? Wow. It feels like a dream to me.
I personally really liked when they went in the game as the kid and see the old villains. I think if it was remade it could be rlly good
Scooby-Doo and the Spindly Johnny
Cyber Chase is literal cinema but the main villain himself is weak af
back when blockbuster still existed my parents let me rent this one (i remember hating it because the villain was scary or something) and when i returned it to blockbuster i accidently put one of my favorite sccoby doo movies in the cyberchase case and returned it. after that i was stuck with the movie 😅
Students are not all equal.
