  • Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik writes and lectures extensively on the relevance of mythology in matters related to leadership, entrepreneurship, branding, management and governance. He serves as Chief Belief Officer of the Future Group. And is also story consultant to Star TV.
    Trained in medicine, he spent 15 years in healthcare and pharmaceutical industries including Apollo Health Street and Sanofi Aventis, before joining Ernst & Young as Business Advisor. His show Business Sutra with CNBC-18 and Shastrarth with CNBC-awaaz are popular with viewers for their innovative approach and simplicity. He has written over 25 books for everyone from adults to children,to business executives.

      Syed Mohiuddin Shareef Yes and it's to be noted that all the sermons are not religious. All the examples are metaphors to explain the point. The plan of action is specified but the the desired Outcome is not guaranteed.

    great analogy..i think the hunger that one pursues to fulfill depends on what stage on entrepreunership one has evolved into...If u have just started your business, you are always in search of satisfying you own hunger and look forward to building the ivory tower or swarg for yourself and if others feel exploited in the way,,so be it!! Later on the realisation of insecurity appears once the ivory tower has been created and then the entrepreuner seeks to satisfy others hunger in a manner that reinforces his concept of swarg..so he seeks to create a society of like minded souls for himself and chooses whom to support and help out and whom to leave out..clearly knowing that the vaikuntam that he creates is only representative of his ultimate aim to reach out to everyone..obviously he cannot come down as an avatar to each and everyone and provide help..Then comes the third stage when he gets fed up of spoon feeding individuals perennially and then seeks to create a system that takes care of the social inequalities (that lead to exploitation in the first place) through philanthropy,aid, sponsorships, scholarships, donations so that the cow is not afraid of the tiger, the snake is not afraid of the peacock etc in the hope that eventually the hunger is overcome.. I think Bill Gates, Tatas, etc are an example of the third phase of pursuing kailasam, Narayana murthy is a wonderful example of the second phase of pursuing vaikuntam while all first generation entrepreuners are examples of the first phase of pursuing swarg....

      great content and analogy. Your three stages as explained swarga , vaikuntha and kaisala is more resonating to me than Mr. Dev Dutt's chronological order. The same idea , if I may , can be explained by the representation of the three gunas. Tamas- the quality of satisfying one's own hunger and roughly to some extend in a self-centered way. Rajas is the guna of passion and creation. Sharing your part of food among the needy to find relevance in society. Rajas can be considered as the way of Vishnu.
      Last, is Sattva, the way of shiva where every compromise has been made self-lessly in the service of others ,without the expectation of return. This is where the hunger is outgrown. The desires are burnt as person becomes self-sufficient and self-content.

    • @atchutram9894
      @atchutram9894 7 років тому +2

      As long as we derive respect from English, language we feel that there are a few intellectuals in India than in English speaking countries like US. He speaks about very basic principle in Indian ideology. I don't see a great thought process by any standard in this talk. It is about communicating existing thoughts in a way that alienated generations (from their ancestors) will feel great. There are many Intellectuals who speak local/native language in very simple terms but with abundance of knowledge. We deny them in the name of modernization. It is derogatory to make such comments on India and Indians. On a positive note, what he talks about is significant and adds to our pride.But No one is above Nation and its pride.

    The growing trend of non-profits impacting the world supports his idea of "Feeding other people before you". The big organisations like Wikipedia, UNICEF, RedCross, Wikileaks slowly but steadily showing that impact can be made without thinking too much about profit. I am sure in future we are going to see great surge of Non-profits and many more people will be willing to work in them.

    • @drokraebube2983
      @drokraebube2983 2 роки тому +1

      But all these "non profits" depend on someone who is making profit. Why are we burryin our heads in the sand in the face of reality. If the non profits surge, who will finance their activities?

    So nice - what an ideal explanation for an elusive secret about public centric business. After how many years, the West has finally instituted an appropriate legal framework for such a thing ("public benefit corporation"), venture has joined in recognizing it and naming its features ("patient capital,") - and it is superior in many ways to typical "charity" and "build-to-sell" old capitalism. A kingdom of genuine caring and a playground of peace is now possible.
