The Raiders, the Warriors, the Athletics and even In-N-Out Burger and so many others have left or closed up.I used to go to Oakland to watch the professional athletes running around on a field or court. The only people running around now in Oakland are the bad guys committing crimes. I can't think of any reason to go to Oakland anymore.

That stadium was ancient and had been falling apart for many years. It was the last multi use stadium bring used. It needed replacing twenty years ago but Oakland not being able to fund schools couldn't afford a decent place for the A's to play in. Then again the ballpark was in a high crime zone and nobody went to the games. How can the A's survive? In Las Vegas they will draw many more people to their games. The park will be in a much safer area and they will finally get revenue to field a team of their own instead of being a Yankee farm club because nobody wanted to play in Oakland.
Places from a distance may look worse than they really are, but all the news about crime & businesses closing down (partly because of crime?) in Oakland truly does look bad. The A's (if not Raiders too) leaving go way beyond merely the issue of politics, however. But bad governance & lousy voters sure haven't helped matters. Same with SF across the bay.

The Ravens taking the AFC title in Oakland helped to make The Ravens as a viable replacement for the Colts, and CFL Stallions. The Oakland Collisum is the home of many great ball games. Baseball is the best and Oakland s park is leftover when men had enough sense to put the park far enough back from the field, by necessity because of dual use, to not have those ghastly nets ruining the views in person, and Worse of television . I loved the old PA announcer at Oakland so proper so deep and respectful different than Rex Barney in Baltimore but 100x better than the goofy DJ types and feminine whispers that inhabit too many parks.
