Editors Notes LOL 1 - I was also sick when I recorded this, but less so than the previous video. I used the time to record a bunch of scripts lol 2 - I originally planned to have this video out for the recent Golden Spawning Grounds rotation but because I was sick, I didn't get the chance. I'm early for Big Run next week! :D 3 - If you saw my community post yesterday, you'll know where there is no lobby footage. If you didn't, see here: www.youtube.com/@rachelskiiiiiii/community 4 - When I tell you the original script for this video was LONG, trust me on that. The finished product came in at 14 minutes but the original was 30+. I just don't believe 30 minute videos talking about minute differences with weapons will interest people so I cut a lot. I cut some stuff that I didn't want to, but felt I had to. Stuff I didn't talk about is huge, but the main one is shot spread and how this changes a lot when you jump and move. I mention it briefly but I appreciate that there is a lot more depth to it. The same goes for the damage calculations - I could spend 15 minutes alone talking about all the different damage values and how they change depending on how long you charge for. For the sake of brevity, I cut this to just fully charged, partial charges at the first circle and tap shots. I'm aware the footage doesn't always allign and sometimes I hold for longer than a tap or shorter than a partial. This weapon has so much to it that it became a dissertation (more so than the Slosher) when discussing the damage and how it changes. I also didn't keep in a section about range and how this changes too, depending on the level of charge or the way you aim. Again, it was tough, but I wanted to keep this under 15 minutes. 5 - Generally speaking, I learned from reviewing my own footage that I use tap shots for paint and extremely close up fights (lessers and Kings), parital charges for almost everything else and fully charged for long range and 1200+ damage. There is no right way to play this weapon, it's just the way I do. 6 - Link to Triumvirate video is in the video itself and my correction is also in the description for that video. Thanks for the support as always!!!!!!!!
something else I find useful with this weapon and wellstring is that jumping with a full charge can have all the arrows land in roughly the same place, which can allow you to deal high damage to distant single targets when you need to
I watched this video specifically for steel heads. Until now, I've been trying to arc a vertical partial charge shot, but it was pretty tough. The way you showed in the video seems much easier. What a weird way to have to aim.
Yeah I’ve had a couple people mention this, it’s not intuitive at all and I think that’s why people struggle. Wellstring has a similar issue actually. But I’m glad I could help.
It's a little funny how, despite the shot spread being symmetrical horizontally, I find it so much easier to line up that sweet spot on the right as well. When I'm in situations where it would be faster to aim using the left side, I struggle, so I end up taking the extra time to turn and use the right side anyway Xd
my favorite part about the grizzco stringer, and really all stringers, in and out of salmon run is using fall off to hit more targets, if theres a drizzler or a lid or eel or big shot or anything like that, and ur too far away to get close to it to make sure u hit all 9 shots, or if theyre behind a wall or something, u can try to positon urself and aim ur shots so that u can jump and shoot then all ur shots will reach the max distance then fall straight down and sometimes one shooting these bosses and u can use partial charges too if far but a little too close that a full charge will over shoot it, this is a tatic used in regular battles with stringer so its super hard to do, it takes lot of practice but its really fun and satisfying to do
Yes, I get what you mean! I spoke about the in my original draft but cut it due to time. I think it’s more useful in PvP than PvE but I appreciate how fun/unique it is and how it can be helpful.
The Grizz stringer is the one weapon that I always had a hard time working with. But this video is giving me ideas that should make using it in the future much easier. Thanks!
I love Grizzco stringer! I remember not liking the weapon when it released due to how "spammy" it felt back then untill I realized the 2 crosshairs to the right could be used for long range sniping like you talk about in the video! Became one of my favorite Grizzco weapons after that! So much fun!
Glad to help! There could be an argument to make about full versus partials but I think it only really applies to overfishing or min/maxing the mode, which is why I said partials will generally serve you better.
Always a new thing to learn for SR! I'll take this opportunity to thank you for your videos. They've helped me reach Evp 999 on all maps only freelancing 🙏
Grizzco Stringer. Let's you Ctrl-Alt-Del an enemy when you use it right, gets you Ctrl-Alt-Del when not. No notes from me other than I've found that when dealing with Maws, you can sometimes splat them with a partial shot and then a tap shot. Could just be me, but it's good to know if the situation doesn't allow you to stay still and charge it fully.
I love this weapon although i do get this grizzco weapon more often, but the grizzco blaster is what got the most. I did get this weapon more in triumvirate, and this happened during spawning grounds that i got a this stringer that i tend to focus on the kings. Me and my team beat Joe with 1 second remaining on a low tide. I did beat another triumvirate, but on high tide with 2 sloshers and 2 brellas, which i had this one. I beat that too. Imagine if you and team have 4 grizzco stringers that would be funny to be a boss slaying, and that really happened to me in triumvirate wavr where me and my teammates all have grizzco stringers, and we lost even thou it was very funny similar to you having 4 grizzco rollers. Great video.😀😀😀 Also I learned the technique that you used on steelhead from a youtuber that is an exsplatoon player named Hamzy. He did great videos of salmon. He quit to play splatoon to focus on other games. I think Hamzy nows you since splatoon 2, and Hamzy knows Chewoomy since splatoon 2 too. You and Hamzy not know of my in game name is even thou I remembered bumping to you before, but Chewoomy may know of my in-game since she was curious of my in game, and I told about her about my in game, and she remembers my in game. At least I don't have to worry about bumping into Chewoomy, since she completed all salmon badges, and banners, but still she plays a rotation of triumvirate and big runs.
I definitely think this thing deserves an S tier, and using it has always felt fun if extremely weird. What I like most is absolutely nuking something up close if I get the excuse to do it.
You were saying to use partial charges for pure DPS but I've been confident of the opposite since the moment I got eyes on the parameters. For context on my reasoning: Full charges do more then double damage with exactly twice as much ink use in less then double the amount of time. Seems pretty cut and dry that it's better but I am now considering how 9 'near' half charges compare to 4 full charges because full charges are 24% while half charges are 12%. It's also worth noting that if you are using half charges for boss DPS you should try and charge 1 frame less then half because there's extra lag if you charge at least 1 ring with stringer weapons, and that means optimal half charges are using less then 12% anyway. About halfway through my testing I realized just how unbelievably ink hungry tap shots are at 9%, and I just didn't bother finishing because you can't even get a tap shot after 8 half charges. As far as raw DPS goes full charges are better in terms of, for example, just punching a king in the face. I think there's great value in using half charges on hoards for general damage just to produce more bombs for what you don't hit. Also in order to spread out damage over time just to hit things more consistently. As long as you aren't tap shotting I think it's fine lmao. Makes me wonder how good tap shots vs half charges are for painting now, but I don't have a way to test grizzco weapon paint. :< Tap shots unquestionably drop more paint faster then half charges but half charges likely produce more paint from a single ink tank.
Yeah I mean I get where you’re coming from. I wrote in a pinned comment that I had so much more in the original script discussing numbers and fulls versus one circle charges damage (5400 for 4 full charges if all 9 arrows hit vs 5200 for 8 partials if all 9 arrows hit). You’re able to get more taps and partials than full charges so I think *generally speaking* the majority of players will get more out of partials and half charges, just due to time, efficiency, ink management and things like safety etc. I think learning when to fully charge and partially charge is a massive hill to overcome with this weapon and I am actually thinking about making a part two in the future to maybe discuss this more in-depth for non-beginners/less experienced players? There’s a core part of my channel’s audience that aren’t interested in overfishing or high end stuff so I think having too much detail won’t always work. Hard to decide what to cut or what to keep but I deffo appreciate there’s so much more to this weapon than a 15 minute video allows. Appreciate the comment!
You know, when I first started playing Splatoon 3 I thought the Gstringer was trash. But after learning to manage my ink tank, learning how to arc my shots, and learning how to stick to situations where the weapon is strong, I still think its trash lol.
I don't have anything to add but: holy shit, I just played a shift with you on Spawning Grounds! There was someone running around spamming "this way" the entire time ("Ir*****) for some reason?? I was psyched! I hope I didn't embarrass myself! Would you mind if I upload the footage? The reason I ask is because you're a Salmon Run person of interest and I'm TERRIBLE so I wouldn't want to embarrass you by association lol
LOOOL yeah I’ve never left a lobby so fast, it was too much. And they played so bad too 😂 But you’re absolutely good to upload it, it was a good game, even with all the noise 😭 ggs!
See y'all in the Big Run, now I know what to do with this weapon that I have always struggled with Also a funny interaction that always happens during golden rotations is that I watch for the capability of my teammates to take advantage of their weapons; when I get a Maws and the stringer is standing besides me I expect them to krill them in one shot instead of throwing a bomb, same thing with g slosher and the g splatana It's assuring to see them know what their weapon can do, unlike yesterday that the Explosher only attacked Cohocks during a Mudmouth wave...

That spot on the right where two arrows almost line up, I call it the Stealhead sweet spot.
i love deleting maws point blank with this thing
SAME. Love doing it with the Stamper and Charger too.
something else I find useful with this weapon and wellstring is that jumping with a full charge can have all the arrows land in roughly the same place, which can allow you to deal high damage to distant single targets when you need to
How many arrows do you want?
Grizzco Stringer: *Yes.*
100% agree with aiming slightly to the right for steelheads !! this weapon is so fun once you get the hang of it. hope you are feeling better !!

besides the power, i love how the grizzco stringer just looks lol
Good guide, thank you. This weapon is hard to get a grip on at first, and you've cleared up a few of its intricacies!

Yeah I think once you get it, it’s not hard to use at all. But it is very unique so I know at first it’s like… what is this!! Lol

Yeah I really love how different weapon this is.
love it, can’t wait for the next golden rotation
Love the Grizz Stringer/Bow! The partial charge info helped clarify something for me.
