I use a whiteboard marker on charts/kneeboard over the permanant marker pen. Permanant marker comes off easy and you dont need to carry a bottle of nail polish remover.

When there's loads of marker on the charts the remover is just quicker and cheaper than going through whiteboard pens.

🤘brilliant buddy you have nearly made it now it looks like it as been a long road to success for you. You need some short cuts in learning if you are interested in buying your own helicopter like me.

Hand sanatiser works well for removing perminent marker (I found that out before the virus, now probably more expensive!).
I couldn't take that bag in my aircraft, as it would put me out of weight & balance, that said most flight bags should be called ground bags that carry some flight kit. :-)
To me a flight bag has what I need to take to the aircraft (head set, chart, PLOG, knee board, nav computer, HiViz, pens, cloth and water bottle), it fits in a bag which has all the other kit that will get used and left on the ground (stuff like fuel tester, book of plates, flight briefing stuff, flight clothing, food and any other stuff that is not needed in the aircraft). When I was in the RAF I could carry far more stuff, so always had a land away bag (like you little box but with more in it, like change of smalls) and I carried a Nav Bag that would allow us to be able to plan if we had to change destination or land away .
    Great video.

Thank you! Yes I guess my use of the term 'flight bag' isn't correct. It's the bag I keep all my kit in and take to the heli school but I don't take the whole bag and it's contents flying, just the stuff I need.

Ditch the nail polish remover. Just use a black white board marker. Draw over your line and wipe it away.

I'd avoid nail polish remover or hand sanitizer because they could potentially be flammable or give off fumes. 🤷

Hey matey, you didn't show the other couple of things you must have stashed away in that bag of yours - what about your "bluey magazines" and a couple of "rubbers" for when you land away overnight and get lucky PMSL, after all as you said "it fits better when its stood up" and what about that tissue and vaseline what are they for??? and if your thinking I must be a right perv you would be right, to be a good pilot (like wot I am, or was) you have to be a womanizer with a big joystick!! But seriously I was a bit surprised when you said that some student pilots don't carry their logbook with them, in my day the CAA used to insist on it and the instructors used to have to sign off each flight you did even when you went solo! That was a great video and the kit you have in that bag is amazing my god how I wish I had had a tablet! By the way, what is in that sky book thing you had is it air law stuff?

As always a pleasure to hear from you Dave haha. I just knew someone would comment about the Vaseline haha. Not sure what you're on about with the sky book thing but when I was talking about log books I was referring to the licensed pilots I know.

Hi make, where you referring to the skyway code? If so here's a link that might help: www.caa.co.uk/General-aviation/Safety-information/The-Skyway-Code/

Never used a diversion ruler in a helicopter either or needed an overnight bag. Just take a credit card!

As I'm new to the rotary side of things it's a matter of trial and error seeing what kit I need or don't need so I'm sure I'll figure it all out soon :)
