What a privilege it must have been to collaborate with Weta on this awesome project. I adore the Grey Havens/Lindon design, so distinct from the other elven architecture we get to see in the movies. Beautiful stuff mate. Also, you are an absolute menace with that blowtorch...
Haha thank you Simon, same here it's really beautiful, I can't wait to make more off the cliffs. I've already though of a modular system so I can still do a mega pour with foundations for all the structures submerge din water but still keep al lthe pieces removable to I can use them for 1st age locations for some Silly action! It wasn't my fault blame Steve Smith...
WOW 😱 - they must really like you over there at Weta for sharing their 3D model and even preparing and printing it to warhammer scale :D THIS IS AWESOME
So damn proud of you man. You’ve come so far from that original Osgiliath board, and your passion and skill are such a joy to witness. “My friends, you bow to no one” is the scene that always makes me cry, even outside the context of the film. Keep it up man, you’re killing it.
This is absolutely peak Zorpazorp! It has everything we’ve come to know and love. A ridiculously huge Lord of the Rings board from a beloved location, a Weta Workshop collaboration, iconic location filming, leopard spotted plaster rocks, geek gaming scenics, and of course, Rustoleum grey zenithal highlights. I just can’t wait to see just how big this build is going to get, you’ve really outdone yourself this time Lachie ☺️.
Frodo sailing away is near the top...but I cry during like five scenes in ROTK every single time. Sam carrying Frodo crushes me into mushy pulp every time.
Gobsmacked. This is just so awesome. Kudos to Weta for their assistance and wonderful to see so many tried and tested techniques brought into play to make a truly beautiful board. And the dash of a Lauchie mishap too, though cricket is an acceptable distraction of course. NZ might not only become a destination for fans of the films but maybe fans of ME SBG too at some point in the future?
First congratulations on your new daughter. Second OMg how freaking cool! Gah I love these builds…makes me wanna join in! You even got WETA involved in the ultra board!
Man I am almost envious that you get to work with Elf-flavored terrain direct from the OG source in Weta workshop. The project looks fantastic and I wish I could work with some of those for my Age of Sigmar tournament displays. Thanks for sharing yet another great video. -Martin Orlando
Your enthusiasm, genuine excitement, and passion makes every time I get a notification that you have a new video makes me so stoked and pumped! Thanks for some of the best content on UA-cam!
So many tear-worthy moments in LotR! Boromir's death, Theoden's death (and Theodred's funeral, too), Aragorn's coronation and the "my friends, you bow to no one", and finally, the Grey Havens scene. Moments that make me cry every time I get to them.
So.. it looks like you are apprenticing at Weta now. That is actually amazing. Cool to have seen the journey that has lead you there. Lindon could also work as Pelargin thus giving you a way of using the same terrain for the meeting of the Oathbreakers and the Pirates of Umbar :)
Yes. That sounds good. Modularity in terrain pieces is a must. If you come up with a good, fast way of building fleets, let us know :) And as an answer to the question, The charge of the Rohirrim: "and the hosts of mordor wailed, and terror took them, and they fled, and died and the hoofs of wrath rode over them." That brings me to tears..@@Zorpazorp
You make this process seem almost effortless, Lachie, you're underselling how much effort and work this is! I'm honestly gobsmacked, and so happy that you get the inside opportunities like this. Good on ya! I've noticed a little thing that somewhat amused me: it seems like the designers over at Weta didn't really like eaves, since most of their roofs stop pretty much at the wall underneath - at least for the Gondorian and Grey Haven sets (and iirc also in their Dale designs). Just a weird little observation, lol. As for a scene that always gets me, I think it's only in the extended edition, but when Theoden is rejuvenated and goes to the grave mound of his son, he says: "No parent should have to bury their child," and breaks down crying. That completely wrecks me. What a powerful performance.
Man, that's so awesome Weta is willing to print them at the correct scale for you! That's really cool that you get to collaborate with their team! Loving the video!
Frodo sailing away made my wife cry like a baby. Wish Warhammer would release (or release) a Helm's Deep & Minas Tirith scenery set series like they did for Osgiliath.
Hands upside down down (you know because it's the other side of the globe) best channel for inspiration. I used a lot of methods I learned from you and RP Archive to craft my Armies on Parade board and won store champion back in the end of november, so huge thanks!
I discovered this channel last year and now I'm looking for updates religiously, this is the most imagination kindling project ever! (I'm three months into my own Gondor city board now copying your techniques). The whole time I've been thinking what top five locations I'm looking forward to seeing you do. Rivendell, Moria, Minas Morgul, Umbar and Dol Amroth I concluded, but now seeing the Grey Havens come together, I'm totally sold. It looks amazing already. Besides Minas Tirith, this is the project of yours I'm most excited to see develop. Don't ever stop! There's an army of people all around the world whose wildest scenery fantasies are being fulfilled through you! Love from London, Alex LT
What an amazing project. I liked the Weta miniture, but I like Your "Warhammer scale version" even better. Spectacular. Eagerly await to see som gameplay on the finished model.
Cheers Reyals!!!! Hope you're doing all well mate. Yeah it will be really nice to do a few more section on this piece too, but there'll definitely be some battle reports on it when I launch the SBG batrep channel later in the year
Aside from this being an incredible build, and an awesome thing for us to see, I want to say: congratulations to little Lachie! This must have felt surreal, given where you started, and I hope you're able to look along your entire journey with pride. Absolutely living the dream, dude :)
Thank you Benny, it's bloody wild to think of sitting on the floor of the living room hacking away at scrap polystyrene as a 7 and 8 year old just absorbed by the bigature featurettes to now get to see digital scan data of them and work with the prints. Just mind boggling - Little Lachie
It's utterly amazing! I love the fact that there are no compromises in your builds, and you just go for it. Excellent stuff, I can't wait to see the rest
Thats so amazing to see Weta Workshop backing your projects!!! It really goes to show that their heart is in Middle Earth. Keep up the hard work Zorp!! I know lifes been tough but we all love the work you do.
If I had to choose, its Frodo sailing away, but both open the floodgates every time I watch them. On topic of this video, Holy shit, you are living the dream, well deserved mate! You truly are the one middle earth hobby UA-camr to rule them all!
Insane. You are living the dreams of so many of us and being nice enough to share it so we can still live it vicariously. Thankyou for keeping middle earth wargaming alive
That's absolutely incredible. Major props to Weta for giving you so much access. I can't imagine the quality of their FDM printers. I'm glad you're able to make considerations for MESB playability while you painstakingly try to replicate the locations. I can't imagine getting to play on these. All your boards and MESB videos have really fueled my lapsed LOTR love ask a kid.
Boromir's death is heavy, but for me, Theoden saying "No parent should have to bury their child" and Sam's speech at the end of the Two Towers always get me a weeping. Oh and "I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you" is just chef's kiss
This is absolutely insane Lachie! Great work and nothing like it out there. I hope you might get around to The Argonath at some point? The scene that gets me most emotional is Theoden's speech - "..a sword day - a red day - ere the sun rises!" Gets me every time.
Ah me toooooo Andy, that is a big scene for any Rohan addict haha, I really love the Pelennor, especially in the book. The film,s did an amazing job of capturing it, but Theoden loses a bit of his character arc in the necessary changes madefor the adaptation.
"Is there no other way for the women and children to get out of the caves? ....Is there no other way?!" This scene of defeat and destruction, when all seems lost where Aragorn talks around Theoden one last time into a final act of courage - even subtly reminding him that the battle is not for glory but for the people of Rohan. The charge of less than a dozen into the legion of Uruk-hai just to buy a little more time, in hope that somehow, their friend will come through for them. This gets me every time. Theoden sort of relearning kingship and the true meaning of leading from Aragorn - which will result in him overcoming his reluctance and mustering his armies to ride to the aid of Gondor in the future despite some bitterness over the past.
Amazing work Lauchy as always you constantly inspire and raise the bar on amazing works like this, when Frodo and Sam hug at the end of rotk I always tear up was tearing up a bit watching this video. I’m working on a few boards atm and it’s all inspired thanks to you! P.S. The good Bastion XPS Foam is back at Bunnings at least at my local one so will be using that for better board builds! 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
this gives me life! I need to see an invasion force of orcs battling against elves and Gandalf and some eagles maybe on this board! It's crazy to me how much work and time!! went into this not even 20 min video - i could use some hour long versions, where i just sit back and enjoy the process, but i know thats probably not practical for youtube bc it doesnt favour long video formats, but thats such a shame, i wish i could relish in your creative process for longer and appreciate all the work and effort not just in a little clip, where hours and days of work just get resolved in a sentence (like oh btw i made it all interior playable and modular for better gameplay, like jeez, that went by so fast i cant even truly absorb the greatness of this build). Its all encapsulated in the sheer madness of driving out to the rohan location just for a quick intro :D WAAAY to much work for us man! i hope your doing ok financialy wise after the move and with the family, bc you sure as hell deserve it!
Yeah even 19mins is indulgent and probabaly going to hurt me, but I just couldn't skim through any faster. I'd make everything an hour long if it worked. Thank you so much for the support mate, it's been a very tight year I won't lie, it's expensive here and YT has been a big slog for the last 12 months in terms of performance but hopefully the enxt 12 months are better :)
It's great to see the relationship you've made with the folks at WETA. They must hold you to high praise, very jealous. Cant wait to see the other videos alongside WETA ❤
This is incredible. Just got back from my honeymoon to NZ and a LotR pilgrimage, including Weta and Edoras, and it brings it all back watching your videos. Chuffed that you’re collaborating with Weta and can’t wait to see what you get up to next!! Also: +1 for ‘You bow to no-one’ for me. Or ‘FORTH EORLINGASSSSS! ’
So good to have you back Lachie. An absolutely gorgeous board in classic Zorbazorp grandeur. Can't wait to see more of the havens, and whatever other madness you've got cooking.
Thank you mate, I haven't had much of a chance to play many games the last few years with work and family life, but hoping to roll more dice soon for sure. Especially on this beast
@@Zorpazorp do you have plans for a huge tournament or narrative campaign going on on the mega board once its finished? I can relate to the work/family vs tabletop challenge. Personally I'm more of a 40K guy, but following this project has made me curious on the GW Lord of the rings line. However, so far I have slated my thirst on War of the Ring the boardgame. If you haven't tried it I would definitely recommend it... once you find the time in 2033 or there about 😅
Yeah absolutely once I've shipped all the boards over that are still in Australia I'll hold a massive narrative event across everything I've made, but it's going to cost $11k which hurts ALOT, so not anytime soon, years away I think. My mate Adam jsut got into the WotR board game and we're having a game next time I'm up his way!@@redmakak9479
@@Zorpazorp holy moly, that's a hefty price tag for shipment. Moving is expensive for a hobby craftsman it seems 🤯 Just had a WOTR game yesterday with two of the expansions. Its quickly becoming one of my favourite board games. Hope you have as much fun playing the game.
There are some who say that Lachie will actually finish a project one day. The fools. This does look magnificent though! Lindon has such beautiful architecture, and what a boon from Weta. Good for you Lachie! And for all of us that get to see this build.
Absolutely outstanding! As an elf fan (friend?!) since I was a kid, it makes me so happy to see this, and the support from weta is just incredible. If DLL your amazing pieces, this is the one I would most love to have even as a work of art!! Phenomenal work, well done :)
I'm glad there's still a lot of practical stuff involved in this build - a lot of terrain videos I see now with 3D printing involved just boil down to "buy the STLs from me and print them", and there's not much to learn. But of course, you never do these things by halves on this channel!
I absolutely love doing hybrid builds with a big mix of techniques it's really artistically satisfying and makes the process super varied and enjoyable😊😊😊
"I cant carry it for you, but I can carry you" - that and the grey havens is the real tear jerker for me. Awesome vid again as usual mate! Edit: Hope alls going well with the new addition to the family!
Mithlond is without a doubt my favourite location in all of Middle Earth and Beleriand. What it stands for in Tolkiens Mythology, Círdan, its emotional impact to end the story in the trilogy, all of it. I do hope you finish and get to play on it in a timely manner. I often fear that you lose track of your projects and my previous favourite, Dol Guldur for a long time felt like it had fallen by the wayside. Hopefully we can witness the completion of this soon.
I love it too mate, big time. For me it's all one large projects and I rotate different aspects in and out as required by external factors, partnerships, market forces, algorithm etc etc. Plus it helps with my ADHD to cycle through different hyperfocus windows to maximise my output haha
The scene that gets me for some reason is when Frodo and co start to bow and Aragon says something like my friends you bow to no one and then everyone bows to them tears me up no end lol.
Man, every time I comment on your vids "You're a mad lad." You take it as a challenge to one up yourself, again. This is mental but so stunning. Im shocked Weta has plucked you to join them. You're unbelievable. The gameplay is going to be sick.
Hahahaha thanks Nicky boy, mate I'm so excited for a game on this one might have to do a little battle report on the streaming channel just to have an excuse to have a game on it haha
This is incredible mate! An accolade to get access to those prints. And you outdid yourself with the internal gaming features. I would love to see these projects in a series of 5-6 videos to give your work the time it deserves! Very much hoping they gave you access to the Helms Deep prints as well.
Chrissy!!! Thank you as always mate. Yeah I have to cram so much build labour into a single video or people get bored and don't watch, it makes it a pretty brutal slog on the time in money out equation haha, but hopefully we get some really big views this year to ease things up :) Thanks for your continued support mate
boromir's death, it takes a good 30 mins to watch all the endings, and over time its become a bit of a drag, whereas boromir's death is a clear scene of corruption and redemption with a clear showing of how Aragorn finally makes up his mind on what to do next
This is glorious. Fair play to you dude, it's been a long journey but my god has it paid off for you. Amazing to follow and must be the best thing to actually do. Hats off to you and all the best to your goal in the future. I for sure will be following your progress.❤
Lachie may not announce to us that he is leaving UA-cam to sail into the west and work at WETA… but there will be signs… This was just perfection dude. I know I say that about a lot of your vids (and I meant it everytime) but this just takes everything to a level previously unattainable. Also feel a large amount of pride to have slice and slot sitting alongside the amazing digital sculpts from WETA.
Insane as always. Great to see someone recreate the Grey Havens. Weta should work with GW to produce more terrain for Mesbg. Or just hire you to design it all like the pro you are! Congratulations on the new addition to your family.
You are a lunatic with your projects ... but I love what you do. Stunning, truly stunning; and you're not done yet! Brilliant work mate. I'm 61yo and a dad myself, so I also have to say your wife, now she is a new mum, must be a living saint.

Oh my goodness. Your Gaming Boards both middleearth and 40k are just amazing❤
Glad you like them Leonard!
it's hard to find a moment of those films when I'm not crying.
I mean you're not wrong Mark, but now the tears hit different haha
WOW...0.12s in and the backdrop behind Edoras looks like a painting. WOW WOW WOW!
This vid felt enthusiastic without being over-acted in a way that was refreshing. awesome project
Thanks mate, I was trying to squash down the enthusiasm so I was just screaming at the camera haha
"Is there no other way for the women and children to get out of the caves? ....Is there no other way?!"
This scene of defeat and destruction, when all seems lost where Aragorn talks around Theoden one last time into a final act of courage - even subtly reminding him that the battle is not for glory but for the people of Rohan.
Ah that is amazing mate, glad I'm spurring you on, and yay for good foam!!!
this gives me life!
I feel like this series is less about the actual terrain building itself, and more of Lachy documenting his journey towards working for Weta 😂
’
I did the Weta tour on honeymoon, I cant imagine the idea of getting access to the archive and your custom bespoke prints in 28mm!
It's an amazing tour isn't it :)
You know how to come back with a bang! Each projec just gets better. Can't wait to see you assemble an acre of gaming board in a year's time
Haha thank you mate!! I'm trying :)
6:40 well Bawul knows where the pieces fit because he watched them fall away, so he should be able to make this very screen accurate :D
What's the mixture you are using to fill the cracks on the prints? I'm looking for a replacement for Bondo.
Magic… what an incredible milestone in your Middle Earth Journey. I’m speechless! But so looking forward to seeing where this leads. Damn good job.
Thank you so much mate, I'm absolutely stoked!
This is incredible! If Weta/GW had sold these houses as models, Gondolin could have been within reach.
Gondolin will happen one day I promise you, even if I have to carve it all by hand!!!
Absolutely love it almost makes me want to jump back into MESBG from historical stuff
Yesssss come back to the light! (although I love histo haha)
@@Zorpazorp but the allfather watches as the hoard grows and greys
I'll tell you what my hair grows and greys, some of those over the shoulder shots on me grouting were a knife to the heart hahaha@@fencingmitch
Wow, that really is something else, elven terrain always looks like such hard work but the result on this one looks absolutely worth it. Amazing job
Thank you very much mate! Elves can be tricksy!!!
So good to have you back Lachie. An absolutely gorgeous board in classic Zorbazorp grandeur.
Can't wait to see more of the havens, and whatever other madness you've got cooking.
Thank you Seany! stoked you enjoyed it :)
Absolutely amazing what a superb build those prints looked stunning and how great Weta are for giving you access to those -Fantastic!!!
Glad you like them Jackson! I'm stoked to bring it all together
i cant get enough of your energy, man
you've singlehandedly inspired me to start terrain stuff myself
Mae Govannen
Haha cheers mate, stoked to fire up your creative vibes! Mae govannen!
Wow! Just WOW! This is the most epic and inspiring project. It must be the most incredible experience to get to play on your mega board.
Yeah it's a full shipping container load that has to cross the Tasman ocean haha, thank you mate!@@redmakak9479
This is an absolutely incredible build! I love that you are doing some work on an elven location. Keep up the great work!
Thanks George yeah me too I've been desperate to make some elven stuff for years
This felt more like your old tutorials and it was a nice to see and learn new techniques again
There are some who say that Lachie will actually finish a project one day. The fools. This does look magnificent though! Lindon has such beautiful architecture, and what a boon from Weta. Good for you Lachie! And for all of us that get to see this build.
It's all just one big project to me haha, so it'll never be finished, stoked you enjoyed it mate!
@Zorpazorp the mega project of destiny! It is going to be insane once it is all put together! Great work on all of this Lachie.
@@wilfbiffherb Thanks mate, yeah I can't wait to lay it all out one day!
Absolutely outstanding! As an elf fan (friend?!) since I was a kid, it makes me so happy to see this, and the support from weta is just incredible. If DLL your amazing pieces, this is the one I would most love to have even as a work of art!! Phenomenal work, well done :)
Awesome, love me some scenery videos from Zorp :)
Glad you like them mate! lots more to come!
@@Zorpazorp awesome, always love to watch your videos while hobbying 🙌
Happy to accompany your hobby in viddeo form haha@@Morgulvale_
Amazing as always Lachie!!! Keep it up! Congrats on the new family member too!
Thanks so much!!
This one slipped through the algorithem the first time somehow, but it's always a treat to find "hidden" treasures like this build later :D
I just got into MESBG because of your enthusiasm for the game! played my first game and LOVE it. Thanks!!!!
You are most welcome!!!
Wonderful work. Really captures the essence of an Elven city. Truely your best work. Great to see a different aspect of Middle Earth come to life.
Thank you so much Kili 😀 I'm so happy with it, I want to do MOOOOORE
Awesome. My friends and I have recently been playing mebsg again and are having a blast.
Great to hear! It's a fantastic game!!
Wow!! Just wonderful mate what a great experience through WETA and then to building your own version - absolutely increcible well done!
Ayyyyyy I knew you'd love it Davey!! We should do something again soon!
@@Zorpazorp definitely mate! Well up for that
Excellenttttttt@@kitbashbox
You should try to do a collab with Matt Mercer and do a campaign on your maps
This is insane and so incredibly cool. Love it!
Thank you so much mate :) :)
boromir's death, it takes a good 30 mins to watch all the endings, and over time its become a bit of a drag, whereas boromir's death is a clear scene of corruption and redemption with a clear showing of how Aragorn finally makes up his mind on what to do next
It kills me every time, good old Bozza!
Lovely, its good to see Zorpazorp at the Grey Havens
Wow what a project! It looks absolutely awesome! Great work by you and Weta
This is glorious. Fair play to you dude, it's been a long journey but my god has it paid off for you. Amazing to follow and must be the best thing to actually do. Hats off to you and all the best to your goal in the future. I for sure will be following your progress.❤
Lachie may not announce to us that he is leaving UA-cam to sail into the west and work at WETA… but there will be signs…
This was just perfection dude. I know I say that about a lot of your vids (and I meant it everytime) but this just takes everything to a level previously unattainable. Also feel a large amount of pride to have slice and slot sitting alongside the amazing digital sculpts from WETA.
How gooooooooooooooooooood my man! Slice and Slot right up there with the Bigatures!!!!!!
Thanks for your kind words bro
Outstanding ! Thanks for sharing, and looking forward to seeing more !!
Thank you :)
@12:06 Where did all those hexes come from? I'm currently working on a project that would use something like those.
ua-cam.com/video/npY5s90jbAI/v-deo.html :) :) Here you go
Insane as always. Great to see someone recreate the Grey Havens. Weta should work with GW to produce more terrain for Mesbg. Or just hire you to design it all like the pro you are! Congratulations on the new addition to your family.
Thank you mate, mum and bub both doing really well and hopefully some more Grey Havens in the not too distant future 😁
You are a lunatic with your projects ... but I love what you do. Stunning, truly stunning; and you're not done yet! Brilliant work mate. I'm 61yo and a dad myself, so I also have to say your wife, now she is a new mum, must be a living saint.
She is an incredible human being that's for sure 🥰🥰😍 stoked you enjoyed it mate
wow, what a super awesome build! I can wait for the hype when the super board is done and the mega campaign will start
I'm so excited tonpkay on this one especially, reckon it'll make for some fun gameplay!
Absolutely incredible! You’re such an inspiration! I need a space to do awesome terrain projects!
Also… make sure this all goes into a museum some day!!
That's the dreaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!!
