Just to mention it again in case you didn't see my old comment. Maybe consider putting two more shocks outboard closer to the tires? It will add tension, slow compression, and also keep each side of the frame more planted so you don't get as much side to side wobble. Just a thought. Can't wait to see everything guys!

When Shawn mentioned adding two more shocks, on top of the other two, that was the first thing that popped in my head. Imo I think shawns idea will work no doubt, but I think the results could be better with two inside and two outside shocks.

moving the diff on the bully will also move the overall weight forward, this will change your turning moments on your frame pivots and affect the required damping/gates on the hinge shocks.
But with the weight more forwards it will enhance the levarage over the tyres increasing the grip... given that you will probably shift it about 2"(looking at the video) it sprobably well worth doing!!

With the guards getting wrecked, Australian burnout cars have 1/4" or 2 layers of 1/8" steel plate bent up and used as the guard liners so the tyres can't wreck them when they let go.

Awersome stuff guys love ya work , hey brent I did try to warn you about how destructive those tires are lol , glad things worked out for you also good to see you are going to put fire cutters on , they work well for us . Hmmmm not sure about the blower , roots blowers arnt very efficient personally I would stay turbo but your car to do as you please . I think part of the problem that you had was never having practice, always keep your front wheels straight when starting is another that's why she sledged at the start , didn't help with on off lol but all in all you rocked it for your first go on the pad , I know it's a big learning curve. But with a bit of seat time you'll get it sorted , also I didn't see if the wheel weights came off before the comp but they were on for ya first . That's a big no no wheel weights can kill , get more steel rims we go through minimum of three sets of brand new tires each time with some 2nd hand party tires for after lol . All in all top job . Tony

I think you just need more dampening for the suspension of the Bully, but no more spring stiffness. Just ad another damper and no more springs. You just want to travel the frontend slower. So you can use a cheap coilover and just remove the spring. Looking forward to the progress of getting the Bully figured out.

I've seen and driven plenty of Rat Rods, hell I own one.
I've seen Bat Rods there's more than a few of those.
There's only one Rat Mobile I've ever seen a lifetime of going to shows and events.
Truly unique and amazing. Wonder if knocking off a little tire speed aside from weight shifting will help as well with burn out duration. I know that things was flying and I'm guessing what around 210 or so if they were actually pushing a car to speed? That thing flat destroyed those tires more by melting them than wearing them down. Still great showing man especially when you consider the build time the fact was even able to pop the tires and do it safely as well as drive off was astonishing but not unexpected. Can't wait to see all the content coming up y'all deserve all that's coming your way you prove everyday that hard work does pay off...

  • @Scootermagoo

Glad I mentioned the suspension running out of travel, I think slowing it down and giving it more time to get onto the tires going to help. I used to see these kinds of problems on traction bar leaf spring cars, and I broke shocks figuring it out. What I'm seeing happen is the chassis is bending in the middle but it's hitting the limiters to fast. When i was racing my maverick it would extend the rear end past the shock length and snap the mounts off, so to fix it I found some truck shocks that were long enough and slowed the rear end separation down, as a consequence the car 60 footed better and started peaking air under the fronts. So I'm just thinking the same thing might help, because if you watch the footage the car accelerates fine but 10-20 feet out the chassis stops moving hitting the limiters and the tire shake begins, you could also tune the boost curve and not hit the chassis so hard in the first 1 second or so and ramp it in after that point if adding the shocks help.

I am 1000%!!!! On board with the blower on the j series idea. It's exactly what i thought would be cool af from the beginning. And pointing the exhausts down and slightly to the rear will help blow the smoke back and out which would look cooler and help a lil with visibility.
The only thing i worry about with putting the fuel and battery in front is them getting damaged if ya hit the wall. I'd personally put the battery in the factory footwell just behind the firewall

  • @MrKingdavis13
    @MrKingdavis13 4 роки тому

For the Bully all you have to do is extend the upper shock tabs so that the shocks you have are standing more vertical so that the leverage essentially makes the shocks have more lifting capacity which will also slow the rebound time. The best part is that it will only cost a few cents for scrap metal and it can be made adjustable by just having a couple extra holes to move the mounting location to fine tune it.

Boost by speed with the sensors on the rear would make a rather decent somewhat traction control measure I would think, great idea ya'll have there (if i'm visioning it right) the only difficulty would be a rad burnout unless there is a way to change it on the fly (could be wrong) . I always wondered why the axles was like that and now I know... yeah moving them now that you can should help immensely for sure... awesome

About the Bully. In RC cars when CV axles are under power there is bind in them that makes the axle want to straighten out. So, depending on the diff height compared to the outer axle the straightening will plant the tires. So moving the diff could make a big difference.

Guys 2 things to consider and double check, 1:- the tolerance of the actual joint for the sleigh, it needs to be very close and 2:- additional shocks for the sleigh but towards the outer edges of the chasis and not in the center over the ones that currently exist. It is possible that some of your vibration and shaking may be as a result of the only support at the joint is dead center of the chasis and the front wheels are trying to apply some degree of lateral force as it accelerates. Just an idea i had.

@pfi speed For the bully suspension, try to think about air shock. Basically the coil shocks are pretty linear all the way but air cans having more resistance as you go more to travel which at some point will limit the travel based on the pressure you use. The tend to get hot but I think on such a short track it would not be a big deal. I took this from mtb as bikes having various linkages used for suspension. This is like single pivot which is perfect for air can with more progression as it goes thru the travel.

Couldn't believe the weight, would never have thought the rear was heavier, I actually thought maybe the scales where wrong way round. Another top video from Brent and the team.

      1) having a baby = giving birth
      2) having a baby = quality snuggle time with newborn

with the burnouts. in australia we often add more weight to the back to add grip so there is more smoke, cement the rear to prevent tyres blowing through the wheel arches

Fab a Bumper bar/cage out past the front tires to move fuel, battery and radiator as far forward as possible, plus you'll have the bars to protect the tires/suspension against wall-taps...
